WHT 007 212 B is the part No. for the O ring. It will fit CCTA and CBFA engines. Elring is the OE manufacturer. It should be a 52 x 3 mm o ring. It should cost $4-6.00 whether OEM or OE. I just fit one on my CBFA engine and all is well. NOTE: both ECS tuning and FCP euro states that it does not fit my car (Audi A3 2.0T TSI CBFA), however it fit perfectly and my oil leak has ceased.
I bought that part number for our 2013 cbfa based beetle. Too small of a diameter by like 3mm. It will not sit in the groove while I put the cam magnet back in. I ended up rolling the existing o-ring inside-out and reusing it. In our case, the culprit for the leak was the upper timing cover seal.

I'm not a mechanic. However, a few months back, my 2015 tiguan had an oil leak. I used to help my ex-husband work on cars and trucks often, so I figured I could try to figure this out. There was oil in where the spark plug is in cylinder 1, and oil seemed to be coming from the cam tray. So I decided to replace the seal with sealant and all other gaskets related to the project. I noticed the cam adjuster was "stuck," but I was able to free it and not knowing if this was the problem was I decided to reuse it with a new gasket. I was shocked the car started right up when I got it back together and didn't seem to have any leaks. The check engine light kept coming on, so I took it to 2 different mechanics. And they said I did a great job. There was no leak. I reset the check engine light and put almost 6000 miles on it. Today, I went to change the oil, and desvered the leak is worse than the first time. Could this be because I didn't replace the gasket you mentioned or the magnetic cam adjuster? Please help. Do I start over again or take a loan out and find a mechanic? Also, because it has 105,000 ish miles on it, should I have the timing chain replaced while I'm at it or anything else?
Thanks for posting. I had the oil leak you described and the O-ring fixed it. I replaced the upper timing cover a year ago so I was pretty sure that wasn't it, but the leak was coming from the cover. It was difficult to isolate so thanks for the expert tip!

I had bought my 2010 A5 with 220km 2.0L TFSI. Had oil all Over the place. Cleaned the whole engine bay top to bottom so I can find where the oil was disappearing to. After washing it for several hours I discovered that the oil leak is coming from a poor installation of the upper timing chain cover/gasket. Must have been leaking for a while. Fixed up now and all cleaned up.
I have a 2010 Tiguan 2.0T. I put a little extra oil in the engine, about 3/4 a quart and noticed oil leaking. figured out it was leaking out some valves and hoses cause it was to full. I changed the oil and filled it to 3/4 way up the cross hatch and haven't had any more oil leaking. So check your oil level! If you keep driving like that you will blow gaskets including rear engine seal, this is what causes the big problems. These VW's are very sensitive! I've owned Ford ,Chevy, Dodge, Nissan and Toyota and had no problems with and extra 1/2 quart or full quart, but the VW's are a lot more accurate with these things.
Bought a 2009 tiguan. There is a good size oil leak on passenger side of the engine that's been blowing oil clear over to the inside of the passenger side front wheel and soaking all the brake assembly also.
So I have a mk6 GTI, had the timing chain and tensioner job done about 5/6k ago and the thing is leaking about 1/4 quart every 60 miles from both the turbo outlet pipe and the upper timing cover. All of these gaskets and such have been replaced. And I also did the cam adjuster o-ring. I'm replacing the upper timing cover gasket again as well as the dipstick tube o-ring as well. Are there any other things that could be the culprit causing these leaks? I might add that the turbo and manifold and havr about 6/7k on them also the pcv system was replaced only a few hundred ago. Hey Charles, I've started changing the oil on my 15 Passat 1.8 TSI and wanted to know if there is additional service or fluid add or change for the turbo system. Any info is appreciated.
I have a 2009 Tiguan has an oil leek I was told it is the valve cover gasket. Another told me you need to replace the replace the head gasket as well. is that true? thanks
Hi Humble mechanic I have a questions for you it’s about my Tiguan 2016 S with 58000 miles starting to show me a red oil warning light in the cluster. The owner manual says : low oil pressure. I changed the oil and level is normal What can be that light? Can I fix by me or I need to go to dealership. Please give me your advice
I have a 2008 Audi A4 Quattro with 2.0T. I have notice an oil consumption issue and its coming from the turbo and innercoolers to the intake. Been to the dealer for this problem and they told me I had a bad turbo, replaced the turbo and nothing changed! I went to another shop and they told me that the baffle in the valve cover for the oil/air separator is causing the issue. Before I go spend anymore unnecessary money, do you support this theory?
My car was leaking a lot of oil, we change the pcv valve, the gasket for the vacuum pump fuel pump (I’m not even sure about the name) and than it was less oil now is leaking from like the top of the turbo where the intake and the turbo are, what it can be
Nope, found put that the spring/plunger thing where the oil filter goes popped out without me knowing. And apparently the coolant has a slightly oily feeling to it. Everything is fine.
Hi there, I have an audi 2009 b8, same 2.0T Engine tfsi audi wont cover the repair, but i got my pop's to do it for me, question is, Would I replace the pistons and piston rings standard size? or will it be it be over size ? -Sal
How about my 2006 audi a4 b7 2.0tfsi had 90k mls and consume 1l/400km. No leak, new pcv valve anhd hoses, new vac pump, clean engine no leak. And my local mechanic said need new piston rings. No point to spend 4k for engine rebuild.
Hi there, The area where the oil filler cap is I notice there is oil around.. Do you think the filler cap needs to be replaced? Anyone had the same issue on the MK7 GTI?
Hey Charles, On the off chance you’ll still see this, got a couple quick questions. Just had my timing chain tensioner and covers swapped out a couple hundred miles ago, and had a LOW OIL PRESSURE warning come up. I was basically out of oil with no apparent leaks under the car and no odd engine behavior. The one “symptom” I may have noticed is a greasy (oily) blackish buildup on the rear hatch door and window. This was most noticeable after a 250 mile drive doing 80mph the most of the way. Have you heard of that? It COULD just be road grime, but I’ve never seen anything like that before on the same trip. Are they related? Is excess oil being coughed out my exhaust? So in short, would no other running engine issues and oily buildup on the rear hatch door AFTER having the timing chain tensioner and covers done indicate that the issue is what you described in the video? Thanks, Dan
my 2009 audi a4 2.0t is also consuming oil too quickly my opinion. 3 quarts, every 2 weeks . it just hit 108k miles and this problem started right after I changed my pcv valve. Any help or ideas would be helpful. thanks YT viewers. ?
Bryan Antiveros get a catch can. If the oil is not leaking, and you just replaced your PCV valve, it sounds like the PCV valve is throwing a lot of oil/air/fuel mixture from the fly by in the combustion chamber right back into your air system. Try pulling your intercooler pipes, or if you are not turbo try pulling off the air intake hose and see if there is excessive amounts of oil in there. If there is, clean it out, and install a catch can. A catch can will catch all the oil and fuel in it and recycle just air into the air system. You will still lose lots of oil, and I am not going to try to diagnose why, but, most likely all the oil (again, if the car is not leaking) is because your pcv valve is throwing it all into the air system which is not good for it!
Bryan Antiveros I have the same problem with a tsi engine 2008 Volkswagen Passat a lot of oil consumption was thinking to install a catch can what brand will be good for this Volkswagen?
So my 09 a4 2.0 just hit 100k was throwing multi misfires lean codes etc. I replaced the pcv diaphragm, from pulling the oil cap and having it have suction. So after doing so I noticed I now have a small oil leak but it fixed the misfires and now has a high idle after being put into park just about 1k then back down and that’s it. Mil is on with codes 0507 and 2187. Any feedback would be great! Car runs fine other than crappy mpg.
Thanks for the fast reply! Also, do you think I should just replace the whole pcv and not just the diaphragm? Mine currently has the black and whatever color that is on the back white or cream on it ? Prob has never been changed

Hello -- always such great information. Would you consider the O-ring referenced in video something that would be part of a standard timing chain R&R service? You already have the front cover of engine off and replacing a $5 O-ring seems like a no-brainer regardless of age. What does the standard VW service manual say? Or is this tribal knowledge?
Hi humblemechanic, I will be going to tech school (in usa that's how they call it?) for technical specialist passenger cars. I'd like to ask what do you recommend as for tools?, I have a Kraftwerk socket set with 3 different size ratchets. what toolbox should i get as a starting technician? Hi Charles, great work, your videos have been a great help since I purchased my mk6 gti 2010 euro CCZB with its seemingly never ending issues!! I need your advice please, I have a rear main leak caused by a failed PCV, I've fitted the latest revision PCV and my local shop has replaced the rear main which was spinning on the crank, after 70 miles the new one leaked too, so they fitted another (with the fitting tool/sleeve) which also leaks (the leak with both new seals is coming from between the seal and crank not from behind the plate) is there a special way to fit the seal? (Is it just push on) why would it still leak? I'm at my wits end with this one! Hope you can help! Thanks.

Hey Charles my name is Ozzie I have a 2012 Audi A4 B8 2.0tfsi tip tronic 8 speed. I'm having trouble finding out why some of my boost is missing. I recently installed a K04 CTS turbo and got it tuned by APR. Felt great right after that with a huge difference but still missing boost. I get oil leaking out of the top timing chain gasket onto the cylinder where I find little amounts of oil. I do have my vag com and found 7 codes but nothing with engine codes. Can any other codes cause the ecu to bring the boost down to a certain amount for safety reasons? Also what do you think the cause of the oil can be? Finally how do I vag com the fuel and boost readings in there while driving? I've tried a lot of things and inspected things but everything looks good. Would really appreciate some help on this

Hi Charles, thanks for another great video 👍. My 2009 Tiguan (with 229000km) looks to be displaying the symptoms - very minor oil 'leak' trom front top of timing chain cover, and runs to adjoining rocker cover, then down the engine to slowly drip out. So I'll be getting my mechanic to take a look after showing him this video. Is there a mileage that this typically happens at?.. or to put it another way, what's the typical life of one of those o-rings? Thanks, Scott.

+Qogu ouch. That's a good place to start. Some of those had bad rings too.
@@HumbleMechanic my car is actually leaking.
Hey Charles, I've started changing the oil on my 15 Passat 1.8 TSI and wanted to know if there is additional service or fluid add or change for the turbo system. Any info is appreciated.
Not really anything extra needed, just be sure you are using the right oil
I have a 2009 Tiguan has an oil leek I was told it is the valve cover gasket. Another told me you need to replace the replace the head gasket as well. is that true? thanks
tough to tell with out looking. but usually it's the cam ladder that is leaking.
thanks what is the cam ladder?
2009 don't have valve cover gasket they use silicone
Hi Humble mechanic I have a questions for you it’s about my Tiguan 2016 S with 58000 miles starting to show me a red oil warning light in the cluster. The owner manual says : low oil pressure.
I changed the oil and level is normal
What can be that light?
Can I fix by me or I need to go to dealership.
Please give me your advice
I have a 2008 Audi A4 Quattro with 2.0T. I have notice an oil consumption issue and its coming from the turbo and innercoolers to the intake. Been to the dealer for this problem and they told me I had a bad turbo, replaced the turbo and nothing changed! I went to another shop and they told me that the baffle in the valve cover for the oil/air separator is causing the issue. Before I go spend anymore unnecessary money, do you support this theory?
My car was leaking a lot of oil, we change the pcv valve, the gasket for the vacuum pump fuel pump (I’m not even sure about the name) and than it was less oil now is leaking from like the top of the turbo where the intake and the turbo are, what it can be
Rear main seal?
I just change the oil on my 2013 GTI. Started driving, low oil pressure light goes on checks oil still there, Dad checks it almost no oil
YIKES
There is oil in the coolant reservoir. Head gasket?
Probably didn’t even fill it up
Nope, found put that the spring/plunger thing where the oil filter goes popped out without me knowing. And apparently the coolant has a slightly oily feeling to it. Everything is fine.
Hi there, I have an audi 2009 b8, same 2.0T Engine tfsi
audi wont cover the repair, but i got my pop's to do it for me, question is,
Would I replace the pistons and piston rings standard size?
or will it be it be over size ?
Hi there,
The area where the oil filler cap is I notice there is oil around..
Do you think the filler cap needs to be replaced?
Anyone had the same issue on the MK7 GTI?
Start with a cap and seal
@@HumbleMechanic Ok great will order one. Thanks!
Hey Charles,
On the off chance you’ll still see this, got a couple quick questions.
Thanks,
Dan
my 2009 audi a4 2.0t is also consuming oil too quickly my opinion.
You will still lose lots of oil, and I am not going to try to diagnose why, but, most likely all the oil (again, if the car is not leaking) is because your pcv valve is throwing it all into the air system which is not good for it!
pistons
Bryan Antiveros I have the same problem with a tsi
engine 2008 Volkswagen Passat a lot of oil consumption was thinking to install a catch can what brand will be good for this Volkswagen?
I’m beyond stressed with this oil leak On my 2.0t i call it the mystery Oil leak I don’t like how they Engineered That cover
Make sure you didn’t get the updated PCV that requires an ECM update and crank seal
Thanks for the fast reply! Also, do you think I should just replace the whole pcv and not just the diaphragm? Mine currently has the black and whatever color that is on the back white or cream on it ? Prob has never been changed
Hi we have a oil leak on the passenger side 2010 2.0 tsi Volkswagen Tiguan. Your thoughts? Thank you for your consideration
Probably the timing cover
@@HumbleMechanic No rear main seal? We did notice it's coming from the left side your thoughts?Thank you so much for your quick response.👍👍👍
You said it was coming from the passenger side. The RMS is central until the hood
Hey Charles, just wondering if you can link me to this o ring or give me a part number, thanks! Mk6 2.0 tsi cbfa
Jamie Havens I need to know that part too. If you google it or go to shopdap etc, it's not clear what to look for.
+Megatron Google can you guys fire me an email? I'll see if I can help out. The commenting thread on YT is jacked up. I can't even see what video this comment is on
charles, i seem to have this problem. is leaking 3 quarts over 6 months and 10,000 miles a posibility from this leak?
Hello -- always such great information.
Would you consider the O-ring referenced in video something that would be part of a standard timing chain R&R service?
You already have the front cover of engine off and replacing a $5 O-ring seems like a no-brainer regardless of age.
What does the standard VW service manual say? Or is this tribal knowledge?
I was also at the AAPEX show. Sugar Ray Leonard was also there.
+1970chevelle396 sweet!!! Hahaha unintended joke
(i'm from Holland, so we have more German tools than brands like Snap-On).
what tools do you really need? and what should I get later?
many thanks,
Jasper
Thanks.

Hey Charles my name is Ozzie
I have a 2012 Audi A4 B8 2.0tfsi tip tronic 8 speed.
Would really appreciate some help on this
+jgizin thanks for your post but i dont find this reference anywhere (google) can you realize if it was actualized? Other question, my english isn't very good and i dont understand 100% of the vid. +HumbleMechanic this o-ring where is located exactly, inner in the variator? I dont see this o-ring in any parts images... please, help. Best regards
Hey Charles, quick question. Getting a p0507 code on my Jetta. Any common things to check? Thank you for continuing to post quality content 👌
Should have mentioned it was an 09 tsi
+Soaked In Oil look for an air leak. Most common is PCV or an oil leak causing a vacuum leak
HumbleMechanic thanks for the quick response. I've already replaced the PCV but just had my waterpump and decarb done so I'll have to keep looking. Thank you 👌
+Soaked In Oil be sure the rear main seal is not leaking. That can cause it too
Hi Charles, thanks for another great video 👍.
Thanks, Scott.
anywhere in the 40k and up miles does not surprise me.
Is the TSI the same as a TSFI?
Do you mean TFSI? I am not sure about TSFI... IF you mean TFSI then yes they are the same. But there are tons of engines that are TSI
Oops, yeah I meant TFSI. (So many letters, so little time haha)
And okay, I found an A4 for sale but the engine said TFSI, never seen that before, only TSI and FSI.
2016 Audi A3 2.0t here @@HumbleMechanic ... is this different?
Hey Charles is it possible to change that seal without taking off the side cover?
Dealership VW is selling a 2013 Tiquan with 45,689 original miles, car sounds good but once I got under the hood i noticed oil spray....salesman said they just replaced front oil gasket also noticed mud up to all four door gaskets....outside of the massive amount of dog hair still the car the car looks good...wait I forgot about the side body door dings and hood. The dogs seems symmetrical even...hmmm. Asking price $13,899. Today's date after test drive...10/06/19
Goodness I’d probably pass
Dings are symmetrical...Damn auto word correction
Skip it for sure I bought a Volkswagen and nothing but problems.
