      How do you judge how long of a leader to use? Also is the goal to have the beads dragging the bottom or suspended just above?

  • @shawnbowen6833

    It may seem like a lot but one thing I add to my bobber set up is a medium size corkie right above the bobber. So bobber stop, 2 beads like you do, then corkie then bobber, bead and bobber stop below that. The corkie lets me know if anything is tangled up or not sitting right. Sometimes my bobber is straight up and down like its fine but the corkie is sitting off to the side of the top of the bobber and that tells me my line wrapped or twisted during the cast. When everything is fishing right the corkie will sit directly on top of the bobber. Plus if you happen to be combat fishing itll help you distinguish your bobber from everyone else's. Oh and make it a bright corkie that contrasts your bobber color. Orange top bobber, use a chartreuse corkie. chartreuse bobber use a orange corkie. One color is usually easier to see depending on the light or glare so it adds a visual aid in that respect too.

    If I run a bead I will generally match the inline weight to the float about the only time that I won't do that is running more than one split shot on the leader, with a jig or using Bait weights and I always snell the hooks to add yarn in bigger off colored water.

    Nice video. Most double bead videos show the beads more spaced apart and each bead with its own hook. This is a cool setup when the regs only allow one hook. But do you have a decent hooking percentage on fish biting the top bead? It seems kind of far from the hook. Thanks

    Anytime a fish gets me in a log or brush and I know I’m running too light of leader to pull them through I always hit free spool and let them swim out. Not much you can do about the rocks 😂 maybe wade out and keep the rod tip as high as possible.

    Braided line is an absolute must with a float rod. It floats and allows you to mend line easily for a more natural presentation.

    The best smile ever... :) Great job and patience getting the second fish out of that snag (although it broke the line later anyway). Question?! So you really float beads? I've only either drifted or bobberdogged beads. I thought they needed to roll on the bottom. So you fish your beads mid-water or do you adjust the leader to drag the bottom anyway? I think they are semi-buoyant so if you float fish them, they would be at mid-depth regardless of the leader length anyway. I've never tried that before. Anyway, I was thinking how cool it would it be to run into you randomly on a river one of these days. :)

    • @BadAshOutdoors
      @BadAshOutdoors  2 года назад +1

      Thanks, Hide! I do float beads sometimes! Rolling on the bottom is good but if you have really rocky or bouldery areas its nice to float them across! I have a feeling the run in will happen!

    That's what I'm talking about, don't you love that Revo rocket reel it picks that line up quick I love high speed reels when bobber fishing, and when those steelhead or salmon rush you that reel will keep up so the line don't go slack and give the fish a chance to get that hook loose.
