IMO...... Your 55 wagon is a national treasure of the Route 66 and should be preserved in a car museum for generations of enthusiasts to enjoy because I am sure they got a lot of stories to tell if the car could talk while on the road. Thank you SO MUCH for everything YOU HAVE DONE in preserving American history and it is always NEVER ENOUGH to replace gratitude with words with how far you have come while everybody else quits. Btw..... Did you get the certificate of completion of the journey or just the stamp on your Route 66 passport from Ian??? Post that on your wall back at home!!!!

What a ride Jeff! We've done 66 in our 49 Olds and 62 Caddy years ago and after we watched your run we're thinking of doing it again in our 57 Chevy or my wife's 61 Plymouth wagon! Thanks for the vids buddy, Wendell

A great drive from Chicago to Santa Monica Blvd, Calif, liked Cafe 50's breakfasts every year I visited, and ending at the Santa Monica pier! The '55 visited the last Madonna of the Trails, toured the National Old Trails Road across the USA, and drove "the Main Street of America,: Route 66!" A great series of videos Jeff, well narrated, and totally, well done!!!

What was your favorite part of old Route 66?

I LOVE my gearvendors - the only downsides are:
1 - there's a clunk when it comes out of gear at about 21mph
2 - I can't use the same expensive synthetic ATF in it.
I need to use conventional ATF in order change out the ATF.
It really is awesome.
Thanks for the reply@@jeffthisted. I have been thinking about adding one to my 55 that has a built 4L60E in it now. Wanted to get a little better gas mileage and close the spacing between shifts. I get from 12 to 14.7mpg depending on how and where I drive right now with my LS 5.3 (cammed LM7). I noticed you were running around 2170'ish RPM at 80 mph and I am 200RPM higher, and was wondering about your MPG's. I know your engine is larger (408?) so I was curious what you have been getting in your travels... that is if you don't mind me asking? Thanks again... Jim
You're welcome@@jamesmccormick2171!! I've gotta 3.70 rear gear and I get between 18-21mpg depending on how far I'm into it. Be careful of that 4L60e...
@@jeffthisted 10-4 on the 4L60e... I wish I would have went with the 4L80e after the fact, but probably stuck with the 4L60 for a while. Regardless we will keep watching your adventures!!!! Keep up the good work and Thanks again!
