    • @Buonapappa

      Hi! yes, you can freeze all of them. The consistency might change once thawed that's why you will need to thaw them and than reheat. Once reheated and mixed they should come back to the original texture. Let me know should you have any question!

      Hi! good question! yes, you can freeze a recipe that you made using previously frozen ingredients. The frozen chicken is a good example. You have frozen chicken breast that you thaw to make chicken meatballs using other ingredients combined. Once ready you can freeze again the chicken balls. Ciao!

    Hi! Very informative video, thanks for making it! I have a question: sometimes, when I freeze my baby food, after thawing it I notice the texture has changed from creamy to chunky. I usually thaw baby food in the fridge. I don't freeze more than once, but usually don't put hot food directly in the freezer, I wait for it to cool down. What do I do wrong? Thanks, I hope someone can help me!

    • @Buonapappa
      @Buonapappa  7 лет назад +1

      Hi! you are not doing anything wrong, it's a natural process. Some ingredients simply separate once frozen (milk is a good example, the fat goes down and the watery part up). My suggestion is to thaw the baby food like you do (overnight in the fridge is perfect) and than simply reheat it in a pan or in the microwave before serving it. Mix it with a fork and the ingredients should combine again. If the food doesn't need to be reheated (like a fruit puree) simply blend it again to combine again the ingredients and get it smooth and creamy again! I hope I was helpful! thank you for following BuonaPappa!! ciao, b

    Very helpful videos! Thanks for explaining all the rules why something is safe or is not, that is very rare in the other videos. Question: after making the puree, do I need to wait for it to cool down before freezing or can I put it to freezer warm? Thanks in advance.

    • @Buonapappa
      @Buonapappa  7 лет назад

      Thank you so much for your kind comment! I always let the food cool down before refrigerating/freezing it for two reasons: 1. if I'm using a glass container I do not want the glass to break. 2. the warm food will decrease the whole refrigerator temperature affecting other foods inside. Just wait 20min and the food should be cooled down. Thanks for watching!!! b

    Hi,Barbara, love love love your cooking idea for baby,I have a question, quite stupid,I used blender to make potato purèe, but turned out like potato glue,how to fix it or have to bin it,as my baby is only 5 months,please help......love from Ireland 😙

    • @Buonapappa
      @Buonapappa  8 лет назад +1

      Hi! what you did is very common (I did it too at the beginning!!!). Potatoes have a lot of starch and when you use the blender to make the puree the speed breaks the starch into a sticky glue. In order to save the puree I would add some liquid (simply water or vegetable broth) and stir with a fork. At this point you can add some baby cereal to give some consistency back to the puree'. For any future potato puree I suggest you not to use the blender but a potato masher or a fork ;-)

    Great video. Feeding my 7 month old DD since she turned six months. I started freezing food and to save time I froze mixed purees. Is that ok to freeze mixed purees or is it best practice to freeze single ingredients?

    • @Buonapappa
      @Buonapappa  7 лет назад +3

      You can freeze the final recipe without any problem! To be precise, some ingredients might separate during the freezing process. In that case you simply thaw the baby food and than reheat it. When it's warm again simply stir it and the ingredients should combine again. I hope I was helpful!! Thank you so much for watching BuonaPappa!! ciao, b

    • @Buonapappa
      @Buonapappa  7 лет назад

      Hi Erika! usually a freshly cooked baby food can stay in the refrigerator for up to 3 days in an air tight container. for thawed or warmed baby food I would suggest 2 days. Thank you for watching BuonaPappa!!! ciao, b

    • @erikajeansalazar7464

      What if I keep newly cooked baby food at room temperature? How long would it last?

    • @nathalielockhart974
      @nathalielockhart974 7 лет назад

      I wouldn't give my DD anything that has been at room temperature after 3-4 hours. Think of it like formula, once the baby's saliva has touched the food then it starts to grow bacteria. BP! I really loved your video, it gave me a better timetable on how long I can store my baby food. Thank you!

    +BuonaPapaa... When can we start put seasoning in baby food? Also what beans or lentils are best for baby/toddlers?

    • @Buonapappa
      @Buonapappa  8 лет назад

      Hi! seasoning like fresh herbs and spices (garlic, basil, bay leaves, thyme, sweet paprika, cumin...) can be added since the beginning (6 months). It's a great way to add flavors to your baby food. Of course, just use a tiny quantity of them, a pinch. Salt & added sugar should be avoided up unti 1 year or even more if you can. From a nutritional point of view they are NOT needed in a baby/toddler diet and they are difficult to process by the baby/toddler body. I would suggest to avoid Pepper and spicy spices (red peppers/japalenos) up until 12 months as they will upset your baby's tummy.
      Beans/lentils. They are a great source of vegetable proteins for the little ones. I particularly like red lentils for babies as they are very creamy once cooked. The green or black ones tend to stay a bit crunchy even cooked. Beans: garbanzo/chickpeas are a good first choice for babies for their very creamy texture and delicate skin. Also Cannellini or black beans are very good. If your little one doesn't like the bean skin you can simply puree' everything to make them smooth. Thank you so much for watching BuonaPappa and let me know should you have any more questions!! ciao, b

    • @Buonapappa
      @Buonapappa  3 года назад

      Hi! Good question. You have more options. If you need to serve the food right away you might want to use the microwave. If you plan ahead you can thaw the food slowly in the refrigerator overnight and than simply warm it either in the microwave or on the stove before serving it. If it's a food that can be served cold or at room temperature like a fruit puree, you can thaw it in the refrigerator and serve without warming it up. Let me know if you have any other questions! • @Buonapappa
      @Buonapappa  5 лет назад +1

      Hi! Some fruit require cooking like apples for example so they are easier to digest. Other fruit (banana, pear, peaches, berries, plums...) can be pureed raw. Also, some fruit can be pureed with the skin (buy organic) like pears or apples, but young babies (6 months) do not digest easily the skin, so I suggest to peel fruit for little ones. Let me know if you have more questions! ciao, b

    Can we freeze the baby food with spinach on it? I read spinach contains nitrate.

    • @Buonapappa
      @Buonapappa  8 лет назад

      +Evelyne C Hi Evelyne! That's a good question. yes, you can prepare homemade baby food using spinach and freeze it. Spinach, like green beans, carrots, squash, spinach, cabbage, broccoli and beets, can have higher nitrate levels compared to other vegetables. That's why the American Academy of Pediatrics suggests not to give homemade baby puree with these vegetables to infants younger than 4 months. Between 4 and 6 months babies start developing the stomach acids necessary to fight the bacteria that brings to nitrate poisoning. If you consider that the general recommendation is to introduce solid food in a baby's diet at around 6 months, the probability of nitrate poisoning from homemade baby food is close to 0. If you want to know more about this topic I can send you the link to some AAP articles. Thank you for watching BuonaPappa!! b

      +Evelyne C Hi Evelyne! Thank you so much ;-) here you are the links to my sources. The AAP article pediatrics.aappublications.org/content/116/3/784.full and also the Mayo Clinic www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/infant-and-toddler-health/in-depth/healthy-baby/art-20046200?pg=2
      As you can see nitrate poisoning is mainly related to the water that you give to your baby, not to the homemade baby food. Let me know should you need any additional info! Ciao!!! b

    Which month I can start giving first food

    • @Buonapappa
      @Buonapappa  8 лет назад +1

      +Nasreen Banu Hi! The pediatric association recommends introducing solid food in your baby's diet between 4 and 6 months. Before that your baby's digestive system is simply not ready to process solid food :-) With my two kids I started at 6 months as I didn't think they were ready at 4 months. It's fun but you will see when your baby will be ready. He will start showing interest in what you are eating and he might even try to take your fork/spoon! Ciao, b

    Hi what if it's Breast milk from the fridge? can I freeze refrigerated breast milk

    • @Buonapappa
      @Buonapappa  7 лет назад

      yes, you can. The suggestion is not to freeze breastmilk that has previously been frozen: never freeze twice the same food. Thank you for watching BuonaPappa!! b

    what kind of food that shouldn't be frozen?

    • @Buonapappa
      @Buonapappa  7 лет назад

      Almost anything can be frozen, with some exceptions:
      - whole eggs (with shell). Simply because the shell will crack and bacteria might get in.
      - fresh leafy vegetables rich in water: lettuce, salads, cucumbers. The texture will totally be messed up once thawed.
      - ricotta, cream cheese. once thawed the water content will separate from the milk, making the cheese texture weird.
      I hope I was helpful!!
      thank you so much for watching BuonaPappa!! b

      LOL, my kids are growing so fast and very soon they will be cooking instead of eating my baby purees ;-)
      As BuonaPappa is mainly baby food, right now I'm feeding my friends babies, eh, eh. When I film a recipe I freeze the baby purees and I take them to my friends ;-)
