  • The Food Waste Index serves as a critical tool for tracking the progress of countries towards the ambitious goal of having food waste by 2030.
    इस रिपोर्ट में कहा गया है कि दुनिया में जितने लोग रोजाना भूखे सो जाते हैं, उससे कहीं ज्‍यादा अनाज रोजाना बर्बाद हो जाता है। इसमें सबसे बड़ी भूमिका होटल और रेस्‍तरां वाले निभाते हैं। दरअसल, संयुक्‍त राष्‍ट्र की रिपोर्ट में कहा गया है कि साल 2022 में वैश्विक स्‍तर पर कुल अनाज उत्‍पादन में से 19 प्रतिशत अनाज यानी करीब 1.05 अरब टन अनाज बर्बाद हो गया था। संयुक्त राष्ट्र पर्यावरण कार्यक्रम की खाद्य बर्बादी सूचकांक रिपोर्ट, वर्ष 2030 तक खाद्य बर्बादी को आधा करने के लिए देशों की प्रगति की निगरानी करती है। इस रिपोर्ट में कहा गया है कि अगर अनाज की बर्बादी को रोक लिया जाए तो दुनिया से भुखमरी समाप्‍त की जा सकती है।
