Hi Toby! Hope you're well! Today Cambridge gave me my FCE exam results and I passed! I got 176!! I reached level B2!! Almost C1!! I'm super happy and it's all thanks to you! Really thank you very much. And for all of you who are reading this, I swear that SMASH English is the best course you can take, I met him shortly before taking my exam and he helped me a lot. I was very nervous because I had not been able to prepare for the certification that had been postponed due to the pandemic, plus the school that had me super pressured. Nonetheless, my English teacher showed us one of your videos and I loved it! Then I saw all the ones I could until the day of my exam and I promise it was 100% worth it. Thanks to Toby I passed my exam.
Awww, man! I remember you! It's been a long time since you commented so thank you so much for coming back to tell me the good news! You really did a fantastic job! I'm very happy for you!
I'm so happy to hear that, Belen! People always think exam based lessons are boring and preparing for an exam is stressful, but NO. It does not have to be this way! Excellent job! Thanks for stopping by with the good news!
What a great video! I'm so happy I came across your channel, you really helped me boosting my preparation. I'll take my exam tomorrow but, even if everything goes as I wish ,I'll surely keep watching your contents!
Future me here! Everything went quite well, the reading and use of english part wasn't that difficult and I feel pleased about what I wrote in the essay. At the beginning of the speaking part though I was so nervous I couldn't create a decent sentence, luckily I managed to calm down after few minutes. Thanks for asking and for your advices of course!
Don't worry about the speaking exam! The first part is designed to help you relax a little bit so any problems caused by nerves should not affect your final score! Let me know when you've found out you've passed!
Hey Toby, I am doing my FCE this month and I wanted to say I found your videos extremely helpful so far! Do you have any tips on how I could stay inside the word limit and not write too much for the essay part?
Yes of course! Check out these videos here! ruclips.net/video/fgt_JH4xzjo/видео.html& ruclips.net/video/K9UL9rsD-_8/видео.html&ab_channel=SMASHEnglish-CambridgeEnglishExamPreparation
I followed Toby's writing tips and coached a 10-year-old Chinese girl to sit for FCE in 2022. She not only passed the test, but also scored the highest in her writing.
My dear Toby.. greetings from México! I'm taking My B2 first in July! And all your videos have been incredibly helpful. Excuse me, can I use " to start off".. to Start the first paragraph? And again.. thanks!
"To start off" is a great expression. I would say however that it is slightly informal. "start off" is a phrasal verb. It may be better to use in an article, review or informal letter/email. Thanks for the comment, Mike!
Thanks so much Toby! Not only for enlightening us with these amazing expressions, but also to create such funny videos! Keep it up! (Yes, I've been watching the Phrasal verb series, and so what?)

Hi Toby! I heard that in the FCE exam you have to write an "opinion essay".. so, is it mandatory to use expressions like " I think", "I firmly believe", "in my opinion" etc?? Thanks a lot! (You are great!!)
Thanks Toby I feel more confident on how to use linking words properly for the b2 fce essay. Consequently, I've just suscribed to his channel. But could he explain the puntuation? I would aprecciate it so much

Dear Toby, my daughter got e-mail from British Council with how to "organise your essay", their structure looked like this: Paragraph 1 - introduction = what the essay is about and the writers opinion, Paragraph 2 - Reasons ... SO, should the opinion be in paragraph 1? Or in the conclusion, as you said? Thank you very much. L.
Hello! Yes! Still valid. There is not just one "valid" essay structure. The one I suggest on my channel may be different to that suggested by others. There is no right or wrong structure, provided it fulfils the assessment criteria. Hope that helps!
