I have been using only 2 bows on build: Shortbow - Barrage/Shortbow - Mighty Shot. Swapping between these 2 bows, feels like I am switching skills rather than the bow itself. I don't use any of the long bows. I also wear Briar armour for extra roll damage, as I am always rolling past enemies (or PVP opponents) when using bows. As enemies and players are always chasing you down, I was wondering how to improve the roll damage. I then started playing around with the following spell and physick tear to support the roll damage on this build: Physick - Tear that replenishes HP over time. Spell - Fires Deadly Sin: This sets your body on fire and causes damage to yourself and enemies. However, using the physick offsets the damage. It's quite an interesting build in that you can roll and fire off a shot, which means applying 2 sets of damage all in one motion. If you end up trying this build, any tips on improving it would be great to know.
Sounds very unique. I might have to give it a try, and see how effective it is in various situations. I have yet to find a real viable archer build, so this could be something interesting to try out.
The regular bows do only slightly more damage than the light bows, but have much longer range. Since damage falls off with range, the main problem with light bows is they need to be used at short range, which means you will probably end up wearing the range talisman, whereas you do not really need it with the regular bows. On the plus side, the light bows fire much faster than the regular bows. The regular bows are too slow to use in combat, they are really only for sniping. (The exception being the Black Bow, which has regular bow range but light bow damage and fire rate, making it probably the best bow in the game.) I've used both light and regular bows, and the range and fire rate is more important than the damage. I mostly snipe, so I use a regular bow, but if I was going to fight bosses with a bow I would use a light bow because you can fire and dodge easily. All the light bows do almost the same damage. People think the composite bow does more damage, but it does not. The misbegotten bow does slightly more damage, the harp bow slightly less - but the difference is minimal. I prefer the red branch bow because it weighs less and it scales better with dex, while the misbegotten bow scales better with strength. The red branch bow drops reasonably often from the page enemies, although you still might end up killing them 10x due to bad luck. The composite bow is probably easier to get, and the two perform similarly, but the composite bow does not have barrage, and the ashes of war for barrage is less easy to get, while mighty shot is very easy to get if you want to put it on the red branch bow. You could, of course, just use the short bow, since the difference in damage scaling is almost nothing. Whatever bow you are using, you will probably end up switching to either the Black Bow or the Pulley Bow. If you like light bows, the Black Bow is the best (even though it is not classed as a light bow), and if you like sniping then the pulley bow is best. The Black Bow is in the capital city, while the Pulley Bow is in Mt Gelmir - so neither are easy to get early on.
@@DarkStaruGames Bows are not very good for PvP as it's too telegraphed that you are about to fire, plus damage is bad. The crossbows are a little better. You could hold one in the off hand with melee in the other. The pulley crossbow fires three bolts at once, which is good for bleed bolts or frost bolts. Throwing pots are probably still better because they do not take up a weapon slot and some have aoe. The jar cannon and hand ballistae are fun in invasions when people are far away although those require a strength build.
@ShameeDSG Any bow depending on your needs. I use the red branch bow because it is the lightest, and I only need it to proc my status effect. Keep in mind, you can't just spam arrows in pvp. You have to punish your oponent. Using arrows with proc like sleep, bleed, heavy poison, or rot is a must. Make sure you have another solid weapon to use after you proc your status effect, or to switch it up on your opponent. The setup you use is up to you, but make sure to keep yourself on light load so you can light roll.
Light bows are nice for support, equip proccing arrows, proc and switch to melee. E.g. for the Godskin duo, use the bow with sleep arrows, proc one to sleep and kill the other.
I actually used a light bow for a long time in my first playthrough. Its nice having a longer range option.
It certainly doesn't hurt to have a ranged option.
For a traveling bard role play, the harp bow is essential.
That's a great point. Roleplay wise, if you want to be a bard, its a prefect fit.
Finally. Thank you for uploading this.
You are welcome. I am glad you enjoyed it.

I wish bows were more useful in general. I have yet to come up with a convincing archer build for general combat.
What bow do you think is best for pvp? Or should I stick to just using a throwable like throwing knives and blood pots?

You need to make a good archer build for late game. I want to be able to roleplay as an archer, but i havent come up with a good build yet.
Sounds like a challenge. I will have to work on that.
There isn't one, unfortunately. Bow just don't get better.
You should explain why theyre ranked the way they are
Thank you for this video. These guides are much appreciated.

Thank You, Very Much.
On repeat
Thank You, Very Much.
Black bow acts as a light bow with long bow range. All other bows are vastly inferior.

Thank You, Very Much.
he showed the stats the best bow was the misbegotten for pure damage.
Misbegotten is great for damage, but suffers with range.
