I saw the video of the monolithic home in the wildfire a long time ago. It just skipped over the hill and the house only needed cosmetics on the outside. No major damage. But I think it's important for people to know, especially after Maui, that if a fire is that thick, there are gases that can kill you even though the home is fireproof. Evacuate when it's dangerous.
A very good air-filtration is key. Having this in mind will create safety. While the dome shape & its stability will provide the outside protection, and as your personal testimony supports that - as well as what is outthere for others to see for themselves, too - as for the outside of the Domes; as long as it's built well, one may only face some cosmetic damage [on the outside]. Harry, I agree with everything you said! Reinforced concrete dome homes are safe and efficient structures that can stand up to almost anything! Standard wood construction rots away over time, burns up so easily, costs a fortune to heat and cool, and is not secure during times of social unrest.... I have built both styles of homes and I will never build a wood frame home again - NEVER AGAIN!.... There are unlimited shapes you can choose with reinforced concrete and it looks like you and I favor the straight exterior walls and domed roofs, I like this design so I can use standard doors and windows and be able to stand inside the structure without feeling like the walls are falling in on me.... I love the Idea of earth berming the structure (With adequate insulation and drainage!) so the earth can heat and cool my home basically for free and so that the home is totally impervious to fire, snow/ice, nuclear blast (God forbid!) and protected from social unrest like I mentioned earlier. In addition to all of that, a regular person with no training or special skills can build their own home for VERY LITTLE MONEY.... All this plus you have the ability to make the home beautiful inside and out (Look at the amazing things that other people have done).... Once again I want you to know how much all of us watching your videos appreciate your hard work and creativity Harry!

We used to email back and forth about different dome construction ideas and I tried to get him to try an idea I had that would attach the airform to the slab without any angle iron or bolts. He connected me with someone else in his office but nothing ever came of it... We asked him to come to our town to pitch a multi dome development to the city council one time (Branson, Missouri) and when he said that the domes were tornado proof one of the councilmen told him that our town would never have a tornado because of the shape of the hills. David was very gracious and after he was done he went to his hotel for the night. (His room was on the second floor of a 2 story hotel) After reading scriptures and praying (He was a Pastor for several years and had strong faith) He felt impressed to get out of the hotel and drive home immediately. Sweet video, Harry. I saw that underground dome video before, reminds me a lot of Luke's place in the original Star Wars, even though it was above ground. Would be interesting to see the bulletproof comparison between an aircrete home and a monolithic dome, in case one wants to take measures to ensure they're the same effectiveness. When I saw those ppl putting cement on by hand, got me wondering if it would be possible to build a cob version of a dome, using it instead of cement over the metal frame. I'm thinking that with spray foam being so $$$, going the thermal mass route would be better than tons of insulation, maybe even a climate battery under the slab. Thanks for showing us a great one man build off grid, Harry!!

Greetings. All the dome houses I see are circles... some are several individual domes connected. I can't help but wonder why not just build one large eliptical "dome"? This would have less surface area... meaning less exposure to the elements. I'd imagine more aerodynamic for wind to just flow over the structure, so less noisy in a windy environment. Also, the longer sides would have less curviture, making the space more useable. Do you know if there is a reason domes seem to always be built as circles and never as an oval or elipse? I love the idea of these types of homes. I’ve always thought in areas that are hardest hit by storms etc rebuild only for storms to return and knock it down again. It’s time to rethink structure of homes so they have a greater chance of standing against the wrath of Mother Nature. How do the dome homes fair when it comes to flooding as we have seen recently across the nation and different countries?
Absolutely. Rebuilding the same way makes no sense. We never know what could happen & Safety should always be the key. Your Home should be your Safe-Space. Very well, as long as you're designing them for in case of flooding situation. You won't have to worry about replacing the structure because the walls will be solid made out of concrete.
This is a geat video Harry! The designs are really nice, you've really stepped it up a notch. I can truly see myself using these concepts to design something for myself and along those lines I have a question. In Larimer Cty Colorado the R value for insulation in the exterior walls is R22 and the attic is R49 so where does the wall end and roof start with a dome home and how do you you deal with the building department as to meeting those codes? Please tell Mrs. Aircrete hello for me. Really a great job Harry, your friends Steve & Danielle.
Dear Steve & Danielle, much Love from both of us! How are you? Thank you My Friend, Appreciate your feedback 👍 👍 The separation is where the vertical walls begin to curve in. The curved in part is the roof. As long as you have a Licensed Engineer's Approval Stamp.
Welcome to the channel Brian 👍 You could do that, it's an option. My recommendation would be the Double-Shell Aircrete Dome to provide a great insulation.
@15:00, after you pour the ring beam and fill it with aircrete, then you inflate the form, and the next scene is you putting the stucco wire mesh on - but what is the layer made of that you're putting the mesh on? Pure concrete, or stucco?
@@AircreteHarryin Canada. Was quoted about $45 000 for 20 foot dome. Comes with 15 year old engineering specs from Texas. The plan has too much air, not enough heat, no laundry, and no changes to outside shell allowed to accomodate these changes. Very disappointed with monolithic domes for selling these as motel room class rentals and saying owners will make money too. I honestly expect laughter if I take to resort village with permit request to live in this which is better than -50C certain death. Oh yeah. The promo photo in this ackage looks like a potato.
If people keep ignoring the environment, they'll be forced to build homes this way. It's just logical, aerodynamically. I've been talking about monolithic domes for over 20 years. Wooden square homes never made sense to me. Thanks for making this video.
I remember emailing Mr South a long time ago (the internet was kind of new). It was about the future of housing and domes. People would laugh and scoff at the idea of domes. But would you rather have a square boxy house or a monolithic dome in a cat 5 hurricane? Monolithics were FEMA approved to withstand a cat 5. Looking at the recent wildfires and storms, it could be more like the 'Noah's Ark' story. I'm wondering if shotcrete and aircrete are the same thing? The monolithics I read about were made with shotcrete. This aircrete is a new word for me.
Welcome to the channel 👍 Glad to have you join! My pleasure - thank you for your feedback! Well written - great points & appreciated for everyone to see. You would think over the years building strog structures would speak for itself especially when rebuilding after a major disaster. I cannot say it enought - please be logical (especially for all the rebuilders ) - avoid the mistakes & invest into strength, security, quality and and and. It's been proven & makes sense. Step out of so called "comfortable" reality. There is information out there that is not advertised or promoted for selfish reasons like much in life. Knowledge is power - look into information vs trusting what someone wants to convince you of. I recently started an Interview Series to remind people of different beneficial options & techniques of building. There is no one way - someone who tells you that is either clueless or wants to make a buck without advising you of other options. Not everyone is your friend, important to remember that. Shotcrete is Portland cement, sand & water. Aircrete is Portland cement, water & shaving cream foam, also known as Cellular cement. Aircrete is not sprayable. It is to be poured into a form mold.
@@AircreteHarry Oh thank you so much for explaining the difference!!!! I taught my son about these when he was small. Monolithics never leave our minds. We're determined to build one before I die!

Welcome to the channel 👍 Feel free to be more specific about your questions. As far as price, depending on the size obviously - it is one of the least expensive methods to choose from for building a strong, safe & secure structure.
Love your work but what was really cool on this video was bulletproof. I follow the bulletproof diet. So I should add the bulletproof dome I want to build it like a hobbit house earth home. With all the wildfires in California fire proof is the way to go.
Looking at the wooden fame earthquake test.... The construction seems to be absorbing the motion of the earthquake. Which is why is stands solidly after being shaken. As far as i know, this is why modern skyscrapers literally "wobble" at the top, there designed to. The structure absorbs the energy, like trees do. In saying that, i do not see how a dome aircrete structure (solid not flexible) would be any more resilient than a square structure? Can someone please explain this to me?
Square structures have week point, walls and roof, since they are flat. Domes don't have week points. A force acting in one area, is transferred to all areas. Best comparison is a hallow square egg is weaker than a round one.
Loosing a Dear Friend, who sat inside his own home playing with his kid, through a bullet that went through his livingroom wall & not only k!lled him but left his Family - his Child - traumat!zed, --- yeah call it as you wish - if Only it was Bul|et proof.
Welcome to the channel, Yes, people all over the world deal with the aftermath of these horrible disasters. Natural disasters as well as m-made. Simply look around & consider building safe & strong. Whether building from scratch or in many cases rebuilding.
The dome is the Strongest Shape you can build with concrete. It's always under compression, like an arch. That's what concrete likes - compression. And it takes less material to build then a square house of the same size.
@@AircreteHarry but the sqft is inefficient and a lot of people don't like the look. Just saying, the main benefit seems to be coming from the concrete, not the shape. Maybe in earthquake prone areas you will need that extra strength...
The ULTIMATE roof is a dome concrete roof. A video of a reinforce concrete square building roof collapse from a vertical quake made me think of Aircrete Harry. Try a squire room with a dome roof like some Roman domes.
Welcome to the channel, It's a pr0grammed mindset, something that has been done for a long time to keep people, starting from young on, in a row, right. When seeking knowledge, it will come to you - as it has always been right in front of us. Too many people like the "comfortable" reality which hurts them more than they know, unfortunately.
@DanielWarPaint - I like your possible Bigfoot video. You should have it analyzed by someone. On the dome house; when you say, “no thanks”, do you mean you don’t like it? If so, could you explain why, a little bit, just curious; probably just an aesthetic preference.
I love them. In square built homes we have wasted space. And my safety in the next 25 to 30yrs is so important. I love love them, the other is it's maintenance free. The utilities will be so much cheaper..Everything you own is safe. You don't need safes for guns. Your Dome home will not burn. Do you know how that makes me feel? Awesome and safe!!!
@@lilajtblueHopefully it will never come to that obviously - yet most of us know one too many people who lost their homes but still rebuilding the same way. That is what needs to change.

do you you deal with the building department as to meeting those codes? Please tell Mrs. Aircrete hello for me. Really a great job Harry, your friends Steve & Danielle.
Dear Steve & Danielle, much Love from both of us! How are you?
Thank you My Friend, Appreciate your feedback 👍 👍
The separation is where the vertical walls begin to curve in. The curved in part is the roof. As long as you have a Licensed Engineer's Approval Stamp.
great video!!! question...what about radiation?
Welcome to the channel George,
Thank you for your feedback.
I test for radiation before starting projects.
I would like something like this but was wondering if they can be put underground without windows.
Welcome to the channel Dan,
Yes, it is possible to do it.
Can you spray a layer on the outside of the form and another layer on the inside? Leaving the blowup form In the middle of it all?
Welcome to the channel Brian 👍
You could do that, it's an option.
My recommendation would be the Double-Shell Aircrete Dome to provide a great insulation.
Hi Harry!
WELCOME 👍 👍
KD0 TUG ....😄
@15:00, after you pour the ring beam and fill it with aircrete, then you inflate the form, and the next scene is you putting the stucco wire mesh on - but what is the layer made of that you're putting the mesh on? Pure concrete, or stucco?
Air-Form, Supportive Mesh-Form, Stucco Mix, Stucco Wire Mesh.
@@AircreteHarry Thank you!
@@B30pt87 You got it!! 👍
My life is so much more important than the looks or let me say traditional homes
im really wanting to find out how much a build for a 850 or so sqf 2 br 2bth dome would cost to build in southern IL.
Welcome to the channel Kathy,
With today's prices: 15-20K to build yourself.

Glad to have you join!

Welcome to the channel,
Thank you for your feedback.
How does Cooling & Heating go about inside these structures?
Welcome to the channel 👍
Happy New Year!
For Heating:
Radiant Floor Heating
For Cooling:
Geothermal Energy Tubing
The heat circulates in a Dome structure better as well.
@@AircreteHarry nice!!! Just like an earthship but a fraction of the cost
@@realtruth1448 Yes!! Very well stated 👍 👍
@@AircreteHarry thanks so much man, I was sitting on the fence about going for aircrete or an earthship mainly because the earthship has their “built in” ac, and I couldn’t find any information on aircrete’s AC, but now that I know aircrete homes also has “built in ac” like earthships I 100% want an aircrete home, but I don’t want to build one myself, what way should I go about getting one built, I heard that the company in Paris, Texas does a good job, do you recommend anything for me?
@@realtruth1448 You are very Welcome, send me an email to Aircreteharry@gmail.com - and we'll forward you some informaion & recommendation.
My sister and I want a Dome house. I went to Italy Texas in the 90tys. I just talked her into getting one. So if you know a builder let me know. Thanks from Louisiana.
Great, glad you can see the benefits of a dome structure.

Y'all make all the excuses you want but ill be so glad to have one built.
That's the great attitude!
California, Greece, Hawaii, 9-11 fires? Can you spell: D.E.W. or Directed Energy Weapon
Who are doing this and why?
Would you be willing to do a build in the slocan valley?
Hi Mike, email me:
Aircreteharry@gmail.com
How big is this home you just built
Price and financing ????
Welcome to the channel 👍
Feel free to be more specific about your questions.
For Sure, SAFETY is Key. Why play around with safety, right? ✅️
And all the extras are an even bigger Benefit!
I like that diet, too Brother 👍 👍
It is a very good structure and tough, but if a tornado comes by wielding a diesel locomotive, you better not be in the house.
You'd be surprised how strong they are. I would prefer to seek safety there vs elsewhere during a tornado. Choices, right.
"But can my home stop a bullet" - so American!
Loosing a Dear Friend, who sat inside his own home playing with his kid, through a bullet that went through his livingroom wall & not only k!lled him but left his Family - his Child - traumat!zed, --- yeah call it as you wish - if Only it was Bul|et proof.

Broooooooooo are you hiring please say yes.
I know this was uploaded 1 year ago, but the same news is today
Welcome to the channel,
Yes, people all over the world deal with the aftermath of these horrible disasters. Natural disasters as well as m-made. Simply look around & consider building safe & strong. Whether building from scratch or in many cases rebuilding.
But why a dome? Why not just concrete?
The dome is the Strongest Shape you can build with concrete. It's always under compression, like an arch. That's what concrete likes - compression. And it takes less material to build then a square house of the same size.
@@AircreteHarry but the sqft is inefficient and a lot of people don't like the look. Just saying, the main benefit seems to be coming from the concrete, not the shape. Maybe in earthquake prone areas you will need that extra strength...
@@GAsh0012 The video covers it. At the end of the day - it's up to you.
The ULTIMATE roof is a dome concrete roof. A video of a reinforce concrete square building roof collapse from a vertical quake made me think of Aircrete Harry. Try a squire room with a dome roof like some Roman domes.
Most people are FOLLOWERS...they just can't be different...weak
Welcome to the channel,
It's a pr0grammed mindset, something that has been done for a long time to keep people, starting from young on, in a row, right. When seeking knowledge, it will come to you - as it has always been right in front of us.
Too many people like the "comfortable" reality which hurts them more than they know, unfortunately.
dome houses is not suitable in tropical countries with high rain fall
Completely untrue.
4 minutes in,,,,
No Thanks,
@DanielWarPaint -
I like your possible Bigfoot video.
You should have it analyzed by someone.
On the dome house; when you say, “no thanks”, do you mean you don’t like it?
If so, could you explain why, a little bit, just curious; probably just an aesthetic preference.
I love round concrete buildings.... Are you saying you don't?
When your house burns you'll rethink it.
