Recently picked one up to round out my 1/48 scale BoB collection. Kit looks great, but I have to agree 100% with you that the landing gear doors are too thick (the main doors could have been two parts) and lack of surface detail & rivets. The Airfix Spitfire & Hurricane also have pilot figures; none for the Defiant. Every modern kit should include Masks, figures & display stands, sorta like the new Tamiya F-35B. Love the content and format of your channel.

Another great review Jon. I see you do what I do on Airfix kit instructions…scratching out the paint colors on individual steps. Airfix should do a better job of cross referencing paint to other paints other than Humbrol, otherwise it looks like an easy and decent kit. Thanks!

What an excellent model it looks, I built a 1:72 Defiant airfix in my youth, I took a special liking to that plane, I remember being very satisfied with its construction, I remember having painted it completely black, today I would like to put it back together, Thanks to this video I have been convinced to invest in the 1:48 Airfix, since it is available in the store I buy.
Regarding the video, the colors you have used, what brand of paint do they correspond to? It looks very good, a separate point is the camouflage drawing, it turned out, in my opinion, perfect.
One of the moments that I really like in the kit assembly process is masking the cabin canopies on my own, hahahahaha in fact a Ju 88 ICM in 1:48 was quite a challenge, I had bought a Montex set, but It didn't work, it was for the Dragon version, however it was not necessary to use them because of what was written previously hahahaha.
These new Airfix kits, despite small situations of fit, which only need to be sanded a little and tested, I really liked them, the ones I was able to put together have left me very happy with their results, I know that some modellers have criticized several models, but for me so far none of them have been a negative kit.
Greetings Jon, thank you for allowing us constant feedback and thank you for your kind help and answers, until the next video.

Thanks, Francisco! Your comments and feedback are appreciated! I used my favorite PolyScale acrylic paints, which are no longer in production 😪. The colors are British Dark Earth, Dark Green, and Beige Green. Airfix has good color callouts in the instructions. I wish you lived next door - I would let you do the masking on my kits! I can do it. I'm just not a fan of that step. Until next time, Cheers!

@@jonsmodelkitreview4624 "Beige green" is the name of enamel Humbrol #90, which is an approximation of MAP Sky Type "S" colour. Ministry of Aircraft Production (MAP) prescribed Sky Type "S" for the period and aircraft duty.

Having built some Classic Airframes kits, I would still go with the Airfix for its buildability. The Airfix kit comes with extra radar masts, so I think there is a night-fighter boxing as well. It would be interesting to see the two kits side-by-side to compare. Cheers!

Definitely a unique aircraft, that huge turrent makes the model really stand out, although wonder why the Brits made it so big - maybe for night time observation As always beautiful finish. Cheers till the next vid

Thank you! I think the turret was lifted directly from a bomber so they wouldn't have to re-engineer it. As big as it looks, there's not much room inside. Cheers!
