- Today, we Will Show Might Of BOTH Celestus And Cornucopia in One Control Golgari, using lifegain to buffer Aggro decks and forcing them into unfavourable trades - while also having uncounterable (and infinite) plays against Control decks!

I'm going to miss Sorin very much. Next to Ob Nixilis, he's one of my favorite planeswalkers. Every loyalty ability gives you so much value. Fingers crossed that they both get reprints in future sets. Brilliant plays in all games with Deadly Cover-up and Outrageous Robbery!

Sorin is one of the reasons I really wanted to go without rotation-proof build in this one, didn't realize how much I used Sorin in those decks. I think the fact that he is amazing in BOTH contol and aggro matchups, made it a really powerful card, no need to draw "right card for the matchup". Hope we see Sorin more, one of coolest planeswalkers out there (Still remember playing the orzhov one that reanimated, from years back).

I built a Golgari Control deck as well. Cornucopia is so good! I’ve also really enjoyed Pillage the Bog. I also play Insatiable Avarice so with that and Pillage, it feels like a toolbox being able to find whatever answers you need. Nice brew Sloth! 🔥
Indeed, Cornucopia with Pillage the Bog is surprisingly good synergy, especially as it ramps you into more mana (so often we can tutor+make play on same turn). I should probably use Avarice more here, will keep in mind for next golgari deck! Very glad you enjoyed it :)
@@SlothMtg Yeah Avarice pairs nicely with Cornucopia too since you’re gaining so much life you’re not worried about paying 3.

i just built golgari with cornucopia and man i gotta tell you sloth its nuts..... glissa and vraska at 3 mana with honest rustien. so much removal with so much lifegain and every creature has to be answered. i think golgari will be the new hotness after rotations or possibly jund

Fun deck! What do you think of Collector's Vault as Celestus replacement once rotation happens?
Well, it's a cool card, but it has no lifegain and cycling is much harder due to mana cost attached - it also doesn't ramp instantly. I think Cornucopia is way closer (but you need green), for vault it's good to use ramp its in some way to make it superior choice (like robberies/shigeki/breach). Card is cool, but celestus was insanely great card with lifegain+card value+ramp - all in one, no card atm does all those things at the same time, unfortunately.

I wonder if this strat could make meathook more competqtive if older formats. It's a lot of incidental life gain to offset how slow rhey are.
Cornucopia and robbery look like they'll be in pretty sweet spots after rotation. Meanwhile I'm debating trying to make reanimator work in standard even though RIP is currently legal lol
Yep, will be definitely using a lot of cornucopias in the future :) Reanimator - I think reenact the case decks are best overall, probably together with azorius rakdos joins up reanimator (but this one is easy to interrupt)
PS. I think I never seen single RIP used since it was reprinted for standard 🤷♂️

@@SlothMtg Ever since the lands deck got popular after the pro tour, it's in every BO3 sideboard that plays white. I mainly play BO3 with domain, and basically have to run RIP in my side as well, otherwise I auto lose to the lands deck or any style of reanimators that I come across. I made a reenact deck when it was first hot, but I didn't like how clunky it felt. The brew I'm currently trying involves lichknight's conquest, since I think there's a future with that, stuff to sac to it, and the red calamity horse.

Tbh I don't usually go for this archetype recently, I think most viewers already are familiar with the build (not sure if much has changed). In the end it's all about what majority prefers, but I have some other cool ideas for next days - so I think we probably skip this one.
Unless there will be some massive likes on this comment - then I'll reconsider🤍🦥
PS. Unfortunately white control has huge weakness, Jace's Mill, which is probably the reason why deck is so rare nowadays
The Orzhov opponent without Braids or Investigator they don't have any good topdecks and you're gaining too much life for them to chip you down with small creatures.
