Operating portable is always full of surprises. I've been caught off guard by storms coming in very quick. Great DX to TX!

Yeah, forecast said "no rain" which is why I didn't put up any shelter.. they lied 😉
TX was really fun on SSB!

Thanks, felt I wanted something with a logo on it 😉
Texas was really fun, not often I reach that far on SSB!

I am so envious that you can just make a fire in the woods like that. This is strictly forbidden here in Germany

It is a nice thing to do yes. It's illegal in summer,, when there's a forest fire hazard, or in some nature reserves. That day was obviously no forest fire hazard 😉

Thanks for another great video from Norway.
+7 ° is an excellent temperature for activation.
I see trees, do you use dipole antennas suspended from a tree?
    Instead of a vertical antenna.

Thank you 😊 I really like to operate around 7 - 15 C, perfect for hiking.
I haven't tried mounting it in the trees, the forest is a bit dense to stretch it out properly, and I don't want to damage the them. I've used a Inverted VEE in this forest before, but due to the trees it was more like a Inverted Ȝ

      Aha, I get your humor.
I actively use different dipoles and inverted Vee in all types of forests.
I also use 5 bands GP DL2KQ, in an open area, my best antenna.

for this one a vertical is easy@@R2DXU . If I moved a few meters sideways to the other POTA in the area I'd be able to use a bigger antenna. I've found vertical works best here though

You appear to be quite far from home. How did you get to the park and how long did it take?

    • @LB4FH
      @LB4FH  9 месяцев назад +1

Actually not, it's a 25 minute drive and a 15 minute walk in mostly flat terrain, it's just a bit out into the countryside. Nice place to go to after work.

Hmm, shall I 1) drown trying to get to a POTA area, 2) scare a stranger that is operating a chainsaw, or 3) stay right here? Tough choice.

The guy with the chainsaw was really nice, talked with him on the way home. He turned out to be some sort of classic wood carver that wanted locally grown wood for his projects.
