10 years later and KCP has been a starter on two championship teams. The player the Pistons shoulda took was McCollum or Giannis, but definitely not Burke.
Let’s not pretend like KCP was a driving force for those championships. He’s a good role player. He never moved the needle as the second or third best player on your team. I wouldn’t really give Dumars flowers for that pick just because KCP has been the 5th best player at best on championship teams.
Trey Burke isn’t hometown. His hometown is Columbus. He played his university ball in the Pistons backyard, but his game clearly didn’t translate to the NBA game well.
he was saying it was an option dude arent you listening? he was more frustrated with dumars and the way he handled the draft true yes it was a weak draft but having the option of two players panning out is better than 1.
This is nonsense. The worst move of Dumars career would come weeks later, when he traded B. Knight and Middleton for Jennings, and Valenti supported it. He knows a lot of names, but he doesn't know basketball. Two things he says here "KCP's not a great athlete" and "Mclemore is the best player in the draft". Actually, I just watched this season and KCP is a great athlete and I'm pretty certain Mclemore blows. KCP had a bad season too, but you see very good intangibles and potential in KCP, none in Mclemore.
I think Valenti's flat out wrong, and I thought he was at the time. Trey Burke is very advanced for his age, but he's limited. I'm sure Burke will put up numbers, all PG's do, but I think within 3 years it will be clear KCP is the more versatile, higher impact player. He's the type of guy coaches love, great D, plays team ball. He's got amazing defensive hands. He's the type of player you build a winning franchise with, he does everything well and yet probably won't be a big cap hit. I think KCP will be a very good pick looking back 5, 7 years from now.
sam madison Looking back on this 3 years later, KCP is no longer a Piston as they couldn’t justify keeping him after his rookie deal expired. Burke is playing in the D league. In all reality, neither would have been a good pick.
Burke is too slow and too small to guard anyone in the NBA. Doesn't have the athleticism to get open looks for himself either. His shooting is really gonna suffer at the next level. You'll see, be patient.
'Lifeless, boring, dead franchise'... Rated 8th most watchable team this year though... The opinions these guys muster up are seriously grade A shit. I'm gonna ring Mike V and call him out once KCP is named to all rookie team 2. Minnesota has done a pretty good job bringing/evaluating talent as of late. Kevin Love, Rubio, Shved. Is Trey Burke a better fit for this team? LOL no. What kind of market is there at 14 & 21? Solomon Hill & Tony Snell? KCP is a great athlete..these guys know shit
its hilarious that 10 years later we're still in purgatory -__-
RIP JAIME
RIP Jamie! Miss that guy

Interesting looking back, and KCP has now been a significant contributor on two championship teams
that aren't named the Pistons
4 years later, KCP still isn't a starting 2 guard in the leauge.
Actually he is and he's due to get a pretty sizeable payday. Burke meanwhile is struggling to get any playing time.
Valenti and Foster....WHOAAAA (insert Space theme) love these guys
Hey man, thanks for the Valenti upload. These are much appreciated.
The one guy sounds like the voiceover on "The Wonder Years." LOL
Eric Sisco one of the best shows ever
Rip jamie
mad about dynamic pricing, I wonder what younger Mike would think of they way all of this crap is today. The dude woulda had a heart attack of anger
The only first round pick starter we've drafted before Weaver also a 2 time champion lol
And as of today, it appears that Joe Dumars was right... And Valenti was right...

We shall see.
No problem, I'm a big fan of the guy.
This franchise to him is just a toy and a very forgotten toy. Collecting dust.
R.I.P. Detroit Pistons
Joe D's a bum! That's from Will.
He couldn't be more wrong about what happened lol
We missed Giannis

Joe D was right with all his picks except Darko
Deтroιт313Daѕн! Rodney Stuckey? Austin Daye? Arron Afflalo? He was not right with all of his picks. Far from it.
Michael Scott To be fair Stuckey was a decent value pick at the time just never fully developed
Dumars was a HORRIBLE GM

whoa....I guess his career is over. SL.
Oveerrated Burke blew all week in SL dude is gunna be a scrub at the next level..
I love how Valenti thinks he knows everything about sports and can run a team.
KCP was better than Burke. KCP fell off, Burke is a “never was” at the NBA level.
Wish we had Dumars these days
