I have been in a brand new Mondeo back when it was launched. For quite a decent period of time. It had its own style statement and exclusivity. For the first time I saw a power window which had up and down buttons instead of push pull operation.
Also, for the first time then I saw audio controls in any car (which were not on steering but on a seperate stalk from where duster took its inspiration) in your current video I see a hole in the area on steering column. Maybe the stalk was removed at some point as there's an aftermarket HU installed.
Also perhaps it's maintenance. When I was driven around in the Mondeo, it was one of the most silent and well insulated cabins, almost nothing except Germans came close. The performance might be disappointing for you now but back then it was a rocket and more than enough for requirements
It's strange hearing a Mondeo being referred to as exotic. They are common here in UK and quite a few are used as taxis. Cheap to buy and cheap to run, good cars and better than walking or using the bus.
Not to forget, for the Mondeo, you get cheaper insurance as well, comparatively in the UK.

Ford mondeo was an underrated d-segment sedan of that time.A crazy thing about this car was that Ford had priced this car so expensive that this car compete with Mercedes Benz c-class of that time.
The only competition mondeo is Opel vectra 2.2 . Without review the opel vectra this review is incomplete b'coz both have almost same body line and but vectra is more powerful, more modern, lot's of amazing featured which are coming now days in 40-50 lac car. So vectra is way more ahead of it's time.

I have a mondeo with me.. it’s the most amazing car you could drive.. no the lights don’t flash on mine 😂 the steering and pedals don’t vibrate, the gear changing is smooth like butter, the ac works like a charm … the car doesn’t overheat… some changes need to be done with the suspension, but other that it’s been well taken care of ..done 50,000 from the previous owner…
the handling is super, and the pick-up is amazing…. And the sound of the at beautiful engine..man.. ! you don’t hear that anymore on modern cars… it feels like a family sports car or something.. very comfortable for people at the back and front..

The main issue with vehicle was it resembled Ford Ikon.. people thought it was just expensive model of ford ikon.. that's all. Mondeo was imported as CKD from Belgium Ford factory.
Ford escort, Daewoo Ceilo, Mitsu Lancer, Opel Astra.. Sedans of that time..
This car was a good looking car.i still remember the days when we used to drop ikon for the service and see this car as we could not even afford one and this was a luxury car in that time period 😀
I owned an Mondeo is it the by far most under rates car. Handling was amicable and the installation was awesome. Only drawback was imported spare parts it took 3 months for ford to procure the front logo. And it was a pain to open boneta for security checks.
Ford was Amazing. Due to politics and pressure from Corrupt companies Ford had to leave India. They also didn't release new models in India

Quite an unfair review.. To take an 18yr old example of an excellent car and then crap over it. I Had the good fortune of using it in its heyday for around 8 years & it was a lovely machine. Crossed 200kph on multiple occasions, hardly shook or wobbled. Suspension was neither too soft or hard, ride quality & driving pleasure were equally thought of. Very roomy back seat & the boot could easily fit two adult males (I'm assuming). Mileage was 6 if you're a spirited driver & 8 if you're easy on the pedals. You could even get 10kpl if driven sedately on highways, most Mondeos in India were chauffeur driven if I'm not mistaken. Parts were very expensive, I remember service & changing clutch cost 55k at the time. No wonder the resale on these beauties are as pathetic as this guys review.. And you can get one of these cars for as low as 1-2Lakhs.

I think that the current mondeo should have been named as Taurus and the current Taurus as mondeo as the style of earlier mondeo is similar to that of current Taurus and earlier Taurus' is similar to that of current Mondeo in my opinion.

Well can already see the amazing build quality of ford as it ages! This video is for Toyota haters too who kept calling ford is better than Toyota's (suv/sedans) and Honda sedans.
Anyway mondeo is an excellent driver's delight (until it breaks down) and has powerful engine too for its time but there's something wrong in this car...
Love these classics as they remind us our childhood days.
