Quinn Electronic Torque Wrench Review

- Recently purchased a Quinn Electronic Torque Wrench from Harbor Freight and wanted to check out how it compares to the Pittsburgh Professional click-type torque wrenches. Also, wanted to give the 1/2" Milwaukee Stubby Impact Wrench another chance of redemption after it failed to remove the differently mounting bolts in the previous video.
Quinn Electronic Torque Wrench: #64916
Pittsburgh Profession Click-Type Torque Wrench: #63882
Milwaukee 1/2" Stubby Impart Wrench: #2555-20
Was just looking for reviews on the wrench and thought this was well put together so I decided to see what else you had with only 131 subscribers. Looks like a lot of the same type of stuff I like to do so I'll go ahead and make 132. Always enjoy seeing other view points and ways of doing things!
Thanks for watching and thanks for becoming a subscriber. Working on getting the new garage/shop put together and then more videos from there. Cheers 🍺
Thank you for showing the measurements on the digital torque. Very helpful.
You bet! Thank you for watching 👍
Building an LS engine and wanted to upgrade, glad this video validates my purchase lol.
Been serving me well 👍
Nice video. I'm looking for a torque wrench (upgrade from my clicker type) and ran across the HF wrench. So now watching reviews before I decide to go the HF route. This was an excellent review and looks like a great value and quality tool. HF has been stepping up quality over the last few years.
I agree. This seems to have the quality that a diy'r such as myself should come to expect. Of course, time will tell if it holds up to the abuse I put it through. Thanks for watching the video! Cheers.
@@WeekendWrenchTurner how’s it holding up ??
Still going strong 💪💪 Using it to torque everything down on my friends '65 Chevelle build right now!!
Working on a 2013 Cadillac ATS with the 2.5L n.a. motor. Interesting design, not what I am used to working on. Anyways, head bolts call for; Step 1) 22ft/lbs Step 2) 190°
This video was key about buying this torque wrench to use. If it works, why not. Thanks for the video man!
Thanks 👍🍺 Happy it helped 🤟
Great video..... exactly what I was looking for. If you're running 2 mics for sound, look at the "3 to 1 rule" so as to reduce phasing effect
Thanks for checking out the video 🤘 It was hard trying to run sounds with two mics, so I'm using it as backup in the event something goes haywire.🍺👍
Sounds good to me. I mainly use one for oil drain plugs.
Thanks for checking out the video👍🎄
You are definitely a Harbor Freight fan!! 👍🏾
Guilty as charged🍺
Awesome man I just bought mine yesterday same one hell yeah that's awesome thanks
Still working great for me!! Thanks you checking out the video👍👍
Its funny seeing all the comments from so calked professional mechanics. At my shop we have to go behind so called professionals everyday specifically the ones at dealerships. My shop specializes in engine building.
I like that you did not just pull to a full 90 deg. all at once. I work on cars and trucks. Most of the time when need to work on the head it is still in the vehicle and to torque them down can not just go to the 90 with out moving the wrench back to pull again.
Yeah, this wrench has been working well for me. Thanks for watching!!
Gonna pick one up! Thanks for the video!!!
I think they're worth it👍 Thanks for watching🍺✌️
I have both Quinn d.t.w,
I like them, I just need more car parts for them.
Right!! I'm considering the 3/8 one as well so that it fits into tighter spaces as well. Thanks for watchin!!
The instructions say don’t grab the tool by the end
Who follows instructions! 🤣😂🤣😂
Please make a video on click torque wrench against digital torque wrench where you set the same value on both and turn until we hear the click and the long beep at the same time or not.
That's a great idea! Need to revisit this 🤟
Why didn't you torque the bolt with the Quinn torque wrench inside the Quinn torque adapter and compare the two readings?
That's a good observation. I guess at the time I did this video I didn't think to check to see if they matched up. Thanks for watching!
@@WeekendWrenchTurner Thanks for responding!!
Seems like at 175 it never quite hit the 175 mark, it most likely kept turning because either the fastener threads were yielding or the threads in the plate were yielding; pretty sure it would of just sheered the fastener head.
Should use a 10.9 fastener instead of an 8, that particular size should yield at right around 185 ft lbs (around there).
Unless I'm dead wrong, and if I am then I'm sure someone who's been "working with grade 8 bolts for 85 years" knows the EXACT data off the top of their head.
Other than that, great demonstration of a tool anyone can afford.
Looking back, it did tear up the threads up on that plate. It was only 1/4" hot rolled, so it would have been better to use something thicker. Thanks for watching!!
I need more car parts for both my Quinn torquewrenches.
Story of my life. Thanks for watching 👍
I'm itching to use my Quinn torquewrenches more often, need more car parts
Are you a bot, drunk commenting, or just like to comment (almost sounds like advertisement) on Quinn videos every few months? You basically posted identical comments on the official harbor freight video for this thing.
Lol!
Let’s say my cars drain bolt needs to be torqued to 25foot pounds.. If I put it to 25FT-lb then it should beep green when it reached that torque right?
You've got it. Thank for watching 👍🍺
@@WeekendWrenchTurner Thanks was confused with all the settings and I just want it for basic torquing that’s it lol
Good video
Thanks for checking it out. Really liking the new torque wrench!
Have you tried the 1/4in digital one? I’m not sure what’s wrong with mine but I was using “in pounds” and it never once’s beeped, I was installing my intake on my 01 Suburban. And the 1st pass was 44 in pounds and the 2nd was 89. Well needless to say, I couldn’t get it to beep, plus the numbers were solid numbers meaning, it said, 440 I figured it would say 44.0 so I have no clue. I switched over to my clicker. Cause I had to make sure it was torqued! It’s the first time using it that one. I do have a 1/2 one and it works perfectly! Any suggestions? Thanks.! 🤝
I think there's a way to turn the beeping on and off 👍🍺
Looks great I will get one
Thanks for checking out the video 👍
Weekend Wrench Turner yessir
Hey bro, thanks for the video!
I'm really confused about something and I'm hoping you can clear it up.
I torqued my heads yesterday and I'm not sure I did it correctly.
OK, so the spec called out 22lb/ft for the first pass. I did that.
Then, I switched the mode to angle. The display showed 360, but I didn't change that, I just torqued the bolt up to the angle I wanted and called it.
Did I do this wrong by not setting up a preset torque value/angle? I didn't quite understand what the instructions were trying to tell me.
Or is the way I did it ok?
Thanks so much in advance and happy new year.
Not sure I understand what it was you did, but it sounds like as when you were using it in angle mode it wasn't telling you how many degrees it had gone in that motion? If I understand that right, it was not working properly as it will show you the angle you've gone and you can stop at your own discretion.
@@WeekendWrenchTurner No, what I did was do one pass at 22ft. Then I switched to angle mode, didn't set the angle to any preset, left it at 360, did the next pass to the degrees I wanted and called it good. It did track degrees as soon as I started torquing the bolt.
Oh, got it. You're doing it right. You could set an angle so it beeps when you're getting close, etc, but either way works! Thanks for watching the video🍺👍
@@WeekendWrenchTurner ok I think I gotcha, I guess what through me off was the initial torque value and how that relates to the angle. So sorry to belabor the point!
Like what if I torqued all the bolts to 22lb/ft and came back the next day. Let's say when I turn the torque wrench on it shows 0lb/ft, I switch it to degrees and do the angle torquing then? Am I think WAYYYYY to much into it?
It's all good, but it think you're right in that you're thinking way too into it. There's other issues if you came back and that 22ft/lbs wasn't the torque value on those bolts.
I put alot of Rothschild investment
Into Quinn. So it is my grab n go and
Go-to for tools. But I'm limited to certain tasks and tools , cause I dont own all 104 icon hand tools. But that's fine.
:-0
The small Quinn does it torque on lower like 6ft/lb?
It does, the smaller 3/8" Quinn electronic torque wrench handles the 5-100 ft/lbs range. Thanks for watching 👍
Is the wrench actually usable through the whole range?
I've used it for up to 185 ft/lbs so far. I've rechecked that bolt a couple of times too👍 Thanks for watching🍺👍
Already checked my tire lugs lol 😂
Love it!!
🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
At 3:00 and he just got the batteries in...
Lol 😂
Can you make the same video with the 3/8 digital version
I needed an excuse to give my wife to get the Quinn 3/8" wrench. You may have just given it to me 😀 Thanks for watching!!
How has this been holding up for you?
I don't use it every day, but I have used it about a dozen times to torque down the lug nuts (83 ft/lbs) on the 4Runner. It's held up so far and is still solid. Thanks for watching.
You're checking a Chinese tool with another Chinese tool..m
Thanks for checking out the video👍
Not a good tool for the pro mechanics. I give mine way after a month. Waiting for my gearwrench it does have angle and is flex head.
Yeah, I'm sure for the pros, it may be a little less than ideal. Still, for the diy'r, not a bad purchase, IMHO. Thanks for watching!
@@WeekendWrenchTurner besides not having a flex head why would it not be good for the pro mechanic ?
I think it's mostly because they have yet to be proven to last. I very well could be wrong though. Could be the just the Harbor Freight reputation. Thanks for checking out the video 👍
I was looking at the Gearwrench torque wrench and surprisingly it has far worse reviews. I couldn't find anything bad on the Quinn. After looking at the sk tools, cdi, gearwrench I decided to order the Quinn. The sk tools torque wrench is 10 to 100 ft lbs as opposed to the Quinn digital which also features in lbs.
I've been real happy with mine. Thanks for checking out the video 👍👍
