Great video, and as an owner of 3 Blancpain Fiddys over the years, I don't mind what they've done. Don't love the execution, but it's ok, and I'm happy to see the Blancpain brand getting some coverage
Owner here. This is what I get from owners of bp watches. Mine is a bathyscaphe in titanium. The critics alway come from who never saw a bp in the flesh 😂
As an owner of two Blancpain am very happy with the execution the fully functional bezel and the system 51 rather than the poor man’s choice of the cheap quartz mouvement in the omega. The watch looks great and for once, we’ll be able not to service the watch but to replace the mouvement if need be. That’s already a massive plus which could justify (somehow) the price.

Some watch collectors see no problem spending $20k on a stainless steel watch but think $400 is a waste for a fun watch collaboration. I applaud Swatch, Omega, and Blancpain.
Thanks for the interesting history. I won't be nailing my wrist to anything but I also won't be getting a watch I'd have no occasion to wear. I must admit that having dived under 8 feet of ice in the Arctic Ocean (wearing a 5513), I momentarily thought about getting one as a sort of memento.

I was seriously tempted but give a few weeks and the clones versions will be about and they’ll probably have better specs (Seiko MechaQuartz, Sapphire Crystals and possibly a 316L case) for a lower price. What is service life of the System 51 movement? Probably considerably less than a MechaQuartz. The idea is a good one however with a bit more thought it could have been a brilliant one. Given the price, I’d have trouble convincing the Finance Director (Wife) that I need another watch.
So a game called Starfield came out and they had a collectors edition with a Chronomark watch. You should do a video on it. Rolex or Chronomark to the stars! Haha
Everything is disposable. How many of your precious "real" watches have been thrown away? Millions. How many cars written off? Swatch themselves have said the movement can be replaced if needed. There's no point coming here to prove your bona fides. Nobody is interested.
Great content. Thanks. Especially the last thing you mentioned. I won't be happy when a mechanical wach cannot be serviced. So,... another reason not to buy one of these watches....
Cheers mate, for the very informative and as always outstanding video. Despite some points that you could name as negative, I will definitely get at least one of the collection… or two. 😃
I like the watch, I think it's cool, but I'm now realizing how much of my love of the MoonSwatch hinged solely on the Mission to Mars model and it's nod to the Alaska Project watch. I appreciate the "No Rad" icon and the moisture indicator, but neither are things that I'd absolutely love to have like an Alaska Project. If I lived near a Swatch boutique and at some point a few months from now popped in and they had it, I'd probably have a hard time not picking one up, but I'm not quite as pumped on it as I was the MoonSwatch. Now if they'd used the design of the old Mil-Spec ones, like the Tornek Rayville TR-900, *that* I would have been pumped on.
Hey dude, you got one thing wrong. These watches do have a removable case back. They don't screw off but they do pop off and the movement is meant to be replaced and or serviced. Most system 51s are not built this way but I suppose they knew that enthusiasts would want something that they could maintain.
I will be happy to get one but I am not close to a Swatch shop. And even I was lucky to get a shop in my area, I did not queue to get one. Lastly, which one should I get ? I am living at the coast and the Atlantic Ocean is the one reaching but I was born on an island in the Pacific Ocean but aesthetically I do like the Antarctic Ocean version...
Thanks!

It is what it is, a non serviceable dive watch made of a non metallic substance. But they look very cool
I'm holding out for the Glashutte x Swatch colab
With a DDR color pathway?
im a huge fan of the original Fifty Fathoms…such a handsome watch n it’s my grail watch too…. Swatch just semi-killed my goal…
Does the Blancpain Swatch come in a diamond bezel....or just cubic zirconia?
Is that a real working moisture indicator or just a painted circle?
Hey dude, you got one thing wrong. These watches do have a removable case back. They don't screw off but they do pop off and the movement is meant to be replaced and or serviced. Most system 51s are not built this way but I suppose they knew that enthusiasts would want something that they could maintain.
Very informative.
