Good Morning , just come across your channel I'm retired, Early Retirement I'm 55. Anyway I'm starting to build models again for the first time since I was approx 14 years old, just thought I'd let you know I've just checked regarding where Airfix Models are manufactured and there made in England.

No idea where you got that information, manufacturing takes place in India and packaged in the UK.

The Defiant had (very) limited success at the start of the war, mainly because its shape from a distance resembles a Hawker Hurricane, and Lufwaffe pilots attacked it from astern. After a few "bloody noses" the Germans swiftly learned the lesson and the Defiant was eventually reduced to a target tow

According to author Alec Brew (and others) the Hurricane-resemblance thing is a myth. The Defiant was unveiled at one of Britain's last air shows in 1939 and members of the Luftwaffe were included in those who got a very close look at the Defiant. So by the time war broke out Germany already knew about the Defiant, its weaknesses and its strengths. No. 264 was the first Defiant squadron and they had the job of developing tactics for it, including both how to attack and how to defend themselves, the latter being forming the aircraft into a circle so that each aircraft defended the one behind it.
Mostly, the Defiant's bad reputation (again, according to Brew) stems from the second Defiant squadron, No. 141, and their mishandling of the aircraft. Brew states that 264's Squadron Leader Hunter briefed 141's Squadron Leader Richardson on the tactics that had been developed before 141 became active but that, for whatever unknown reason, Richardson chose to ignore the advice. Thus, when 141 was 'bounced' by Messerschmitts, the Defiants were slaughtered. Brew further states that later in the Battle of Britain, when the Defiant had been moved onto night-fighting duties, 264 and 141 were briefly stationed on the same airfield but, after only ten days 264 was sent elsewhere due to the frequent fights between the two squadrons, with 264's men blaming 141 for their being withdrawn from daylight operations.
As far as the Defiant's redeployments go, it also served as Britatin's first Electronic Countermeasures aircraft, as an Air-Sea Rescue aircraft and, eventually, as a target tug. So it was pretty versatile, all things considered.

@@elennapointer701 I think the myth came from a Warlord comic back in the 1970's which had a story based on the information John Price gave.
