    This is kacee's first time watching reaction to the movie "Role Models" (2008). After salesmen Danny (Paul Rudd) and Wheeler (Seann William Scott) trash a company truck, the court gives them a choice: jail time or community service in a mentoring program. Thinking to take the easy way out, the two overgrown adolescents find themselves paired with a teenager (Christopher Mintz-Plasse), who is experiencing the pangs of first love, and a foul-mouthed fifth-grader (Bobb'e J. Thompson), who needs an attitude adjustment.

      @@Dylan_Platt That's because it's a giraffe, dear. Everytime someone misidentifies an animal, a zookeeper drops a koala. I read it on the interwebz!
      Come onnn, lighten up. Surely there's a point at which you think "was that really necessary?" The works of apatow for example, or napoleon dynamite, jackass, or freddy got fingered. Same level of humour. If a four year old says it, you grin politely to entertain the child, but if anyone over the age of ten acts like that, you start taking note of exits and whether or not the windowlicker has a minder that should be keeping said windowlicker, away from sharp objects like my personality.

    • @Dylan_Platt
      @Dylan_Platt 10 месяцев назад

      @@InservioLetum well, you've certainly convinced me... that you don't know what the fuck you're talking about. Anybody who says that Freddy Got Fingered and Napoleon Dynamite (and this movie, for that matter) share ANYTHING other than the broad designation of "comedy" is either a dipshit or a liar.
      I'm guessing by your derogatory use of "Yank" that you're British? Gosh, it's a good thing there aren't any examples of British comedy that are both scatological and immature in the way you're clumsily trying to gesture at, AND simultaneously held up as some of the greatest comedy of all time...
      Oh wait, Monty Python.

    1. There's an incredible gag that's easy to miss. The song Martin sings, "Love Take Me Down (to the Streets)", he claims is a Wings song. If you're unfamiliar, Wings was a group that Paul McCartney had for a time. Paul Rudd says it's not a real song. Later, at camp, another guy joins in on it, making it seem like a real song. During the credits, you hear the full studio version of the song. It sounds just like McCartney and just like other Wings songs. Like many at the time, I just assumed it was one of their lesser known songs.
    They made it as part of the joke. It's a fully produced song, written by Martin's actor with music by the film's composer. The singer is from a long-running Beatles tribute band. All for an easy to miss gag.
    2. I larped for several years in the late 90s and early 2000s. It was an utter blast. The one I played is no more, but I'm certain you could find one. A quick web search turned up a couple around Austin and a few more around DFW or Houston.
    I have friends to this day from that time and some wonderful memories.

      One thing I realized recently about this one is this is one of Rudd's few roles where for a good chunk of the movie he's a really cranky annoyed guy. Obviously his go-to is more casual goofball, and sometimes he does melancholy, but I don't know a lot where he's actively unpleasant to be around.

    I got into a hobby, again. Kind of. Use to tech deck all the time. Last year or two I started Fingerboarding and it's my favorite. Been making obstacles and other shit. It's so relaxing, just listen to music while doing it, escape the real world a minute. It's also extremely rewarding when you land something you've been practicing, just like in Skateboarding.

    Speaking of lowkey forgotten raunchy adjacent stuff from the time, Grandma's Boy gets overlooked a lot, and I'd say its probably one of the first non-absurd (outside of y'know, specific people in the movie) depictions of a video game company

    I remember going to a workplace BBQ that had a great amount of employees, one of those employees brought a bunch of foam weapons he made for larping, and a bunch of us semi-nerdy people all decided to try larping on our own with him and it was so freaking amazing. My favorite was being a two-handed swordsman fighting against my friend as a dual-wielding short sword fighter. He beat me of course as trying to swing that thing around against two swords was not as easy as I hoped it would be. It was still a really fun experience.

    If you like this you should check out Knights of Badassdom. It’s an overlooked “nerd culture” movie that kind of shot itself in the foot with its release. It was filmed before A Game of Thrones started and had Peter Dinklage in it. When he became popular they cancelled its release date to do some re-editing to make his character more prominent and the delay kind of hurt it. Nonetheless it’s a fun movie about a group of larpers that accidentally summon a succubus.

    The most underrated joke in this. Is that this is the judge's favorite organization. Also, how many times I have quoted, "If you're white, then you're Ben Affleck." It's unhealthy lol

    • @uosdwiSrdewoH
      @uosdwiSrdewoH 11 месяцев назад

      What exactly do you think the joke is? It's a fairly ordinary line of dialogue that indicates when the judge has to issue a sentence of community service this is the place they send people because they think it's worthwhile to help these kids.

    35:57 not in the Texas LARP scene... but one I do called Dystopia Rising is a LARP with communities all across the country. 99% sure there's one in Texas. The one I go to has an average of 200 people attending at a time and we spend three whole days in character the entire time it's supposed to apocalyptic based LARP. 11/10 would recommend. We get deep into character. If you thought these guys were intense, just wait till you go to your first DR game 😂

      @@nsasupporter7557 Why do you care if people believe something is underrated? I've seen you say this on multiple comments, and you telling people to stop isn't going to accomplish anything. Seems like a strange issue to have

      @@NickPotatoes let me ask you something… why are people so in infatuated with the word “underrated??” That’s what’s actually strange. People call the most popular things “underrated,” so they use it inaccurately. So can you explain why the word “underrated” is used every 2 seconds??

    • @NickPotatoes

      @@nsasupporter7557 idk man, I rarely use that word honestly. If I had to guess tho, they may not have seen a lot of people talk about something that they think is great, thus giving them the perception that it is "underrated". Beyond that tho, idk, people are strange lol

      @@NickPotatoes you still haven’t answered my question, why are you so infatuated with the word “underrated” and using it inaccurately so much? You and so many other people on RUclips.
