This is one of my favourite skincare brands! Crazy how it didn’t work for you as we have similar skin types. Their pro retinol really made a huge difference in my skin and was my introduction to retinols, the cream cleanser was ok, enjoyed the amilc whip moisturiser too!
I'm back! Thanks for trying this line and passing along all the information. Also for the reminder to not over exfoliate and watch the ingredients in all products. Both me and my daughter need to be careful as for different reasons we cannot use (or use much, we’re learning) AHA/BHA/Acids. Thank you! 💕
Yuuup, I suspect it’s tricky to figure out what percentages/actives will work as everyone’s skin is different. Some people love the TO peeling solution, for example - oof that’s too much for me!! Alas, skincare is a journey of finding the right products for each one of us, individually!💕
I learned about FaceTheory from Mad About Skin. All I have tried from the brand are the Green Tea and Pink Clay Face Masks and I absolutely love them. I'd be open to trying more FaceTheory products in the future!!
I think it’s easy to want to fit everything in - I’ve had great success with face theory as I chose one serum(polypep collagen one), clarifying cleanser for evening, face wash for morning and the aventhra moisturiser for night time, amil C whip moisturiser for morning, the anti redness toner, eye cream and the sunscreen. I stuck with that for a few months then added in the face scrub but I only use it once a week. I don’t use other products at all now and I used to be a serial skincare adder - always trying this and that and always ending up with stressed out skin.
I was specifically looking into that toner because my skin is prone to redness (probably some undiagnosed mild rosacea in there), so i'm glad that you likedi it! I think after I'm done with my current batch of products I might order a whole routine from facetheory to try them out.
N10 is my favorite from facetheory. I've finished 3 bottles already and still continue to use it as my "one and done" / "lazy day" serum. It works so well to keep my oily, acne-prone skin clear. I've tried 3 of their moisturizers (M1, M3, and M5) and none of them worked for me. They all pill under my makeup even when I used a very small amount.
The smell of their AZ serum is colloidal oats so it doesn’t bother me none. If you ever tried Aveeno eczema products? it smells like that but I really love the formulation and application over TO. It’s my holy grail!! It doesn’t sting even though I use it on damp skin .
I went on a Face Theory shopping spree, as they have a 50% for new users. I think the exaglow is perfect but then it’s hard to find a moisturizer or cleansers that don’t have more of the same products. So in the end of the routine I have applied vitamin c and niacinamide to my face 3 or 4 times and it can easily build up to irritation if you’re also using other acids or retinoids
I've only tried one product from them lol. But it became my HG moisturizer very quickly (the Supergel moisturizer). But you're right, you have to be careful of over exfoliating! That Supergel has both AHAs and salicylic acid, but it's also let me condense my routine into a few steps. And I love the aluminum tube.
I am using these two products on my dark spots. Yes, read ingredients before you purchase. She is using so much as she uses Facetheory products for am and real retinol for pm. She should know that too much for her skin. For me, I only use active on pm routine.
I've recently discovered this brand and researched their products religious ly before deciding which ones to buy. There is no way that I would all of them to my routine, as I use Medik8 Retynaldehide 10. I am loving the Amil C moisturiser for the morning, as it also has spf 30, though I still use anther spf 50 on top, and the and the rellaxing night cream in the evening with Vitamin E and peptides. I have just ordered the cream cleanser. For the customer who doesn't know what can and can't be used in the same routine all the actives together could be an issue. I live in the UK and work for the NHS, so use my Keyworker discount 20% off, and also 15% off on subscribe and save, dispatched every 3 months. So far very happy.
i love facetheory! although, i don’t plan to do a full facetheory skincare routine. resvera-f serum, regena-calm pro, exaglow, bakuluronic moisturiser, regena-c moisturiser, amil-c whip, cera-c toner.. i have dry dermatitis prone skin and these actives never posed issue for me, maybe because the rest of my routine is basic. illiyoon cleanser, facetheory serum, face theory moisturizer, rosehip oil (night time) numbuzin 3 sunscreen (morning). facetheory minimised my routine so much, plus highly efficacious. just be careful going ham on a new routine without slowly incorporating each. just 1-2 max 3 actives check your skin’s resiliency and issues to be dealt with/maintenance.
It’s funny how skincare is SOOO personal! I’ve been LOVING this brand!!! 😆 some stuff just really doesn’t work for others! LOVE your vids btw! Keep em coming. These brand reviews are dope as well sorry you have to sacrifice your skin lol
If you order from the UK site and not the international they will ship you the 15% azelaic acid serum. I live in Canada and I had no issues getting the 15% serum. It’s so strong. I’m still getting used to it. But I love that it has lots of oat kernel in it. Definitely worth a try if azelaic interests you!
I like the Relaxing Night Cream because it’s the least active of their moisturizers, but both the Clarifying Cleanser and the Vitamin C cleanser were too strong for me.
My 53 year old skin likes an occasional wash with the clarifying cleanser. It is too drying for me for every day use but wow!..it is the only product that takes care of the texture on my cheeks under my eyes. A lot of people swear by their azeleic serum too. That one is on my list.
I have been using the Regenecalm Pro Retinol serum for awhile. It is my go to retinol serum. I just purchased the anti-aging set & got the relaxaing night cream for half price as a bonus. So far, I am loving both vitamin c creams that I got and the vitamin C cleanser. I have dry aging skin (sigh), so the products work well for me. I am also a sucker for rewards points 😎.
Face Theory routine gave me the best skin of my life. I alternate products based on the weekday, so I'll have VitC+ferulic days and I'll have lactic acid days, and I'll have peptide overload nights and I'll have retinol nights. I love The Ordinary too but it wasn't complete without certain key products from Face Theory.
That’s my plan for the moisturizer! Will probably mix it with body oil so it applies nicely-I actually think that will be nice (but too pricey to make a routine of haha)
Thank you for continuing to be such a thoughtful reviewer! I look forward to the Haru Haru review. Intriguing brand. I hope the snail mucin and liquid gold heal your skin!
Been using this brand fue about a year though not exclusively. Tried both their cream cleansers (clarifying and vitamin c). Didn't like due to usability (don't like the glass jars and scooping the product to apply on face) and their clarifying cleanser is quite serious. Mind you I use the latter to double cleanse. This was the first time trying an exfoliating cleanser because I wanted to see if I can handle glycolic acid in a cleanser form as I can't handle it in other forms. I tried their toners which was fine but lasted quickly. I also tried their serums, N10 and currently using the exaglow. I am gonna continue use the exaglow as I think the n10 did nothing for me. I also use the gel moisturizer which I believe they changed the formula to tackle acne issue. I think it's more suited for the summer as I'm currently using it and am getting flaking around my mouth. (Combo skin and acne prone is me btw) Mind you they don't have a cleanser with a fragrance free option (i think it's called refreshing cleanser, it has a bergamot scent). What I like is the ocuwake eye cream and face masks. The eye cream because it is a good value as well as the masks because even though they look small they do have quite some product (for reference I only use the masks on the weekends). The masks (pink aha clay mask and green tea mask to be kind of exact) didnt bother me. Thanks for the review.
I tried lot of these but they didn’t do much. The exaglow was the only thing I liked, the vitamin c serums were too oily, and the Porebright was good. I didn’t notice much difference, so I never repurchased
I’d say to incorporate them individually and monitor your skin. I think the products may work nicely individually, but I’d certainly be cautious about using too much FT at once!
Listen..I use to get TCS chemical peel from someone in California that worked in a lab that made the TCA for the celeb Doctors. I loved that peel!! It was cheap and effective. My skin peeled like freaking rice paper. I had baby skin under it all, and I was so happy with results. She no longer sold for whatever reason so I was researching many many products. I was a guinea pig of sorts. I tried. Many others rhen I came to Theory skin care. Honestly the 40% I got wasn't very effective. I recently got 70% and MAN!!!! It EXACTLY like the one inuse to gwt. You have to be very careful and well versed in doing peels for it to do what you want it to do! I am completely content with this brand compared to the rest. Seriously. Take it from someone cover in freckles and now I have NONE.
I question their cosmetic formulator's train of thought when I see some of their formulas so I have never tried them. I do think that they are a good way to access azelaic acid for people who can't easily get prescription AzA or find PC AzA booster too expensive.
Very good point! In thr AzA reviews, some say it’s more cosmetically elegant than TO’s (easy to believe as I don’t like the texture of TO’s either!) But yeah. Definitely some strange combos 🤔
@@AliceintheRabbitHole I had such a struggle with their 10% azelaic acid. Anytime I used it, every product I used after stung like crazy. No matter if I waited 10 min or 1 hour, they stung when applied. It seemed odd because the azelaic acid itself didn’t sting but all of my calming, soothing products burned/stung. My skin was in stellar shape before using it so it had to be their product.
Love facetheory. The vit c cream cleaner is great. Also currently on pot 2 of amil c whip spf30 moisturiser. Moving onto different brands but feel i might go back to amil c whip
Hi late comment but just wanted to say I read that Lactic acid isn’t always used as an exfoliant in products, at a high pH it can be added as a humectant as it’s naturally quite moisturising or it can be a pH adjuster which is why face theory probably has it in a lot of their products
This is true. Many other brands opt for less natural pH adjusters but I notice Face Theory uses a pretty simple roster of basic ingredients and just combines them in different ways to create products that serve different needs.
I’m currently trying their 15% Azelaic serum as an upgrade to The Ordinary and while I like it..I think when I finish it I’m actually going back to TO! I don’t dislike the product but I think my skin just loves my first AA product more. I love their packaging much more though, with the glass and easy to use pump.
Your face in the thumbnail was so hilarious it made me have to watch the video right away, I want to try thí brand so much but it was really hard to buy them in my country
🤣 Oh no, really!? Ah, I’m so guilty of failing to understand what’s easily available internationally 😭 although that said - you’re probably not missing TOO much imo!
Thank you for this wonderful review Alice ,I have a question, did you use their cream cleanser as a first or second cleanser? Also again thank you as I was torn between purchasing the Lumizela or their porebright serum as both have azelaic but probably will go with the first one since I live in the EU so the percentage of the azelaic is higher. I also want to try their resveratrol serum as the ingredients look fantastic.
I wanted to try these products especially the cleanser but then I checked the ingredients... uhm, I don't know, I have too much skincare and only one face! So, Face Theory VS Geek & Gorgeous... who's winning so far? :)
It’s honestly not even close lol. 😆 But I do better with products with a bit more focus vs “everything but the kitchen sink”, so I’m sure that’s a factor!
Don’t understand this product line. Had to trash the Amil-C Whip. It separated and was too nasty to put on my skin. I got through the Glucomide Body Cream, but was never so happy to empty a jar. Think I will regift the Azeclear A10 Serum. Just too nervous. It happens! ❤️❤️
I’m definitely noting to avoid that product! That’s concerning as it’s a sunscreen, right? I probably won’t order through them again, but I will say I see potential in the exaglow in particular. And perhaps that AzA (which I’d say to try, but perhaps cautiously lol!)
@@AliceintheRabbitHole They have an Amil-C Whip SPF 20, but I tried the non-SPF version. Have heard positive things about the Azeclear but I’m just not up for the challenge!
Tricky brand! I love from them the Lumizela serum, the Clarifying Cleanser Pro (every other day), and the Chirosmooth Rice Ferment Hand Cream.. But I really dislike the Supergel moisturiser (mostly due to its grainy texture) and the Jojoba Cleaning Oil, which I don't know why was so irritating to my skin.
I found the Vit C cleanser a bit meh. From memory the lactic acid % is low in a lot of the products therefore for hydration purposes. I like the Cera C toner for more gentle 5% niacinamide, enjoy the Exaglow & would like to try Lumizela. Agree with you about the way they advertise ingredients though.
Indeed, the lactic acid could be used for different purposes, although I was surprised to see it is listed as an active/exfoliant under the toner. Strange given the pH 🤔 Just a few things that confuse me about the brand, but yep - exaglow seems like a unique product to the market!
LOL so I consider myself an advanced skincare user. I’m in my 40s and use Tretinon. I recently purchased some Facetheory products to try out and had a very similar experience. Total over exfoliation. Redness, burning, peeling, it was BAD. I eased back for a few weeks until my barrier was healed up and then reintroduced sloooowly. Just one serum at a time. MUCH better result. Seriously, WHY do they put so many acids in their serums? It’s kinda annoying. 😂
That is a silicone free moisturizer and that's not the technique to use a silicone free moisturizer. U need to warm up a small amount on ur finger tips, by rubbing it together, it will start to melt and then u apply it. Infact ur using too much. Also, just cause vitamin c is low on the list doesn't make it ineffective. Low percentages are safer on ur skin, and yes the way to go is to use low percentage ingredients over a long period of time , this ensures 0 irritation or side effects. Thanks to The ordinary, ppl now believe that everything shud be over 10%, which is far from the truth. Many ingredients like vitamin c and niacinamide are effective at a very low 2%.
Thanks for sharing - I’ll give that a try! I agree fully that people often believe more is better; however, it’s important to consider the percentage required in terms of goals. Take vitamin c: antioxidant activity does show at 2%, but the impact on hyperpigmentation requires higher percentages. It’s also super important to consider the form: L-AA and the derivatives do need to be studied as individual compounds vs extrapolating the data from L-AA and applying it to the derivatives.
It depends on each active, and not all ingredients are pH-dependent either. In general, as customers, this is something we shouldn’t have to worry about. *however*, sometimes we do see products that advertise a pH dependent active and a gentle formula, and lo and behold, they kept the pH too low for the product to work efficiently (hence…why…it’s gentle LOL!) But yeah it’s not typically a concern, or at least it shouldn’t be!
Hi gorgeous thank you so much for this amazing video. I personally have some experience with this brand, I lived in the UK and discovered them years ago. Actually, their niacinamide 10% back then was one of the very first skincare products I tried that worked on my acne, they introduced me to actives. So since then I tried out a lot and I could soooo recommend their make up remover milk, when you rub it in dry on make up, then wet a cotton pad you can swipe off everything in one go, it‘s fasciting but it just wont wash off with water, you really have to swipe it off. I use it as a first cleanser, also comes in a pump packaging. The toner you got is nice, the niacinamide one has a very unpleasant scent. Other things I love are their mandelic acid, bha 2% for spot treatment, their hand cream and their towel and sustainable cotton pads! Their moisturisers all failed me lol dont like their texture and the gel one was drying. Anyway thank you for sharing your experience 😘 I got some of their make up, time to review it soon!
Thanks so much for sharing! That does sound interesting. Your description reminds me of the drunk elephant micellar water (with the caveat that the DE isn’t the best at makeup removal lol…kind of a big caveat! 😆)
I only have 1 thing from this brand the N10 serum ,I havent used it enough to weigh in on my thoughts about it. I have been so into everything K beauty I kinda forgot about it. Awh that sucks over exfoliating been their done that more then once..lol
See I feel ya!! It’s a lot harder to have this overexfoliation situation happen with K-Beauty. Needless to say, I’m nurturing my skin right now with Korean products (omg I love the Dr. Ceuracle essence what on EARTH took me so long to try it 😆)
They have so many products(to many Paula's choice🤭lol) from what I've tried it's split, I either love or hate them. Like the Amil C whip I thought it would be so good but I hate it and it stings my skin sometimes also it keeps separating even tho I'm keeping it in the fridge🤔.
@@threatlevelmidnight3588 I use it and the regena-c on my chest and neck. I think they both have good potential but the texture and smell is to much. Think I've seen you on Mad About Skin channel as well, you have good taste💁🏼♀️🙂

Oh interesting, I’ve seen so many people say the opposite! Goes to show how unique our experiences with skincare truly are!
@@AliceintheRabbitHole I love the lumizela 10. I ordered the 15.
Your face in the thumbnail was so hilarious it made me have to watch the video right away, I want to try thí brand so much but it was really hard to buy them in my country
🤣
Oh no, really!? Ah, I’m so guilty of failing to understand what’s easily available internationally 😭 although that said - you’re probably not missing TOO much imo!
@@AliceintheRabbitHole 😂😝
Thank you for this wonderful review Alice ,I have a question, did you use their cream cleanser as a first or second cleanser? Also again thank you as I was torn between purchasing the Lumizela or their porebright serum as both have azelaic but probably will go with the first one since I live in the EU so the percentage of the azelaic is higher. I also want to try their resveratrol serum as the ingredients look fantastic.
Happy to help! I used it as a second cleanser, but I preferred it as a morning all-in-one cleanser
@AliceInTheRabbitHole was the Face Theory Colloidal C Toner sticky or tacky after applying?
I wanted to try these products especially the cleanser but then I checked the ingredients... uhm, I don't know, I have too much skincare and only one face! So, Face Theory VS Geek & Gorgeous... who's winning so far? :)
It’s honestly not even close lol. 😆
But I do better with products with a bit more focus vs “everything but the kitchen sink”, so I’m sure that’s a factor!
Thanks for the review. Honestly, the only products I’m interested in are their washcloths.
Those do look very cute! I love that they have other eco friendly options ☺️
Their washcloths are the best!
Thank you. Much more thorough . . .
Don’t understand this product line. Had to trash the Amil-C Whip. It separated and was too nasty to put on my skin. I got through the Glucomide Body Cream, but was never so happy to empty a jar. Think I will regift the Azeclear A10 Serum. Just too nervous.
It happens! ❤️❤️
A lot of people rave about the azeclear. Try it and let us know :)
Was going to buy the n10 serum but I'll just buy the 3 actives from the ordinary and layer
Oh wow, yeah I wouldn’t expect a cleansing oil to be a source of issues? Alas - I very much believe you given my experience!
Thank You. I love your channel
Can you try some of medik8 products? Such as the daily refreshing balancing toner
I’d really like to at some point! Verso went very well for me (same retinol retinoate ingredient), so I do suspect I would like medik8 as well
It seems like they put Vitamin C in a lot of their products.
Strange given the pH 🤔
Just a few things that confuse me about the brand, but yep - exaglow seems like a unique product to the market!
I use Azelaic Acid 20% cream every other night (prescribed) and it has helped tremendously.
*with long-term use*
Thankyou for this Review
I love this brand. My skin loves it.
Thanks for sharing 🥰
LOL so I consider myself an advanced skincare user. I’m in my 40s and use Tretinon. I recently purchased some Facetheory products to try out and had a very similar experience. Total over exfoliation. Redness, burning, peeling, it was BAD. I eased back for a few weeks until my barrier was healed up and then reintroduced sloooowly. Just one serum at a time. MUCH better result.
Seriously, WHY do they put so many acids in their serums? It’s kinda annoying. 😂
Hi! Which ones did you try?? I just ordered their azelaic acid serum and the exaglow serum… Still not sure how I am going to incorporate them!
Yay for K-beauty! I hope you’re face recovers quickly. Hate it when that happens. Have a nice week off. 🙃
Thank you! Yeah it certainly is frustrating - and yet an inevitability at SOME point for skincare enthusiasts lol!!
I hope your skin heals quickly. That last cream dies seem odd. Have a great week ❌⭕
Thank you! Hope you’re doing well also! 🥰
What is good PH’s for actives? Is there a range for all people as I know everyone’s skin is different?
It depends on each active, and not all ingredients are pH-dependent either. In general, as customers, this is something we shouldn’t have to worry about. *however*, sometimes we do see products that advertise a pH dependent active and a gentle formula, and lo and behold, they kept the pH too low for the product to work efficiently (hence…why…it’s gentle LOL!)
But yeah it’s not typically a concern, or at least it shouldn’t be!
Tesoro❤️ pon El subtitolo en espanol por favor me encanta tu Canal però no entiendo nada 😔
Ceuracle essence what on EARTH took me so long to try it 😆)
@@AliceintheRabbitHole girl I new u would..its amazing its HG status up their with the cosrx snail
They have so many products(to many Paula's choice🤭lol) from what I've tried it's split, I either love or hate them. Like the Amil C whip I thought it would be so good but I hate it and it stings my skin sometimes also it keeps separating even tho I'm keeping it in the fridge🤔.
Oh interesting, just looked that one up and it’s not on the US site. Perhaps because of the UV filters in it?
I had to finish the amil c whip on my feet. I really thought I'd love that product but meh.
@@AliceintheRabbitHole that's weird the regular kind should be on there, not sure about the spf one tho
@@threatlevelmidnight3588 I use it and the regena-c on my chest and neck. I think they both have good potential but the texture and smell is to much. Think I've seen you on Mad About Skin channel as well, you have good taste💁🏼♀️🙂
Likewise, the Amil-C Whip SPF 20 looks like I've done a bad paint job on my face, and then it just crumbles off.
I've tried the FT Azeclear Serum upon recommendation from Rob at Mad About Skin. I used it only a handful of times, so I can't give it an honest review yet. It has a slightly funky odor to me, like yeast.
Can you update me on how it compares to other AZA options? I probably won’t make another order from the brand, but I’m still curious LOL!
@@AliceintheRabbitHoleI never tried any others before. I may try The Ordinary.
The exaglow serum is now $44.. ridiculous!!
How much did it cost previously?
I wouldn't think 2 weeks is long enough to judge a skin care brand.
It isn't
❤️
Hi...❌⭕
This product was terrible made my wrinkles much worse.
