Thanks for that, Victoria! The problem with going above the limit is you may include irrelevant information which would result in lower marks for CONTENT. If you write too little then you would struggle to "inform the target reader" by not including everything necessary. This would also cost you marks in CONTENT. I personally would aim for the upper limit.

@@Mamonroba very difficult. I had trained a lot, but I encountered with hard tasks. A lot of new words in Use of English part 1. And unfamiliar Phrasal verbs. However I did a lot of tests

In reality, no it is not a mistake. In the context of the Cambridge exams... YES it is a mistake. This is simply because you need to demonstrate to the examiners that you understand the tone of the writing task. If the tone is informal then please always use contractions when you can.
Hmmm, no. I would avoid using these when writing, even informally. If you are writing to friends **in real life** then it's fine. I would not do it in an exam setting though.
