Once he wasn't living up to your expectations you start looking for reasons to get out of that said contract. Even though the relationship was good between both parties you got him on a technicality because you weren't happy with what you were getting for your 100 million. Jim Harbaugh was smart not to take a huge contract like that or he would've been toast too before beating Ohio State two years in a row. Coaches need more than 4 to get their guys in but never take a contract over 7 or 8 years because the money will always mess thins up.

I equate it to a girl dating a really nice guy in HS and you have to break up because of college or something(Dantonio). Amicable breakup but you're still heartbroken. Then she goes to college and meets the frat guy with the motorcycle(Tuck) and is great in bed. They have a fun few years but then she finds out he's been banging her friend. Messy breakup, super toxic but a clean break. We're at that point now as State fans, shocked, but glad it's over and ready to move on with our lives.

He said he was an elite defensive coach (he wasnt) the fact he was a secondary coach and had one of the 10 worst pass defenses in the country all 4 years he was there spoke to that. WALKER made you delusional and overpaid for a guy most thought was overpaid when you first signed him. He made more money per year on his first contract than Dantonio ever did and that’s the best coach you’ve had in almost 70 years. We were right all along it just took you 4 years to realize it.
And MSU is not Michigans most hated rival. You’re 3rd. It’s Ohio, ND, and then by default the instate school that won’t go away. Now Michigan is your most hated rival but it ain’t the same over here.

And if ND was actually your second rival you wouldn't have backed out of that game. And Mike never said Tuck was an elite defensive guy. He also said the defense sucked but his strength was recruiting and when he actually did go out and recruit he was successful at it but nothing else. And UM fans didn't see shit🙄 they were just screaming that while punching air when they lost in 2021 and happen to have been right 2 years later.

In the new big ten they won’t be competing for the playoffs every year. I just don’t see Michigan state as a school like that even though mike d had some big success
