I have no idea how I fell into the rabbit hole of your videos, but I find them interesting. I would love to sit down one day and see how the Douy Rheims and KJV match up.
My previous Pastor is a graduate of Ruckman's PBI. He told the assembly that the 1611 KJB was not a translation, but was a direct revelation from God to the KJB translators. I asked him why the translators of the 1611 KJB stated differently, even referring to themselves as "translators" from the ancient languages. This pastor then went on a rant about double-inspiration, citing Psalm 12 and other passages. Then, when I asked him, If the 1611 KJB was perfect, why update the grammar and change the typeset, why remove the apocryphal books, and why add italicized words. He hasn't replied yet, and this was over 4 months ago. I like my KJB and my NKJB and my NASB and my ESV. Thank you brother Jonathan.
I stick with the KJV because of personal preference. One of my great passions is classic literature. I adore the poetry of the KJV. I do occasionally read other translations too. God bless.
@@biblehighlighter "they are minor differences". and yet YOU GUYS will literally nitpick over MINOR differences when condemning uses of the NKJV over the KJV.!! Which standard are you guys going to use? Are "minor variations" important enough to call one a satanic perversion of the other? or are "minor variations" unimportant?

You were gracious to address me in another comments section under one of your older videos on this topic. I have seen this latest KJVO video and pray that the Lord lead you according to His pleasure. As for me and my house, we shall hold fast to what little we have and hope that we’re among the church at Philadelphia very soon.
Hey brother. I just wanted to say again. I really enjoy listening to you. This isn't an area I struggle with but I know that there are many who are in that battle right now and many who are confused. You have such a zeal and pashion for your brothers and sisters who are stuck in this. Its amazing how God uses our past circumstances to equip us for His purpose in serving others. Because of where you've come from in the KJV only churches, you are greatly equipped to speak the truth in these areas and help others and I think that's such a blessing. Your clarity and and precision on this issue is razor sharp and I pray that it pricks the hearts of many to gain understanding. I would love to see you team up with Mark Ward for some projects or interviews. I think some really cool stuff could come out of that. I pray that you two get to meet eachother and talk.
@@biblehighlighterThe NIV far stronger on the deity of Christ than the KJV ever was. That is why the cults that deny the deity of Christ. Mormons, Christian Scientist, Jehovah Witnesses before they used their own translation. All got there heresies from the KJV. The KJV only cult, false teaching, and heresy started by a Seventh Day Adventist cultist. A cult built on the false reaching of Ellen G White. Meanwhile God is using and blessing these excellent modern translations to bring many to Christ. The angels of heaven are rejoicing over one sinner that repents. But the miserable idolatrous blasphemous KJV only cult that Satan has raised up. Calls these excellent more accurate modern translations. Perverted, corrupt, sataniic. How can Satan cast out Satan. Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. As for the Alexandria bad and Antioch good delusions that the deceivers of the KJV only cult like to parrot. It was in Antioch where Arianism arose, denying the deity of Christ and the Holy Spirit. Saying that Christ was a created being. It was the synod in Alexandria that rejected the Arian heresy. It was from Alexandria that defended the biblical doctrine of the trinity. That Christ and the Holy Spirit were uncreated one with the Father. That Jesus is Almighty God but became a man. Without sin to die for our sin. So more lies from the idolatrous, blasphemous KJV only cult A cult that is indefensible unbilical destructive and Christ dishonouring. A cancer from the pit of hell.
Regarding the "Old King James Only" people: Here's the thing... 1- Do you think God would write a Bible that was only limited to one, specific translation? That means millions of people who read any translation other than the Old King James, are still condemned to Hell because they did not come to Jesus through the Old King James version. 2- If people can only find God through the Old King's English... then anyone who speaks only Spanish, Russian, Japanese, Chinese, German, Portuguese, or any of the 700+ languages on the planet, are also all condemned to Hell under the Old King James Only people. This is absolutely absurd an non-Biblical to say the least. 3- Furthermore, if these Old King James Only people are such fanatics about purity... then THEY should ALL spend the next 30 or 40 years learning Hebrew, Greek and Aramic along with all of their forgotten nuances of the time. THAT would be "true purity" in the texts... not some Old King James version that is a translation in and of itself. My Conclusion: The Old King James ONLY Cult is just that... a cult. They are adding to and taking away from The Word of God... which is strictly FORBIDDEN! They have turned salvation into a matter of WORKS, not the free gift of grace through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ... by ANY Language. Pray for them but do not listen to them. Above all, do not argue with them because they are only disrupting and dividing the body of Christ... leading new, young Christians AWAY from the truth of the Bible. This is how Satan operates... truth mixed with lies. Remember that... Truth, mixed with Lies!
Thank you for your video and your stance. I came to faith through a KJV only ministry and this was a stance I held for about 14 years of my life before seeing the gross errors of this movement. This needs to be exposed for what it is.
I suspect that it may have something to do with the pride evident in some KJVO circles. There is no grace extended to those who truly are seeking but prefer translation that’s easier to read. Sometimes they also gloss over mistranslations in the KJV also.
I would really like you are out Pastor, but some people in my church will never consider you as such, for your open minded views. God Bless you brother and keep going with this
The strain of KJV Onlyism discussed at the beginning of the video is at best a different gospel and at worst outright blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.
I personally heard Dr.Ruckman say he did not hold to the view that you can't be saved by anything other than the KJV. So this is even more far out there than he was.
Burris has come unhinged after being fired, it's seems he has had this view for awhile, maybe he has been trying to get this church away from the KJB for years and it didn't work.
@@billywalker21 Should and shall are the same word. Shall is the form in the indicative mood, and should is the form in the subjunctive mood. Should is also the past tense form in the indicative mood. I think it is saying the same thing. I think he is saying this is what you should do and this is what shall happen if you do.
I used to believe this. sad. I used to believe that if someone was saved, and that they don't read the KJV, somewhere down the line they must have heard the KJV and that's how they got saved. To bad Abraham didnt have access to the KJV. oh wait...
I'm sure that's what some people in KJVO believe but that's a pretty gross misrepresentation of what it means to be King James Only. Most people in that crowd (speaking for myself anyway) simply mean that the King James Bible is the ONLY word perfect Bible in the English language. Every single other Bible has errors and falsehoods. Why in the world anyone would want to use a bible with errors, I have no idea, except that people want to make the Bible say whatever they want. Don't get me wrong, people will do that anyway. But it's a lot easier to twist the Bible when you use 15 different versions and you pick and choose which version uses the reading that best aligns with what you WANT to believe.
Pastor Jonathan, God bless you. Abide in His love. Don't strike back. Forgive your persecutors. I'm speaking from personal experience. Pray for your enemies. "Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all". God has a plan. He has not deserted you.
I think it's fair to say that even the KJV translators weren't KJV-onlyists, that itself puts this whole thing to rest. It's not a perfect translation, anyone who has worked as a translator knows that languages are too fluid and context-dependent to exclude ANY other alternative in translating a text. Each translation has its shortcomings to some extent. That's just how things are
Ironically, I have KJV try to use part of the preface to support their position, but their response to what the preface says about other versions, they quickly state that the preface isn’t inspired. 🤦♂️
In the preface of the 1611 edition, the translators said they weren’t inspired, because there were many places they didn’t know for sure if they got it right. So to compensate for that, they put alternate translations in the margins of the pages. In later editions, some of those alternates were moved into the text. These facts are ignored by KJVOs. I was talking to one who said “They [the translators] were inspired. They just didn’t know it.”
Thank you Pastor Burris. This is really informative. Im from South Africa. Here we do have our own translation in our own language which is Afrikaans. But i really enjoy the English translations. I do most of them in hard copy. I find myself really enjoying reading the NLT. I appreciate your videos so much. As i have a King James, but some of the wording is just above my capabilities. I truly believe the top modern translations are all God inspred and taken really seriously by each translation committee. Its better to enjoy and understand the word of God, than to just feel inferior and not read at all. May the Lord bless you and your family Pastor. For everyone who does enjoy and conform to the King James, may the Lord bless you too. But you are right and on point Pastor. We cant say one bible is the only Word of God and judge others. Jesus wants us to love our fellow believers, and i believe not be critical in unnecessary ways. His Spirit will always guide us. I do believe that transportation committee's are guided always by the Holy Spirit. Thank you Pastor Burris for standing up for your views. Ive come to learn from watching your videos that you love the King James, and that is great too. God has given you the mind to understand the wording. At the end of the day All Glory to God 🙌 His Word is Living and the most precious and privileged possession anyone can have in their homes.
About the whole Geniva Bible thing, they would just claim that the Geniva Bible wasnt perfect, but it wasnt a corruption either...therefore people could be saved from it
But that's exactly the point. If "not perfect but also not a corruption" is even a thing then KJVO falls. Most of the time the bats of their whole argument is just that. "things that are different are not the same." and "if you don't have a word-perfect Bible then you don't have a Bible at all"
Thank you for the heart. But at that time I was adding a P.S.. I asked had you considered doing a video on the Prefaces of the KJV and modern translations. See what the translators believed, were trying to achieve, and hoped readers would gain. That might help ameliorate some of the antagonism one sometimes hears, impugning the motives behind some modern translations. :--}>
I seem to recall some of these KJV only people claiming those who don't know English have to learn English so they can read the KJV before they can be saved.
Dr. Sam Gipp is a great example of one who believes this. He says it very early in this video: ruclips.net/video/YH5g0gXW0FI/видео.htmlsi=1F263VbQkHWmJAFr
I am glad that the Christians that I engage with in real life are KJV preference, and not KJV onlyists. I guess I don't understand the point. I work in a Special Needs ministry and I have bought NIrV for disciples because it was at a readable level for them. If they tried to read the KJV there would have been no understanding and it would have cut off the illumination of the Word of God from Christians. "How shall men meditate in that which they cannot understand?" Thank you for these videos Pastor Burris.
Thanks for putting a “stick in a hornet’s nest.” Believe it or not me and Pop had some discussions about a couple of other versions. He held great respect for Charles Stanley though he didn’t agree with what he preached from, the ARSB. We agreed to disagree on some matters, but he still had an open minded approach throughout such discussions.
Pastor Burris, I have a genuine question. How do KJV-Onlyists account for the Bible in other languages? In other words, do they see a Bible written in Portuguese, or Spanish, or German, as the preserved word of God as well, or would they say that only the English speaking world (via the KJV) have the authentic, inspired, inerrant word of God? Thanks!
Some simply don't care. English is the language of the world so as long as there is a perfect Bible in English (according to them), it doesn't matter if it is provided elsewhere. That's the view of people like Sam Gipp and many others. Others believe that bibles in other languages must be translated from the KJV or it is not a real bible. Earlier this year, my head exploded when I heard a missionary to Albania tell me that one of the tasks for the ministry would be to provide a Bible to the Albanian people because they didn't have one. There are around 13 Albanian translations available and the Greek New Testament was translated to Albanian before the year 500. It was a laughable statement, but because no Albanian Bible has been translated from the KJV, they don't consider there to be an actual Albanian Bible. Stuff like that drives me crazy.
@@pastorburris Thank you very much for taking the time to answer! Yeah, I find it incredible that some people legitimately think this way. God bless you, sir! I pray that you and your family are doing well and that you find a new church in which you can shepherd the flock.
Thank you, Pastor, for these videos. You are public enemy no. 1 to the KJV only folks. Thank you for speaking out! May the Lord guide and use you and your family as He wills!
Amen brother. The KKV only people are legalists in the spirit of the Pharisees. I love the KJV. I read it and it was my first Bible when I was a child, but do not believe it is the only translation accepted by God.
The idea you have to be a legalist to believe the that every single word of God is perfect and pure is a completely erroneous statement. Almost everyone who preaches a pure gospel teaches from a King James Bible. The people who teach that salvation is 100% by believing in Jesus Christ and that there is NOTHING you can do to lose salvation are largely people who use the King James Bible. Every other bible will sneak works into the equation. Tell me, is it legalistic to say that you can do whatever you want after you're saved and STILL be saved? Because that IS the gospel. If you don't understand that, you don't understand that Jesus Christ paid for ALL sins and you are STILL trying to earn your way to heaven while you claim you believe in Jesus.
Brother, I didn’t state anything about not believing every word of the Bible is true. I believe that with all my heart and know that Jesus died for every sin I have committed or will commit in the future and that nothing can cause my salvation to be lost.
@rickcharles1561 amen brother, if you believe that you are my brother indeed my friend. Nothing can separate us from the love of Christ Jesus. If there was ANYTHING we could do to lose our salvation... he didn't pay it all. It's funny... there's nothing that makes me want to love and serve God more than knowing he did it all for me. Some people think if you teach people that they don't have to change after they're saved they'll do whatever they want. It's exactly the opposite. When I understood I could never repent enough of my sins, never do enough good works, never do enough to save myself or keep myself saved... that's what truly sets out hearts FREE. Jesus paid it all brother.
Thank you Pastor Burris for your concise argument on this subject. I came out of a fundamentalist church that only believed the KJB translation was the only inspired and correct version, all others were a perversion. I fully disagree and was one of the reasons I left that movement. I enjoy and use the ESV, LSB, NASB, and other good, accurate modern translations to study God’s word. I find the other view to be very limited and bias.
While I appreciate your enthusiasm and information, I have a hard time imagining that this is an actual problem in the church today? We have so many problems in the church and Id rather someone like you that is clearly strong, intelligent and loves the Lord use their gifts for other issues. I could be wrong and this is an actual issue but I've never heard such extreme positions regarding translations and I assume its a very small minority who hold such views. Thank you for video, have a nice day.
I wish you were right. I wish it were a minor issue. Sadly, it is a major issue in many parts of the United States and in other English speaking parts of the world. There is a considerable King James Only movement in Australia as well. Thanks for watching.
1. From the Britannica website: "Geneva Bible, also called Breeches Bible, English translation of the Bible published in Geneva (New Testament, 1557; Old Testament, 1560) by a colony of Protestant scholars in exile from England who worked under the general direction of Miles Coverdale and John Knox and under the influence of John Calvin." 2. From Dr. Steve Lawson, president and founder of OnePassion Ministries, from the Ligonier Ministries' 2009 National Conference, The Holiness of God containing his address, "The Legacy of John Calvin" given on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of John Calvin's birth: "...Calvin is the man of the last two millennia, that you would have to go all the way back to the days of the biblical writers, to Paul and to John, in order to see one who towered above history and has left such a dominant influence. It is almost impossible to overstate the importance and the legacy of John Calvin." (from the youtube video Steve Lawson: The Legacy of John Calvin) 3. Therefore, - since - A. the Geneva Bible was an English translation created under the influence of John Calvin, - and - B. Dr. Steve Lawson has stated that "...Calvin is the man of the last two millennia..." - then - C. if the Geneva Bible was good enough for John Calvin, then it must be good enough for Dr. Steve Lawson.
If only I was. It's kind of a long running joke of me attempting humor by making variations on what a young Baptist told me many years ago: A seasoned churchgoer who, when hearing about all of the newfangled English translations of the Bible being published, asserted, "Well, if the King James Bible was good enough for St. Paul, then it's good enough for me." The KJV does have the best translation for me of a go to verse that covers many situations and predicaments: "Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes" (Job 42:6)
The Bible, it doesn't matter what version does not save. It is your faith in Jesus and being born again into Christ and true remissions of sins that save you. It is the blood, not the book. thank you for this video.
The more I hear you refer back to people's comments about their strong beliefs in a particular version of the Bible, the more I believe that some of them have made the Bible their idol. They seem to worship it more than they do God.
Thank you Jonathan, We were made to feel guilty if we owned or even read another version of the Bible other than the KJV, The only word that can save us is the word of God Jesus Christ.
@@biblehighlighter the Bible itself cannot save you, it only tells you the one who can, Jesus Christ, do not accuse me of spiritism or humanistic rationalism

You should read the notes from the translators of the KJV. They didn't even believe they were the only good translation. 😂 And the only reason the KJV overtook the Geneva Bible in the way that it did is because of an embargo from the king to make the translation the main Bible in English. So this KJVO crowd are akin to the RCs who say they are the "one true Church" as a hangup from the Roman Empire's state Church - they are the product of an embargo and state interference to make sure their translation went on top. I think it's best we leave state-influenced positions out of our faith.
@@biblehighlighterThe KJV translators knew their work was not perfect. They were right about that. It is even less perfect now. Because the meaning of so many words have changed. That is why God has blessed us with more accurate modern translations. So you really do not have a good argument. Just your pride fantasies and delusions.
Wow! I just came across this video and wow. I've had my run ins with King Jamesers and all I see is a hardness of heart and unbelief with them. A lot of these folks are also split between a Dispensationalists view and replacement theology view, or both. It's a shame that folks are deceived into thinking a bible translation brings salvation and not the the eternal Messiah and God. What these folks don't realize is that all translations have translator bias's, including KJV, and most of them mistranslate, including KJV, many passages within Scripture to suit their own views according to their understanding of the Scriptures.
I read the KJV and other versions, because in the KJV in the book of Acts 23:9, the last sentence is not in the modern translations, only in the KJV and the NKJV. Also in 1 John 5:7, “the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit” are not mentioned. It is only in the KJV and NKJV. I believe people can utilize some modern translations, not all for clarification. Note: The KJV is translated “Holy Ghost” , but in the Greek it is Spirit.
Not to mention seed in 1 Peter 1:23 has nothing to do with Bible translations. It has nothing to do with text at all. Seems like the seed is the Spirit and the word is the good news of Jesus Christ. People see what they want to see 🤷
An important thing to note about David J Stewart is that he is very very unhinged and two-faced. He has old articles in the past where he outright says "I am not a Christian or a member of any religion." And it is not a case of him becoming a Christian after the fact, as these articles were written simultaneously to him saying that he is a Christian. In addtion, a lot of older articles were plagiarized with no credit given to the origibal writers. A lot of his old articles actually aren't officially up anymore, but can still be accessed via Wayback Machine. I cant take the dude seriously at all, and think that he should be avoided. I wouldn't be surprised if his websites have actually been parodies all along.
Thank you, and I am sorry for what you are going through. As far as 1 Peter 1:23, I have always understood the Incorruptible seed is Christ, who is the Word of God as stated in John 1:1. The Bibles we have do not have the power to save only the Gospel which to my knowledge doesn't change with the version you are reading, with exception to way far out fictional translations.
I find this conversation about a translation saving you erronés! Jésus said I am the Way the truth and the life no man comes to the Father but by me. There is a lot more scripture for this stance. If it takes the Bible to save someone, how do you explain the Thief on the Cross? This one instance completely shatters most theologians! How did people get saved that were forbidden to read the Bible? When the whole Gospel was not preached? I love that we want to have a standard, but remember Religion killed Jesus, he always hated Religon. He blasted the Religious leaders of the day for making it hard to follow God! There is tons more I could say, and many doctrines that can be expanded and extrapulated further in my comments. I affirm that the King James Bible is reliable, but not infaillible! The only Words that are infaillible are God’s! The Aramic, Hebrew and Koine Greek are inerrant, but that does not mean all of the Translations by any sect or person is perfect! That is why we are to study, and be led by the Holy Spirit to all the endless gold that is in scripture!
I came out of the Catholic Church so for me when it concerns the Word of God yeah im using the KJV Bible because I'm done with being lied to. Why i threw out my St Joseph edition version. Simply with out diving into a open can of worms of a church that was started 315 later after Apostle Paul.
Cult. Blasphemy. Idolatry. Easy believism lol. Imagine believing you only have to confess Jesus as Lord but not actually follow him as Lord. The collective theological depth of Hyles, Roloff, Hutson and most IFB pastors would be equal to most pre-school sunday school workers.
Romans 10:9-10 9) That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10) For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. What part of this passage makes one who believes it as it written fall into your three categories? If you add to this in any way, it is you who is guilty of the charges you bring against those who understand that salvation is easy enough that a child in Sunday school can understand it. Paul's Gospel is the ONLY Gospel by which men can be saved. You either accept Paul's words or you reject them. Lordship salvation is a damnable heresy that is sending people straight to hell by the multitudes. Supposed Christians who spend a lifetime without the assurance of their salvation. He paid it all!! You gotta get that!
My church is KJVO, I am not. I read the KJV at church but for personal study I read the ESV Gospel Transformation Study Bible. I also will read the NKJV. I really dont understand the controversy really.
Excellent! There is no shortage of churches looking for pastors so you will land on your feet. Apply to the IFCA for status as a pastor. I think there is also an association our there organized around the baptist confession of 1689. I think you would fit right in either of those fellowships. Best wishes.
I would ask those that believe that one can only be saved through the preaching of the Gospel using a KJV this question. From the time the church began on the Day of Pentecost 33 AD, to 1611 when the KJV came into existence, were all those millions of people who believed the Gospel starting from when Peter preached on Pentecost, to Paul, who preached to both Jews and Gentiles, to Ignatius of Antioch, Polycarp, Justin Martyr, Augustine, Martin Luther, John Bunyan, John Knox, and thousands of other men of God who faithfully preached the Gospel, and through whom God brought millions into the Kingdom, not one of them used a KJV. Were all those millions deceived and were they lost because they didn't hear the Gospel preached through using an Elizabethan English translation of the word of God? Absolutely not! They were saved because they believed and received Jesus Christ through the Gospel by the convicting power of the Holy Spirit, and wonder of wonders, all before the KJV even existed!

Did the English language even exist when St. Peter was alive? Some form of Germanic of sure but Stuart period English? Also the church has a history of keeping the Bible in an archaic language only back then it was Latin.
Remind them of these things, and charge them before God not to quarrel about words, which does no good, but only ruins the hearers. Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth. But avoid irreverent babble, for it will lead people into more and more ungodliness, and their talk will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus, who have swerved from the truth, saying that the resurrection has already happened. They are upsetting the faith of some. But God's firm foundation stands, bearing this seal: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of the Lord depart from iniquity.” Now in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver but also of wood and clay, some for honorable use, some for dishonorable. Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work. So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. Have nothing to do with foolish, ignorant controversies; you know that they breed quarrels. And the Lord's servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth, and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will.
I am still praying for you, pastor! And I don't want to have any more arguments. I want to state that I've never heard an IFB pastor say you can only be saved by the KJV and that anything else means you're not saved. That seems like a big hole for any pastor to dig for themselves. I think pastors should teach their congregation which verses are missing in the other versions and the history of each translation so they have good information to base their decisions on. Collins Dictionary says, "A fallacy is an idea which many people believe to be true, but which is in fact false because it is based on incorrect information or reasoning." I think it's also a logical fallacy to say that people who preach from or prefer the KJV are somehow hypocrites. I know you didn't say that. I'm just making a point that there are fallacies on both sides of this debate. Anyway, hope soon you find out where God wants you to go next. God bless!

Pastor Burris, just thought that there is a middle ground between beating up on KJV-only people and giving up on the KJV altogether. 11:32 Paul Washer literally went on record to state he himself isn't sure of his salvation John MacArthur teaches Lordship Salvation including the UNBIBLICAL phrase turn from sin which is NOWHERE to be found in the Bible Proving those men teach another gospel which obviously is Calvinism
I am familiar with Washer’s statement and you took it out of context. You did the same with your mischaracterization of MacArthur’s view of salvation. He rejects easy-believism. When Christ saves a person, He establishes Himself as Lord. A person who doesn’t honor Christ as Lord has not been saved. He changes those that He saves. That is not a works salvation. That is a changing of the mind according to Jeremiah 8:6.
This may be slightly off-topic, and may be out of line, but when KJVOs refer to the “Authorized Version,” are they thinking that God, not King James, authorized it?
Thank you for your videos. I run into these KJV onlyists you speak of on a regular basis on many publishing advertisement posts on Facebook. The list of mythologies are epic. Then when you point out their errors, they go juvenile attack mode on you. One example is a guy who said no one can answer his four questions. I cannot remember the 4 questions but I do remember two of them. One was to show him an error in the KJV. I did in Acts 5:30. Second he said can you correct it? I said the NKJV did correct it. Of course he went off and said I was wrong and the KJV wasn't wrong. Finally after responding to his outrageous and of course sarcastic and belittling comments, he moved on. King James Version Acts 5:30 "The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree." New King James Version Acts 5:30 "The God of our fathers raised up Jesus whom you murdered by hanging on a tree."
The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders, and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. Therefore God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false, in order that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness. But we ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers beloved by the Lord, because God chose you as the firstfruits to be saved, through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth. To this he called you through our gospel, so that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the traditions that you were taught by us, either by our spoken word or by our letter. Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word.
Hmm. Don't have to ask, what do you really think! ............ I didn't know the history of KJV-only. Glad to learn it. To see that KJV-only was not inherent in fundamentalism, but was added to it. And recently, at that. ............ The KJV has many excellent qualities, and, like any other good translation, defends itself. For example, why would any other translation not use the KJV for Psalm 23? A crown jewel of all English literature generally, and of Bible translations in particular. ............ May the Lord appoint you to serving Him as He has called you; and the Holy Spirit guides, equips and empowers you. Keep remembering, Panta isxuo, en tw endunamounti me! --Philippians 4:13 :--}> P.S. Have you considered doing a video on the Prefaces of several major translations, including the KJV. To compare what the translators themselves believed, AND hoped to achieve.
This unfortunately reminds me of Muslims' cultish and illogical belief that God was not able to preserve the Torah and the Injil, but that He can and will preserve the Quran.
Who authorized it? was it God or a english king? I'd argue that most KJV ONLY people have to have the kjv to sell their beliefs..... I can use any bible to affirm mine.... I lost people over this debate...I was told if I didn't condemn the others I was lost... i was out
You can be saved just by hearing the gospel presented correctly without a Bible. I do think the KJV is the best translation. Other versions to lessen the deity of Christ. There are saved people that are saved in churches that are not fundamentalists. People like Peter Ruckman do show significant differences in the KJV 1611 and modern Bible translations. If you look at the people that translated the modern translation, they are not even Christian. I guess you can say that the KJV is my preference and I choose to fellowship with like minded believers.
How many non-Christians were involved in producing the NKJV? The NASB and LSB? The CSB? Maybe you can take issue with the RSV and NRSV having a Jewish translator involved, but it's simply not true for the majority of popular translations.
@@MAMoreno That is a great question. How many non-Christians are part of the decision making on the Critical Text? How many people currently working on the Critical Text believe the originals were inspired?
What is KJV onlyism? It is many things; let's take a look at a few of them. What should be obvious is that KJV onlyism is idolatry. The Word of God made flesh is Jesus Christ and as a member of the godhead He is incorruptible and God is the only incorruptible seed that ever existed. No book is incorruptible, you can corrupt a book simply by how you read it. By way of the following example we can see the evidence for this. KJV onlyists fail to understand the scriptures by thinking the scriptures are incorruptible. The Israelites had the oracles of God and they corrupted them, they added to and took away, they didn't understand, they refused to obey and at the appointed time almost to a man the ministry was unable to recognize the Chosen One when He appeared. The scriptures had failed because the Spirit was rejected. You search the scriptures for in them you think you have eternal life; and it is those scriptures which speak of Him, the scriptures present Jesus Christ, the scriptures do not present the scriptures. Who can present a scripture in proper context where we are told that God will send us a book that will lead us into all truth and righteousness? What are we told God will send to lead us into all truth? The Spirit of truth was sent to lead us, not a book. When Stephen was stoned was he full of a book? No my friends, he was full of the Spirit. What book told Saul that he was persecuting Jesus? No book was involved. What book told Ananias to find Paul and restore his sight? What book told Simon Bar-Jonah that Jesus was the Son of God? Again no book was read, it came from God in heaven. What book told Paul to go to the Gentiles? What book told Noah to build an ark? What book told Daniel the meaning of the king's dream? No book told Joshua there was sin in the camp and God did not say the book will not be with you as long as sin is in camp, he said I will not be with you. Remember Moses made a bronze serpent for the people to look upon and be delivered from death by snake bite. Much later Hezekiah broke it in pieces to end the idolatrous worship of that object. Eternal life is not found in the scriptures; it can only be found in Jesus Christ. Stop worshipping a book and get your focus on God, praying and walking in the Spirit. You must have a personal relationship with God. You can know the KJV inside out, backwards and sideways, and still miss the mark my friends. We can look to 1 Corinthians to see believers were separated by this group following one prefered leader and that group following another prefered leader. The question was posed; "is Christ divided?" Think of what you were when you were called. Consider what God thinks of causing divisions amongst His people, of what He thinks of those who are high-minded. What does He think of humility? What are His thoughts about the peacemakers? Shalom
You can't have a perfect Bible if it's not word perfect. If you study the word of God, EVERY Word matters. This whole idea that God's Word is only word perfect in the originals is an attack on the person and character of God. The fact is, there ARE textual differences between the KJV and every single other bible. Every other bible adds and removes from the Word of God. There are plenty of KJV only people who are screwed up doctinally, but if you read modern versions you WILL be corrupted, that's a promise. God is not the author of confusion. Hundreds of different Bible versions is NOT from God. The idea that you can have so mamy different Bibles and claim they say the same thing is simply intellectually dishonest and a lie from the pit of hell. The Word of God isn't like Burger King "have it your way". Every single bible other than the King James WILL pervert the gospel, which is the single most important thing in the Bible. It's how you get saved.
@pastorburris to your claim that they don't all say the same, I would simply say "prove it". Standardization of spelling is not changing the Bible. Correcting printing errors is not changing the Bible. You guys that accept modern Bibles certainly have an interesting standard you hold to. There are so many claims about how the King James Bible has changed since 1611. Tell me, how many times has a Bible like the NIV been revised and added and removed words and verses and sentences since it was published in 1978? I think it's incredibly dishonest to say something like "which KJV do I prefer" as if it makes a difference. When in reality, I could ask the same question about a bible like the NIV that has added and removed whole verses of the Bible, multiple times, in multiple revisions. In Psalm 12:6 we're told "the words of the Lord are pure words, as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times." Here we see a purification process. In the process of time we have seen the King James Bible standardized and purified. There are people who have perfect word and letter counts of the King James Bible who will KNOW if anyone tries to change the King James Bible as we have it today. I'll add also. I don't believe the King James Bible is perfect by sight. I believe it by faith because I believe in who the God of the Bible is. HE is perfect. God Himself calls Jesus Christ the Word in John 1. God Himself says in Psalm 138:2 "thou hast magnified they WORD above all thy name". The way God reveres his Word in the scriptures tells me how much He values His Word. The very notion that God Himself would authorize and permit the creation of hundreds of different Bibles all claiming to be His infallible Word, is an attack on the very character of God.
@pastorburris if you start with the premise that God's Word IS perfect and you go LOOK for that perfect word, the only book you're left with is the King James Bible. The King James Bible ALONE stands out in a sea of Bibles. I didn't start out believing the King James Bible was THE Word of God. Before I came to the King James Bible I first came to the conviction that God's Word is perfect because GOD is perfect. I simply looked for the perfect Bible and it is the King James.
James 4:11 Speak not evil one of another, brethern. He that speaketh evil of his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge.
#1 How do you explain the statistical and mathematical proofs that the verse divisions are divinely inspired (Truth is Christ: RUclips)? The verse divisions are the only fully inspired aspects of many modern lesser translations. #2 Why did you ridicule the fact that God continually refines His word "like silver"? The King James Bible (KJB not KJV) is the authorized Bible. #3 Why do you ignore the fact that God wrote his Word with his own finger several times on earthly material? Do you doubt after doing that he would fail with the KJB? #4 Do I understand you that we non-Greek and Hebrew speakers must get someone like you to read several HUNDRED manuscripts and then after laboring for a few MONTHS will tell us what the Word says? I prefer the Holy Spirit.
1. I have refuted him personally and he has admitted that his work is farcical. 2. God’s word doesn’t need refining. It was pure when God breathed it. 3. This point is meaningless and has nothing to do with textual criticism or any translation. 4. No. You can use one of several faithful translations where godly Christians have already don’t that work. My dear friend, these are not healthy arguments and they are certainly not scholarly. I have an entire playlist dealing with these things you bring up. If you wish to learn, watch them.
Evangelist shows a lost sinner Romans 3 in his Bible. Sinner asks, " Does your bible have errors?" Evangelist says, "Yes; it does have errors." Lost sinner, "If you can't say the Bible your showing me is truth, why are you asking me to believe it is?" Evangelist, "Well, just believe its true, even though I don't believe it.
Did they kick you out after all those heretics questions??? 😂. Some KJVIFB can't handle that much logical thinking

I stick with the KJV because of personal preference. One of my great passions is classic literature. I adore the poetry of the KJV. I do occasionally read other translations too. God bless.
There is no need to change.
The first comment had me face-palming. If only the 1611 KJV can save, the commenter had better possess it instead of the more common 1769 edition.
1611 KJV is a tough position to hold while holding up an Oxford Old Scofield...
If the KJV saves, no one was saved prior to 1611.

May God continue to bless you brother.
Regarding the "Old King James Only" people:
Here's the thing...
My Conclusion:
The Old King James ONLY Cult is just that...
Very good! But there are over 6000 languages spoken on the planet not 700.
Thank you for your video and your stance. I came to faith through a KJV only ministry and this was a stance I held for about 14 years of my life before seeing the gross errors of this movement. This needs to be exposed for what it is.
What were the gross errors if you don’t mind me asking?
I suspect that it may have something to do with the pride evident in some KJVO circles. There is no grace extended to those who truly are seeking but prefer translation that’s easier to read. Sometimes they also gloss over mistranslations in the KJV also.
I would really like you are out Pastor, but some people in my church will never consider you as such, for your open minded views. God Bless you brother and keep going with this
The King James Version wasn't truly even a new translation when it came out. It's heavily based on William Tyndale's translation of the Bible.
The strain of KJV Onlyism discussed at the beginning of the video is at best a different gospel and at worst outright blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.
I personally heard Dr.Ruckman say he did not hold to the view that you can't be saved by anything other than the KJV. So this is even more far out there than he was.
exactly, this man is speaking LIES
It is called idolatry. Groups have made the KJV an idol. And it has to be in English! Can there ever be a Spanish KJV? Italian KJV?
Burris has come unhinged after being fired, it's seems he has had this view for awhile, maybe he has been trying to get this church away from the KJB for years and it didn't work.

@@michaelshannon6558 this is correct. 👍
Keep preaching truth and exposing errors. God bless.
"things that are different are not the same." and "if you don't have a word-perfect Bible then you don't have a Bible at all"
enjoying this series.
:--}>
That video is definitely coming.
I seem to recall some of these KJV only people claiming those who don't know English have to learn English so they can read the KJV before they can be saved.
Dr. Sam Gipp is a great example of one who believes this. He says it very early in this video:
ruclips.net/video/YH5g0gXW0FI/видео.htmlsi=1F263VbQkHWmJAFr
Sounds like fundamentalist islam. You can't read the quran in english - it's only illuminating in arabic.
Keep making these videos bro.
"How shall men meditate in that which they cannot understand?"
Thank you for these videos Pastor Burris.
Thank you for this video brother in Christ

Amen brother. The KKV only people are legalists in the spirit of the Pharisees. I love the KJV. I read it and it was my first Bible when I was a child, but do not believe it is the only translation accepted by God.
oh don't ever say that...... I agree but man you will get hit in the head over that comment....
God bless brother. Keep GOING ON.
No postcard can compare to a independent Baptist church in a rear view mirror
Thank you Pastor Burris for your concise argument on this subject. I came out of a fundamentalist church that only believed the KJB translation was the only inspired and correct version, all others were a perversion. I fully disagree and was one of the reasons I left that movement. I enjoy and use the ESV, LSB, NASB, and other good, accurate modern translations to study God’s word. I find the other view to be very limited and bias.
Great explanation..Thank you!

2. From Dr. Steve Lawson, president and founder of OnePassion Ministries, from the Ligonier Ministries' 2009 National Conference, The Holiness of God containing his address, "The Legacy of John Calvin" given on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of John Calvin's birth:
"...Calvin is the man of the last two millennia, that you would have to go all the way back to the days of the biblical writers, to Paul and to John, in order to see one who towered above history and has left such a dominant influence. It is almost impossible to overstate the importance and the legacy of John Calvin." (from the youtube video Steve Lawson: The Legacy of John Calvin)
3. Therefore,
- since -
A. the Geneva Bible was an English translation created under the influence of John Calvin,
- and -
B. Dr. Steve Lawson has stated that "...Calvin is the man of the last two millennia..."
- then -
C. if the Geneva Bible was good enough for John Calvin, then it must be good enough for Dr.
Paul, then it's good enough for me."
The KJV does have the best translation for me of a go to verse that covers many situations and predicaments: "Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes" (Job 42:6)
The Bible, it doesn't matter what version does not save. It is your faith in Jesus and being born again into Christ and true remissions of sins that save you. It is the blood, not the book. thank you for this video.
I was saved reading the corrupt JW bible. How? The Helper Gods Spirit is what teaches us. And if a rock needs to cry out for us it will
*who
But amen to that!
WoW! That's great bro.
@@biblehighlighter and let me say this, all the knowledge in the Bible will do yo no good if you are lost and going to hell, the key message is That God sent his precious only begotten Son to die on a cross and to shed his precious blood for sinners like me and others so that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life, the apostle Paul said he would know nothing but Jesus Christ and him crucified, So many people like to argue over the Bible which does nothing but to cause strife
The New American Standard Bible is the only uncorruptible English version. If you use anything else you’re not saved. Now, doesn’t that sound stupid?
You should read the notes from the translators of the KJV. They didn't even believe they were the only good translation. 😂
And the only reason the KJV overtook the Geneva Bible in the way that it did is because of an embargo from the king to make the translation the main Bible in English.
I prefer the NRSV myself.
But TBH, it doesn't matter which version too much. Just enjoy the book for what it is.
I ask our Lord for you and your house. I agree with you.
Thank you! I'm fighting that very same hornets nest myself.
Oh no. I am so sorry to hear you are dealing with similar stuff. I pray our Lord gives you wisdom and strength for the fight.
Amen, Brother.
Thank you for watching.
Not to mention seed in 1 Peter 1:23 has nothing to do with Bible translations. It has nothing to do with text at all. Seems like the seed is the Spirit and the word is the good news of Jesus Christ. People see what they want to see 🤷
Well said.
Well done!
"eye-poppingly hideous website"!!!! LOL. Too true! I love your understated humor, brother.
This guy is a calvinist?
🙋♂️
Your 'friend" believes in a KJB 1611 that he cannot even read! Has he even seen a 1611?
I have one.
Cult. Blasphemy. Idolatry.
Easy believism lol. Imagine believing you only have to confess Jesus as Lord but not actually follow him as Lord. The collective theological depth of Hyles, Roloff, Hutson and most IFB pastors would be equal to most pre-school sunday school workers.
Romans 10:9-10
9) That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Pastor Burris, is there a way I can talk to you directly?
You can reach out to me on Facebook Messenger or Twitter DM. My email is also in the description of each video.
My church is KJVO, I am not. I read the KJV at church but for personal study I read the ESV Gospel Transformation Study Bible. I also will read the NKJV.
I really dont understand the controversy really.
They should have keep you as the pastor and fired the deacons
@markwardonwords perhaps you and Pastor Burris could do your next Q&A!
So... A book has the powere to save people from hell. 2:03 you know thats idolotry.
Its funny to see you making a video responding to comments with how happy you are to block them on other videos.
I don’t block comments. If I remember correctly, you accused me of deleting comments on my “Dear Angry Atheist” video. But your comment and many others were actually held for review by RUclips. Maybe if you were less rude, RUclips wouldn’t think your comment needed to be filtered. 😉

Actually, _EVERY_ comment on that video gets held in review, it has nothing to do with how rude any are... I've checked/tested.

I also believe He can save one without that person reading directly from His word..
1:52 - Oh well, according to this questioners' logic and reasoning, I guess nobody got saved before 1611.
you should have a conversation with James White.
I am a fan. We have corresponded a little on Twitter. I look forward to meeting him one day.
Did the English language even exist when St. Peter was alive? Some form of Germanic of sure but Stuart period English? Also the church has a history of keeping the Bible in an archaic language only back then it was Latin.
If you believe the KJV saves you you’re not saved. Jesus and his finished work on Calvary saves you.
Amen bro.!
But God's firm foundation stands, bearing this seal: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of the Lord depart from iniquity.”
Now in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver but also of wood and clay, some for honorable use, some for dishonorable.
God bless!
@@ChurchPhone1769 you sound like joke as well, how you know he is lieing?

And we should follow (Ephesians 4:3) "Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace." God bless you!
@@ChurchPhone1769 Let's just focus on what the Bible says about praying for one another. (James 5:16) Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
Pastor Burris, just thought that there is a middle ground between beating up on KJV-only people and giving up on the KJV altogether. I don't think Doug Wilson is a Baptist but his response in this video really makes a lot of sense as to why he prefers to preach from the KJV. ruclips.net/video/2WK57RJiZe0/видео.html&ab_channel=CanonPress perhaps when you make a video against the KJV take a moment to also speak well of it. I don't think you want to fuel anti-Christian views and doing this small adjustment in your videos would really help. Thank you and God bless.
@@bryanstark324, I trust you are well aware that I still preach out of the KJV. I didn’t abandon it. And in this video, I spoke highly of the KJV and stated it was only the KJVO that I was addressing.
11:32 Paul Washer literally went on record to state he himself isn't sure of his salvation
John MacArthur teaches Lordship Salvation including the UNBIBLICAL phrase turn from sin which is NOWHERE to be found in the Bible
Proving those men teach another gospel which obviously is Calvinism
I am familiar with Washer’s statement and you took it out of context. You did the same with your mischaracterization of MacArthur’s view of salvation. He rejects easy-believism. When Christ saves a person, He establishes Himself as Lord. A person who doesn’t honor Christ as Lord has not been saved. He changes those that He saves. That is not a works salvation. That is a changing of the mind according to Jeremiah 8:6.
This may be slightly off-topic, and may be out of line, but when KJVOs refer to the “Authorized Version,” are they thinking that God, not King James, authorized it?
According to my experience, yes.
King James Version Acts 5:30 "The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree."
New King James Version Acts 5:30 "The God of our fathers raised up Jesus whom you murdered by hanging on a tree."
1 John 5:21
Hmm.

The KJV has many excellent qualities, and, like any other good translation, defends itself.
For example, why would any other translation not use the KJV for Psalm 23? A crown jewel of all English literature generally, and of Bible translations in particular.

I lost people over this debate...I was told if I didn't condemn the others I was lost... i was out
Agreed
Translations do not save anyone. Like the Law, they point out our sin and point us to Jesus. ONLY JESUS CHRIST SAVES.

@@samlawrence2695 I take it you're a baby-immersing Orthodox instead? ;)
Which KJV is perfect? They don’t all say the same. They contradict one another. They cannot all be perfect. Which one do you say is perfect and why?
In Psalm 12:6 we're told "the words of the Lord are pure words, as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times."
Here we see a purification process.
Sinner asks, " Does your bible have errors?" Evangelist says, "Yes; it does have errors."
