Don't quote me but I read something a while ago (hope I don't mistake it with another game they wanted to make a film about) that they wanted to that movie for some time but the producer/studio switched a few times and it was already considered dead and will never happen. Glad it did cause I love bl, but Terry Cruise would be a better Roland :)

Removing 2 of the 4 original vault hunters was their first mistake, the second was casting Cate Blanchett as a young, badass hot redhead, and the third was casting Kevin Hart as Roland. And fourth, I think there's a reason Tiny Tina is only ever a side character

It feels so odd to see this world and these characters without the cellshading artstyle the games are known and it makes claptrap feel so out of place in this world.
I personally like the difference. It's like we get to enjoy the game in a different way since I already played the crap out of all of them plus their dlcs. I hope they change up the plot and add new characters. It's an interesting world to write with
I have almost a full Borderlands tattoo sleeve. I remember preordering Borderlands 2, the Pre Sequel, Tales from the Borderlands, Borderlands 3, and Tiny Tina's Wonderlands. My Xbox 360 profile says/has tracked that I've played Borderlands 2 for 13,000 hours. This is the most jarring trailer I've ever seen in my life and it hurts me so bad so the core. I'm one of the largest Borderlands fans on this planet. I have nearly all the graphic novels, books, and comic books in mint condition. Kevin Hart said/stated that this is the most "serious" role he's ever prepped and played, his acting and this trailer says otherwise. The Roland we know would not even think about kicking Claptrap down a ladder well, literally all the other characters except for Roland would have done that. Also, it's weird ASF to see Roland, a character who is supposed to be 6'2, the same height as Lilith from the Games, while Cate Blanchett is nearly the exact same height as Roland from the games. You didn't think about putting Kevin on stilts/heels or doing some kind of perspective shots with the camera like how they did in LOTR and The Hobbit? They're painting this movie to be like Guardians of the Galaxy, which you can't do. James Gunn has that title. They're making Cate Blanchett feel like Star Lord and it's ruining the character of Lilith. But even then, when the trailers for Guardians came out, they didn't make Star Lord take up 70% of the trailer time like they did to Cate. The Guardians trailer equally showcased all Guardians and who they were so you could get a sense of the characters you were going to be watching. The budget for this movie was 100M and it feels like none of the actors tried, except for Jack Black. And even then, it doesn't feel like he tried his best either because this is his job. To act. Tiny Tina doesn't feel like Tiny Tina at all. It feels like they just nabbed a high profile, young actress to garner some kind of name for the movie. No offense to Ariana but she doesn't understand the feel of Tiny Tina or how psychotic that child is, her portrayal of Tina seems extremely flat. Did they not have Ashley Burch on set coaching her?! What?? (A friend of mine who does not watch movies for their life or at all for that matter and has only played Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, shared this exact same, unfiltered sentiment when I showed them this trailer.) Tannis doesn't feel like Tannis. Tannis is this literal insane, mad scientist with no regards for others. The way they're having Jamie Lee Curtis play her seems like the turned Tannis into a flight nerd scientist rather than a mad one with a tragic backstory. I didn't have high hopes for Florian Monteneau as Krieg at the beginning but after watching this I actually do. The fact they are using Kriegs voice lines from the game as audio for Krieg makes it better. I would know, Krieg is my favorite vault hunter and I know him inside and out, plus he's one of the center pieces on my tattoo sleeve. So Florian is the body and Jason is still the soul. Plus it's also Kriegs voice to a tee, and I know that voice anywhere This whole trailer is so disconnected and uncoordinated that the only interesting thing about it the villain, who they didn't even say who he was or his motives. Just a small half a second flash in trailer of his face What kind of strategy is that? Also, if you wanted this to be a Borderlands movie, you should focused a shit ton more on the vaults and vault monster. Not Atlas. (The same roommate I mentioned above said this exact same thing too. So when you have someone who's completely uncultured in movies and Borderlands saying this about the trailer, you have problems.) The producers could have gotten some respect by having Marcus intro the trailer by saying "Sooo you want to hear a story huh? One where the fate of Pandora hangs in the balance? If not, too bad I'm telling you anyways" or by having Scooter say "CAAATCH A RIIIDE". Why the hell would you show Marcus' bus and not Marcus. How is his bus more important than him???? Either of those two things would've made this trailer significantly better. (Edit): Thank you to the comments for telling me Marcus is in this trailer. But like, that's what they show of him? I didn't even recognize him when I watched it. That's how bad that was. They could've at least shown him dealing guns behind his store or showing one of the hunters how to use his vending machines if they've never used one before. Just something more important than having him standing and smiling for a half a second. Bobby Lee's cameo in the movie was more recognizable smh Why the hell is Mouthpiece, a minor boss from the beginning of Borderlands 3, in this movie?? How does that make sense? Where are Brick and Mordecai, what. They're literally intrinsic for the original vault hunting team and crimson raiders. What was that giant ass dragon thing in the trailer? Mothrakk? Son of Mothrakk? Why does the Rakk Hive at the end of the trailer have tentacles??? How does that make sense? Why did you show a bandit technical when those weren't made until Borderlands 2 (timeline wise, The Pre Sequel)? If you're going to have someone from your company come onto IGN and talk about the things from the game that you can find in the trailer and how the movie compares to the games, than you can't ask us fans to be happy about this movie or treat it as a separate entity from the games. If you're marketing strategy is "A movie adaptation of a game with it's own story line", your product will fail so hard. Look at Resident Evil, The Witcher, Halo, all of which are currently hated by their fan base and have zero respect from their fans for making these (well mind of Resident Evil, some of those are now cult classics and people clown on them for shits and giggles which made people actually like the movies lol. However their animated stuff is far superior) All of which, their respective companies said the exact same thing Gearbox and the producer has said about this movie. This movie is not going to do well, unless it's made as a TV show or Animated thing. (Edit): Also, this is Borderlands, it's known for one very important thing: the art style in which it's designed in. WHERE IS GEARBOX PATENTED SECRET CEL SHADING?!?! Gearbox has stated that it isn't cel shading but their own recipe based on Cel shading, WHERE THE HELL IS IT?? (Edit): Not to mention, there's rumors floating around that Handsome Jack will be shown in the post credit scene. Absolutely not. No. That's s travesty amongst everything else. Handsome Jack is the best video game villain of all time right next to Voss from Far Cry 3. Damian Clarke is the voice, mocap, and soul of Handsome Jack. I just watched the breakdown. That might be Brick underneath in charge of the bandit clan. Randy Pitchford said its not mouthpiece but hes not revealing who it is. He also pointed out it was important that this actor was bigger than Krieg. Mordecai might be a part of that clan as Reaver as a callback to the game so who knows.

Gonna be honest this movie could've been a slam dunk if they just made it a cinematic retelling of the first game with the OG characters Lilith, Roland, Brick, and Mordecai. The casting is bad and would've probably been in that scenario too, but at least it would make more sense and work as good comedic adventure film.
Just gotta ask, why did they have to include the "kid does annoying thing in back seat, so everyone drops what their doing to argue with them" trope? Felt to out of place, as tiny tina is basically reduced to being a bratty pre teen with a preference for random cartwheels.

Lilith looks 20 years older, the ultra serious military man is played by the comic relief, no brick, no Mordecai, im assuming no Maya so a big part of Kriegs character is gone, and the costumes look like shit. Who looked at this and thought it was a good idea?
Cassandra Peterson aka Elvira should really have been cast as Moxxi if we're going with the theme of an older cast than their ingame contemporaries. Forest Whitaker would've been a better match than Kevin Hart too.
I love this! I'm really confused and unhappy about the casting, but if they made EVERYONE old, that would...actually be really cool. I'm happy to see older female actors getting cool action parts...but this adaptation looks terrible. I wish they'd tried to stay even a little bit true to any aspect of the games.
This whole film will just be a set up for the sequel with handsome jack. Keep a eye out for whoever gets their face blown off they are coming back in the post credits scene.

I have almost a full Borderlands tattoo sleeve. I remember preordering Borderlands 2, the Pre Sequel, Tales from the Borderlands, Borderlands 3, and Tiny Tina's Wonderlands. My Xbox 360 profile says/has tracked that I've played Borderlands 2 for 13,000 hours. This is the most jarring trailer I've ever seen in my life and it hurts me so bad so the core. I'm one of the largest Borderlands fans on this planet. I have nearly all the graphic novels, books, and comic books in mint condition.
Kevin Hart said/stated that this is the most "serious" role he's ever prepped and played, his acting and this trailer says otherwise. The Roland we know would not even think about kicking Claptrap down a ladder well, literally all the other characters except for Roland would have done that. Also, it's weird ASF to see Roland, a character who is supposed to be 6'2, the same height as Lilith from the Games, while Cate Blanchett is nearly the exact same height as Roland from the games. You didn't think about putting Kevin on stilts/heels or doing some kind of perspective shots with the camera like how they did in LOTR and The Hobbit?
They're painting this movie to be like Guardians of the Galaxy, which you can't do. James Gunn has that title. They're making Cate Blanchett feel like Star Lord and it's ruining the character of Lilith. But even then, when the trailers for Guardians came out, they didn't make Star Lord take up 70% of the trailer time like they did to Cate. The Guardians trailer equally showcased all Guardians and who they were so you could get a sense of the characters you were going to be watching.
The budget for this movie was 100M and it feels like none of the actors tried, except for Jack Black. And even then, it doesn't feel like he tried his best either because this is his job. To act.
Tiny Tina doesn't feel like Tiny Tina at all. It feels like they just nabbed a high profile, young actress to garner some kind of name for the movie. No offense to Ariana but she doesn't understand the feel of Tiny Tina or how psychotic that child is, her portrayal of Tina seems extremely flat. Did they not have Ashley Burch on set coaching her?! What?? (A friend of mine who does not watch movies for their life or at all for that matter and has only played Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, shared this exact same, unfiltered sentiment when I showed them this trailer.)
Tannis doesn't feel like Tannis. Tannis is this literal insane, mad scientist with no regards for others. The way they're having Jamie Lee Curtis play her seems like the turned Tannis into a flight nerd scientist rather than a mad one with a tragic backstory.
I didn't have high hopes for Florian Monteneau as Krieg at the beginning but after watching this I actually do. The fact they are using Kriegs voice lines from the game as audio for Krieg makes it better. I would know, Krieg is my favorite vault hunter and I know him inside and out, plus he's one of the center pieces on my tattoo sleeve. So Florian is the body and Jason is still the soul. Plus it's also Kriegs voice to a tee, and I know that voice anywhere
This whole trailer is so disconnected and uncoordinated that the only interesting thing about it the villain, who they didn't even say who he was or his motives. Just a small half a second flash in trailer of his face What kind of strategy is that? Also, if you wanted this to be a Borderlands movie, you should focused a shit ton more on the vaults and vault monster. Not Atlas. (The same roommate I mentioned above said this exact same thing too. So when you have someone who's completely uncultured in movies and Borderlands saying this about the trailer, you have problems.)
The producers could have gotten some respect by having Marcus intro the trailer by saying "Sooo you want to hear a story huh? One where the fate of Pandora hangs in the balance? If not, too bad I'm telling you anyways" or by having Scooter say "CAAATCH A RIIIDE". Why the hell would you show Marcus' bus and not Marcus. How is his bus more important than him???? Either of those two things would've made this trailer significantly better.
(Edit): Thank you to the comments for telling me Marcus is in this trailer. But like, that's what they show of him? I didn't even recognize him when I watched it. That's how bad that was. They could've at least shown him dealing guns behind his store or showing one of the hunters how to use his vending machines if they've never used one before. Just something more important than having him standing and smiling for a half a second. Bobby Lee's cameo in the movie was more recognizable smh
Why the hell is Mouthpiece, a minor boss from the beginning of Borderlands 3, in this movie?? How does that make sense? Where are Brick and Mordecai, what. They're literally intrinsic for the original vault hunting team and crimson raiders. What was that giant ass dragon thing in the trailer? Mothrakk? Son of Mothrakk? Why does the Rakk Hive at the end of the trailer have tentacles??? How does that make sense? Why did you show a bandit technical when those weren't made until Borderlands 2 (timeline wise, The Pre Sequel)?
If you're going to have someone from your company come onto IGN and talk about the things from the game that you can find in the trailer and how the movie compares to the games, than you can't ask us fans to be happy about this movie or treat it as a separate entity from the games. If you're marketing strategy is "A movie adaptation of a game with it's own story line", your product will fail so hard. Look at Resident Evil, The Witcher, Halo, all of which are currently hated by their fan base and have zero respect from their fans for making these (well mind of Resident Evil, some of those are now cult classics and people clown on them for shits and giggles which made people actually like the movies lol. However their animated stuff is far superior) All of which, their respective companies said the exact same thing Gearbox and the producer has said about this movie. This movie is not going to do well, unless it's made as a TV show or Animated thing.
(Edit): Also, this is Borderlands, it's known for one very important thing: the art style in which it's designed in. WHERE IS GEARBOX PATENTED SECRET CEL SHADING?!?! Gearbox has stated that it isn't cel shading but their own recipe based on Cel shading, WHERE THE HELL IS IT??
(Edit): Not to mention, there's rumors floating around that Handsome Jack will be shown in the post credit scene. Absolutely not. No. That's s travesty amongst everything else. Handsome Jack is the best video game villain of all time right next to Voss from Far Cry 3. Damian Clarke is the voice, mocap, and soul of Handsome Jack. He himself is Handsome Jack and if you get anyone else aside from him to be Handsome Jack, you'll have lost so much respect from the fans and from gamers everywhere

I just watched the breakdown. That might be Brick underneath in charge of the bandit clan. Randy Pitchford said its not mouthpiece but hes not revealing who it is. He also pointed out it was important that this actor was bigger than Krieg. Mordecai might be a part of that clan as Reaver as a callback to the game so who knows.

The statement from the producers of Uncharted really says it all about the film.
Gonna be honest this movie could've been a slam dunk if they just made it a cinematic retelling of the first game with the OG characters Lilith, Roland, Brick, and Mordecai. The casting is bad and would've probably been in that scenario too, but at least it would make more sense and work as good comedic adventure film.

I love this! I'm really confused and unhappy about the casting, but if they made EVERYONE old, that would...actually be really cool. I'm happy to see older female actors getting cool action parts...but this adaptation looks terrible. I wish they'd tried to stay even a little bit true to any aspect of the games.
