  • On 13 September 2023, the summer retreat at Nara Gyana Retreat Centre (Dhudra Ling) was brought to conclusion.
Nara Gyana Retreat Centre, established by the 14th Gyalwa Shamarpa (the Red Hat Lama of Tibet), is one of the most important centres of Karma Kamtsang in that it is entirely dedicated to the practice and preservation of the Vinaya. Thus, all of the resident lamas are fully ordained monks (Bhikshu) who uphold daily practice precisely as it was laid out at the time of Buddha.
The summer retreat was performed by the Bhikshus and spanned over one and a half months. On the morning of the final retreat day, a ritual called Gag Ye was performed ("Gag" meaning block or barrier, and "Ye" meaning to clear or unblock).
On 14 September 2023, the Bhikshus who had completed the retreat circumambulated Sharminub Monastery and its surroundings. Those circumambulations symbolised the clearing or unblocking of the barriers of oath the monks had taken at the outset of their retreat.
The merit accumulated hereby is for all sentient beings and that there will be no obstacles to virtue. May all sentient beings be happy!
