They aren't banned by the FCC, it's just that they have access to frequencies that aren't typically allowed for public use since they're made in China (like police and other public service frequencies). So long as you do not transmit over these prohibited frequencies, you are totally within your rights to use these radios. As for requiring a license, however, since these do have access to the amateur radio bands, you are legally required to be licensed to transmit on these radios. You can receive all you want, but it is illegal to transmit without a license. I doubt that anybody is going to get arrested or fined for using them, so long as they're on safe frequencies (FRS frequencies are generally safe to use, between 462 & 467 MHz).
Great video. About to follow up on an earlier enquiry to JCI about a racal setup but want to know how reliable and clear is the mic on the racal earbuds? No no no not baofeng plz plz not baofeng
And after reading the comments this is my take on this radio.
Yea fiuck it , cyclists jump red lights, motorists drive over 100mph, bollocks to the legalities of the em spectrum, sod ofcom, the fcc, the faa and all the government radio agencies around the globe , Fred got a radio for 20 quid he doesn’t need to comply to any laws or regulations, why not play airsoft with firearms and lead who gives a shit.
Wow Terry .... You need a Manifesto. Let's be very clear we are not advocating the use of any illegal or legal firearms. Using a radio and shooting people are very very far apart.
The Heresy Group oh I see so it’s ok to break the law re radio regulations then but you draw the line at war?
Again using a radio and killing people Terry.... Killing people !
The Heresy Group I would say the radio is probably the cheapest piece of kit in your setup
Ole Terry’s off his meds again
