Picked my model y performance upfrom your link and loving it. Thanks for the videos. It’s one of the things that helped me decide.
Glad to hear it! Thank you using my referral ⚡️⚡️
Quartzsite, AZ has 2 supercharger 1- has 36 supercharger 2- has 84 supercharger. there is 8- 150 KW and 112- 250KW
Harris Ranch Inn & Restaurant has 36 Superchargers, available 24/7, up to 250kW
The huge Tesla Supercharger site at Harris Ranch in California has a Diesel backup. I wonder how many other Tesla facilities do as well?
Do you have a source for that?
Last summer, I drove a Polestar 2 from Phoenix to Eugene; about 1700 miles. The Harris Ranch charging stop had 6/8 working EA chargers with a queue three deep. Meanwhile, the 16 Tesla stalls had at least one free during the whole time I was there.
…and that’s why I ordered a model Y when I got home, and why I drive one today.
EA has a new facility with 12 chargers at Kettleman city, about 30 miles south on the 5 freeway. We’ve had good experiences charging there
Good information about how the electricity goes from the grid to the car! Are you going to do FSD testing in the future?
FSD testing isn’t really my jam but I do have FSD beta
@@brandenflasch you are very analytical and maybe once every 6 months you could give us a state of the technology video? Pretty please? ;-)
I’m overall pretty meh about it until I can take a nap while my car drives me somewhere or even just legally use my phone on the interstate
@@brandenflasch OK, I'll check back in 5 years LOL
Did you report the cable with the deadfront stuck in it in the app, so Tesla knows that it needs service?
I reported it through a more direct channel, but yes
You might mention the hassel of dealing with a CCS connector and a heavy cable.
It’s tough to say, but I wouldn’t buy anything that doesn’t have a NACS plug. The CCS fast charging is just abysmal.
Can you buy and test out an acceleration boost with your referral miles. Do you think there is any chance it would have a side bonus of improving charging speed by somehow unlocking more battery capacity or changing how aggressively the battery is used. My thought is in order to unlock acceleration boost they have to up the discharge rate of the battery which may inadvertently unlock the charge rate of the battery.
Acceleration boost isn’t an option on my Model Y - only Long Range
Why would you not put the price on the signs? Gas stations have huge signs out by the street for it. Edit: Maybe they have a fixed cost for electricity, and know they won't have to change it?
Because printed signs are difficult to change and prices are likely to change. Gas stations use digital signs that are easy to change
You have paid for their big ass signs with your own money. Thank you for your service. We @ Tesla prefer no signs, no cost, stay cheap. Yes: CHEAP!
And: Those signs are there to give you a opportunity to find the cheapest petrol station. What‘s the point @ Superchargers? Do you think Tesla competes against themselves?
Gas stations are superior to most SuperCharger locations. They have Drive thru stalls ideal for towing, convenience stores with snacks, restrooms, canopies, except for locations like WaWa, Buccees etc.
Charge times for all EVs really need to improve.
Just because the Porche guy paid $100,000 for his car doesn't give him preferential treatment at chargers. Kind of a rude thing to say.
Never said he should get preferential treatment. I would simply expect a better experience.
Thank You for All that you are doing for our Planet Earth.... Peace.. Shalom.. Salam.. Namaste.. 🙏🏻 😊 🌈 ✌ ☮ ❤
Thank you for that great video. I love watching your roadtrip videos.
Interesting to see that Tesla starts to plan ahead for future expansion of their superchargers. Here in Europe they already expand the number of chargers at existing locations for many years now. At many locations the expansion was significantly. But in many of these cases they did not plan ahead as far as putting pipes for their cables in the ground. In Geiselwind (Germany) for example, they moved the whole 8 stall V2 installation about 100 m to a different parking lot and upgraded it to 34 V3´s with a solar roof.
The only supercharger I know they designed to be expanded from ground up is Hilden (Germany). They had 20 chargers there as a first step, but they already had plans to make it a 40 stall installation. Since this is an installation with 40 chargers now and Germany is east of Texas, there is technically another supercharger with 40 V3´s east of Texas. 🤣
Thank you so much again and keep up the good work.
Greetings from Germany
Felix
That Battery preconditioning seems even worse than 2170, 4860's having so much more mass you would think Tesla would start preconditioning a lot earlier than the 2170? Ok Tesla your chance to improve your charging performance on the your next generation battery, how about a software update!
High contrast! Cant wait til im able to charge my Mach-e in the superchargers next year!
Waco Texas has had version 3 added to version 2, so I guess you could say that has been upgraded.
That’s not removing the V2 though - they just expanded with V3
Also Cybertruck towing will need that spot
Hi Branden. Just wondering with all the miles you put on, do you carry a spare with you? If so, what do you carry? Keep up the great videos. Thanks.
I don’t, but I probably should. I carry a tire repair kit and compressor though. x.com/brandenflasch/status/1695926885400657997?s=46&t=qT5Mqn6Y80K93tBN1ZDU0Q
I do not think that non tesla customers will have to buy a adapter I think the magic dock will be the adapter which is smart on tesla's part because that means more customers to the superchargers since they do not have to buy a adapter more people will use them
I’m beginning to think you’re right. Before Tom’s State of Charge episode on how crappy adapters could be I would have said Tesla was going to make everyone buy adapters. But after Tom’s rant, I think it put the whole industry on notice that an adapter is a consumable item, just like cables and handles. And do you really want to leave the inspection and maintenance of that consumable in the hands of the consumer?
Also, both from an economics point of view and a safety point of view it’s better if Tesla keeps the adapter in their maintenance and inspection loop. Otherwise they’ll risk randos using bad adapters and causing issues. Whereas with MagicDock they can simply update/replace each adapter whenever they deemed it prudent.
you know nacs is now getting changed over and all ev will be using teals chargers soon
(Popeyes blackened chicken sandwich is pretty good)
Maybe Columbia will get a set of 4 with Magic docks?
You think that's bad?
There is an embarrassing lack of J1772 compatible chargers at supermarkets / shopping malls for those of us PHEV users who would be happy to do their "around town" errands entirely on electrons instead of burning gasoline.
PHEVs should just charge at home for most use cases
@@brandenflasch If the desire is for people to roll around on electrons, then all should support our being able to get "topped up" while running errands (or going to a movie theater for that matter) to ensure gasoline isn't being burned. 🙂
@pauld6967 or people should buy BEVs.
@@brandenflasch Bring the out-of-pocket price down to or below that of ICE cars and more people would buy BEV.
Until that happens or used PHEV & BEV car prices fall, people will stick with the car they have and/or more economical ICE vehicles.
I am looking seriously at Tesla but they need to knock about $10,000 off the out-of-pocket price for it to be better than sticking with what I have.
Maybe if this rumored Model 2 ever comes out at $25,000-ish.
what type of monitor are you using?
What do you mean?
You had a plug in device for additional info. Could be your iphone with a running app.

At 0:16 the label is right below the words Electrify America. So it's in 2 places.
How are you supposed to see that from in your car?
@@brandenflaschthey use to be on top of the charger, but people complained, so they moved it. Once you know where it is, it's pretty easy. Also, I'd say the same for the Tesla Superchargers with the Magic Dock, as the stall number is on the bottom.
@@brandenflaschI should have tagged 0:16 not 0:18 as it's pretty clear right above the screen.
....and this is why it's a good thing Elon is opening the Supercharging network to non-Tesla EV's...!
We have now have 3 V4 sites in the UK which are great as me being a non Tesla EV owner - I no longer block 2 spots which I'd normally do if I was to charge at one of the many open V3 sites.
