my beginner mistakes were mostly using the wrong soil, I used African Violet mix as it was all that was available to me at the time and the internet advised that as a secondary suitable soil to actual cactus soil. Sadly I lost 2 beautiful echeverias and ruined 2 flats of pearls that were propagating fine until I gave them a couple mists of water. I did as your videos instructed and waited a week to water after repotting but it only took 2 days for the whole stem to sog and rot. I thought adding perlite would better the soils use but the peat moss in the AV mix was too powerful. Should have just waited to find cactus mix soil, which I have now thanks to my husband.
Hello Sim玫, thank you for sharing your experience. I have done this process several times and it worked everytime. There are factors to consider though. Soil must be totally dry when you pot within a week. The leaves you choose to propagate must be in good health, must be clean cut, air dried for around 3 days and things like that. I would say overwatering is the most common problem. But what about a sudden leaf drop with the leaves still looking healthy? I have bought some Aeoniums over the internet from specialist succulent growers and within a couple of days this sudden leaf dropping of healthy leaves is happening.
@@succulentsforbeginners That is exactly what is happening, the leaves are healthy when dropping so my guess is either stress in transportation or sudden change in temperature . Aeonium Mardi Gras and Aeonium Black Magic were the worst affected which are both very similar in colouring.

My echeveria succulent's leaves started to wrinkle. Now, they are shriveling and turning very small into almost nothing. I can't tell if it is because I'm over or under watering it? I water it every 1.5 - 2 weeks. It isn't just the bottom leaves, but the bottom half of the plant and it's spreading. Please help?

Hii succulent parents,, she didn't tell that why leaves r a bit softer? not yellowing not falling not rotting but soft. they tend to feel crunchy but they r soft. WHY so?? Pls help
My crassula ovata green leaves has started pointing downwards after I got it from the nursery yesterday. Didn't water the plant and didn't put it outside under the sun. Its near the sunny window inside the room.
Hi rashi, thanks for watching! They need more sun. But before giving them more sun, it should be acclimated. Check this video so you know what I mean: ruclips.net/video/FHh5ZZuI--I/видео.html
Over watering seems to be the most common issue out here with succulents as we subconsciously believe that we’d be depriving the plant of water if it ain’t frequent!
@@succulentsforbeginners i have succulents that has powdery bluish coat on its leaves surface and when i started exposing it to the sun those powdery wax coating slowly disappearing.... Those kind of succulents must not be exposed to too much sunlight must be shaded or filtered?

I m living in a tropical country where it is more humid, the soil I m using is for specially mixed for secculents and cactus. Do I need to add in perlite or pumice stone? Thank you
Hi Hooi Hoon Khoo, thanks for watching. It's not really needed. You may just adjust you watering in terms of interval and volume. Water only when its totally dry - this could take from 1week upto 6weeks
you should try changing the soil, put some sand and rocks in the mix so the roots wont get soggy after watering. succulents are desert plants so they are used to this type of soil and being watered from rain very few times
@@killermitchu me too. I just watered my succulent after a week. Soil was completely dry this morning but the plant looked healthy. I watered it and went back in. Came back after a few hours and all the leaves had come loose and we're laying face down on the soil.
if u leave yr plants outside, even under partial shade, maybe rain got them wet? I keep mine outside, shaded away from direct rain but when it rains heavily with strong winds,I noticed them getting yellow
Plant succelents in porous pots. Sometimes if its plastic the water tends to evaporoute and condense, then stay in the pot that way. I recomend clay pots.
Hie, my succulent get over watered . Now I haven't give any water a week but still dying 😫. Only stem has lift even the new grow ones has also died . What should I do
See if there are healthy parts left, if there is cut away all the rotten part and air dry for 5 days. If you think it wont survive and you see there are healthy leaves, then propagate the leaves. If all are yellow, it sad to say but eventually it will die. Try watching this video: ruclips.net/video/ZiyW8fraR3w/видео.html

Hi Yumi, if they are squishy and you water them everyday - its overwatered... After being squishy they turn wrinkly - this is still overwatered. Hope this helps
I am trying to grow succulents and not successful so far. not sure whether it is due to overwatering, underwatering or heat. here in middle east summer time temperature is very high. let me follow the video and see whether I can come out successful in growing
Hi Shilpa Ahuja, thanks for watching! Yes in the middle east have intense heat, might be a good idea to put a roofing to decrease partially the intense direct sunlight. Or have them indoor and put them under grow light.
My cuttings don't have roots are in DRY soil yet the bottom leaves are turning yellow and translucent. i am waiting until they have roots to water them. I've never watered them. Its been a week and a half. Why is That happening???
According to the video above, if the leave become wrinkle, means not enough water. But even after I watered it, the leaves still wrinkle. Is it because of any other problem? Thank you
Hi Hooi Hoon Khoo, thank you for the comment. Provided the leaves was healthy and it wrinkled - this means it is underwatered. Watering it once or twice will not fix this. But watering it more frequent than your regular schedule will solve this in few days or weeks. I will make a video of this so its easy to understand this process. Thank you :) or there could be another problem, perhaps insects or fungus in the roots. Here's a video about insects in the roots: ruclips.net/video/wyhRnaDEtWI/видео.html

And even when im watering it i only spray water to it and doesn't even water that much to go through a drainage hole...i don't know what is wrong with it please help me 😔 nothing seems to work.. every plant i buy is dying after i bring it home from the shop
Hi Harini, thanks for watching! You can do this trick. Don't water the succulent until the leaves start to get thin, then you water. Another trick is to dip your finger in the dirt and check if it's still cold/wet then don't water, water only when the soil is totally dry. I hope this helps!

You can remove all parts that are rotten. Must not leave any trace of rot. Air dry the remaing leaves / trunk with leaves for about a week to make sure it is totally dry. Your echeveria is pointing down maybe because of laxk of sun exposure. You may increase sun exposure slowly thru acclimation. I have a video about acclimation and how to do it. please search it in my channel
My new achoverie etna growing under grow light but thier big heathy leaves keep getting dry Turning skinny yellow . Top leaves is hard. I don't know why :(
It could be a fungal infection. You may remove the entire infected leaves. Even if it's just a small black spot, it is best to remove the entire infected leaves, uproot and wash the plant and repot. It's better mix any type of charcoal to avoid fungus. Please watch this video about that: ruclips.net/video/jSlH83A86ko/видео.html
Definitely over watered plants! I've unfortunately killed quite a few this way. I do have a problem with one of my succulents though, that I'm struggling to find an answer for. On one of my succulents, it was really healthy and looked great when I first bought it. I eventually re-potted it in succulent and cacti soil. It was doing well at first, but I have now noticed all of the leaves are pointing downwards, they're not wrinkled or discoloured, just really pointing downwards. It's changed the overall shape of the plant and...well, it just doesn't look great? If anyone could give me some advice, that's be great..?! :)
@@succulentsforbeginners Thanks for replying... sadly the plant died.. when I took it out for inspection, it was rotting from bottom... tried propagating it but to no avail..it kept on rotting..and finally died.
Yes, it can recover if the situation improves. To avoid sunburn, acclimation must be done. Here's a video about acclimation: ruclips.net/video/FHh5ZZuI--I/видео.html
What you can do for mild cases is to uproot them and airdry for 1 week or so until they are totally dry and sign of overwatering is gone, then replant. For advance cases, just cut the healthy part and propagate it. If all are mushy, it might have a little or no chance to survive
Are they yellow and dropping on the ground? Do they have rot? If yes, they are overwatered. Underwatered on the other hand will shrink but no rot and no falling leaves. And if you water them more frequently, the leaves will thicken back
@@succulentsforbeginners thank you. Yes they are yellow wrinkled and thin. The leaves left on the stem feels soft on touch. I will give it time to dry. I hope he will get better.

Please help?
there's a big chance they are overwatered. But try to watch this video first, it might help you sort things out: ruclips.net/video/ZiyW8fraR3w/видео.html
Hii succulent parents,, she didn't tell that why leaves r a bit softer? not yellowing not falling not rotting but soft. they tend to feel crunchy but they r soft. WHY so?? Pls help
If its soft and wrinkly it is thirsty, might need some watering
My crassula ovata green leaves has started pointing downwards after I got it from the nursery yesterday. Didn't water the plant and didn't put it outside under the sun. Its near the sunny window inside the room.
Hi rashi, thanks for watching! They need more sun. But before giving them more sun, it should be acclimated. Check this video so you know what I mean: ruclips.net/video/FHh5ZZuI--I/видео.html
for more sunlight I have to keep the plant outside and outside its too hot and humid though its shady area. My previous crassula plant died like this.
Hi Rashi, please watch this video, this may help you: ruclips.net/video/dtYLAhrBflw/видео.html
Over watering seems to be the most common issue out here with succulents as we subconsciously believe that we’d be depriving the plant of water if it ain’t frequent!
So is blochy leaves from sun stress normal
Hi Shapeshiftermua, blotchy leaves is a transition from sun stress to normal or vice versa, so it's normal :)
@@succulentsforbeginners i have succulents that has powdery bluish coat on its leaves surface and when i started exposing it to the sun those powdery wax coating slowly disappearing.... Those kind of succulents must not be exposed to too much sunlight must be shaded or filtered?
Thank you for this
My pleasure!
My succulent is seemingly healthy and I can't apply any diagnosis as u have told in your video, but still the leaves are dropping from down ! Is it normal ? Also the baby peeping out from the side has grown a small black tip on it....really confused and worried..pls help
you mean droopy? or the leaves are actually falling down the ground?
If its droopy, the leaves are bending down, then this video is for you: ruclips.net/video/dtYLAhrBflw/видео.html
If manyleaves are falling down the ground then its probably overwatered.
The leaves on my succulent turns yellow ish and eventually dries out. What does it mean ? Please help me. Thank you
It could be due to over watering if it is squishy when it's still yellowish
Ours has dark red or brownish edges. The bottom leaves are falling off one by one and it turns yellow first, it also gets a bit wrinkly, please help me save cacti. Could cacti have more than one issue?
Hi Amber, yes they can. They can start with one issue and lead to another issue
Hi, does anyone know the name of the succulent species used in the video?
I have this same one but can’t find the name of it anywhere?
The tips of my black prince are turning brown and dry, I just started using growlights with 9 inches distance, does it mean it’s sunburned or just underwatered? It’s really hot right now.
if it does not look like a dead dry leaves, it might not be sunburn. It could be just sun stress
Can I put my succulent cutting only in sand?
I m living in a tropical country where it is more humid, the soil I m using is for specially mixed for secculents and cactus. Do I need to add in perlite or pumice stone? Thank you
Hi Hooi Hoon Khoo, thanks for watching. It's not really needed. You may just adjust you watering in terms of interval and volume. Water only when its totally dry - this could take from 1week upto 6weeks
I have the same problem with 8,9 and 10 i don't know what to do and i don't even water my sacculents ;((((
you should try changing the soil, put some sand and rocks in the mix so the roots wont get soggy after watering. succulents are desert plants so they are used to this type of soil and being watered from rain very few times
@@succulentsforbeginners thnku for ur concern , I will definatly report u after a week . 😊
Can the curly jade be salvaged once the leaves started to turn yellow ?
It depends on how severe the problem is but if it just started, you might
Mine has underwatering problem will it survive
Hi mehar shaik thank you :) underwatering have more chance to survive
Great video
Hi esperanza Alcala thank you so much! :)
But.. i still feel worried because my succulents leaves are wrinkling and then dying and you say its normal but the leaves are dying like manyy.. and i have a cactus and it goes like shrinking and soft and wriggly when touched... it dosent look like over watering please reply before they die.. well mabey they are underwatered but really i water them everyday
Why is That happening???
have you air dried them? Air drying is very important to avoid rot
@@succulentsforbeginners what is air drying? I live in hot place in California the air is pretty dry here today our humidity is at 20%.
Your all video best
Thank you so much 😀
According to the video above, if the leave become wrinkle, means not enough water.
Thank you :)
or there could be another problem, perhaps insects or fungus in the roots. Here's a video about insects in the roots: ruclips.net/video/wyhRnaDEtWI/видео.html
@@succulentsforbeginners Thank you very much for your reply. Have a nice day.
I over water mines... help
its best to remove it from pot and air dry. If it really squishy, might be best to cut out the rotten part then air dry
Is it the same for propagation leaves??
yes, its the same
My echiveria loses 1 leaf every day from the bottom... The leaves turn white in the inner part and pale yellow on the outer part. Everyone is telling i have overwatered the plant but the thing is I don't even water it for a week or two ...
@@succulentsforbeginners thank you soo much I will try that and wait til the leaves get thin so i know for sure without over watering it ❤️❤️❤️
Please HELP: the leaves of my Black Prince have become soft, yet the soil is dry. Can anyone please advise what I should do? Thanks in advance. Mel from Australia
Is it wrinkly? If yes then they need water or there overwatered if your not sure check the roots
I had a healthy succulent that was fine just this morning untill I decided to water it after having check that the soil was completely dry. I came back a few hours later and to my shock, all the leaves were laying flat on the surface. No yellowing, no wrinkling, no nothing. They're heathy leaves just falling off. What went wrong?
what type of succulent you have?
@@succulentsforbeginners sedum palmeri. I have 2 in pots and both had the same issue this morning. I have other succulents in pots around them (aeoniumsi, echeverias, Jade) and none displayed any shedding of the leaves.
@@brokenbutterfly3178 if they were healthy a while ago, try to check the roots ofr insect infestation. we have a video how to fix that: ruclips.net/video/D582ODATUNk/видео.html
or you may want to check your pot if its good for succulents, please check this video: ruclips.net/video/41GJ2Sn1HjQ/видео.html
If all are ok, you might want to observe a little more what really might be the cause
@@succulentsforbeginners I watched both your videos which reminds me, i did use a pesticide to get rid of a bad scale infestation the other day. It did the trick but might have harmed the plants in the process? More of my succulents were in bad shape today. Some had sunburn, some dropping leaves, others with leaves shrivelling at the bottom. Perhaps I should quit on succulents and go back to roses😟
How about if the leaves are downward?
Thats ok, but if you wanr it upward then give them more sun

What about a mushy leaves? What is the problem? Thanks
Overwatered succulents
For some reason my succulents are almost always wrinkly! But I water them more often than 2 weeks because it's so dry where I live, but I'm scared of overwatering and killing them!
Those this work with haworthia too?
yes it does :)
My echeveria leaves pointing down, I havent overwatered them, they have a lot of sun, sandy soil... but still they are dying... Is there any way I can save them? Thank you.
Try checking the roots for insects or fungus. If it does, i have a video on how to fix it...
@@succulentsforbeginners thank you very much, I just checked, no insects found. Maybe the plant just adapting, i hope... :( i bought them 2 weeks ago and repotted that day...
Yes, they could be adopting. It must be acclimated everytime. Here's a short video about it : ruclips.net/video/FHh5ZZuI--I/видео.html
How ca i save my overwatered elegance sempervivum?
You can remove all parts that are rotten. Must not leave any trace of rot. Air dry the remaing leaves / trunk with leaves for about a week to make sure it is totally dry. Then start to root it or propagate it.
Here are 2 videos about propagation:

Can someone tell me why is my echeveria leaves pointing down!!! Im feeling sad that it might die!! Is there a fix to this problem? Is the second time that this happens with my echeverias my firat one died, probably I didnt give it a proper care? Help!!!!!
I don't know why :(
It could be a sign of growth if the plant is healthy. They shed the older leaves...
I need help , I habe black spot like mold under the leave 😩 that eventually killed my aloevera and another one. Pls help 🙏😢😭😔😫
The leaves on one of mine are turning translucent and soft ? What does that mean
It means it is overwatered :)
My succulent leaves are falling and getting yellow 😭😭and black what's the problem ?
overwatered 😟
Thanks for giving answer
My scullent is getting blotchy leaves pls help me
Blotchy leaves is a normal transition color. Provided that the plant is healthy, this is nothing to worry about. Thanks
My succulent drop the leaf can u please tell me the reason
My succulent's bottom leaves are turning yellow 😥😥I'm worried
Why is my succulents, they're leaves are dewy and stretchy? Overwater or under water?
If strechy they lack sun, so more sun exposure is needed
My plant has green leafs, it was ok in summer with sun... Now in winter low sun it started to go down and sleep
if the leaves are pointing down, the cause could be lack of sun. here's a video about that: ruclips.net/video/dtYLAhrBflw/видео.html
Small depression on leaves? What could be the reason?
Hi Mitali, thanks for watching! There are lots of factors, too much light or not well acclimated to light, insects, fungus, water and more :)
@@succulentsforbeginners Thanks for replying... sadly the plant died.. when I took it out for inspection, it was rotting from bottom... tried propagating it but to no avail..it kept on rotting..and finally died.

some survive, some don't. I think its worth to try saving them...
My succulent have falling leaves but there are no sign of overwatering
Lol, think I had all this problems 😊
If the leaves turned brown because of sunburn, will the leaves be able to recover ? Thank you
Yes, it can recover if the situation improves. To avoid sunburn, acclimation must be done. Here's a video about acclimation: ruclips.net/video/FHh5ZZuI--I/видео.html

why my ghost plant's leaves turns to yellow even i dont water it?
Overwatering i guess thq for sharing these tips frm today even i will talk tot succelents😅😂
All the best
why my succulents are becoming soft day by day what is should do please explain
What you can do for mild cases is to uproot them and airdry for 1 week or so until they are totally dry and sign of overwatering is gone, then replant. For advance cases, just cut the healthy part and propagate it. If all are mushy, it might have a little or no chance to survive
2:19 when you over water a succulent, it turns into a peacock, noted.
Jokes aside, succulents are beautiful ✨
🙂
I am confused. My soil is wet. The leaves are wrinkled and dropping 🤦🏼♀️ please help
