Fantastic video. Also massive respect to Carl Cox as I do not believe he gets the recognition for all his backing and passion he has and gives to bike racing/riders🏍🏍🎶 Any chance of you and Carl doing a RUclips video together?
Priceless! This is what RUclips is for. Let us know when you get to run that, I for one would travel to see and, more importantly, hear that going full chat. GS1000 was my first dream superbike back in the 70s. Posters on the wall and everything.
Really funny how Michael manages to do his Q&A sessions without any bad language considering his mates love a bit of language. RUclips certainly provides us with some gems 😂
Beautiful machine, it's pretty these old school machines, a not easy awakening, big sweats, but it started! I own a 1100 gsxr from 1988, and if it hasn't turned for a long time, I take my time with it, disassemble the candles, a dose of magic product in the cylinders, bleed carburetors, and expose the sun to chase away the ambient humidity. Gradually she coughs a little, and she starts again without suffering! 😜 Good luck, they are superb! Phil.
That moment when it started and everyone's grin said it all, it just sounds like an animal waiting to rip you to pieces... "I'm allright" gasping for air said by everyone of us bump starters 😂
Bob's your uncle? :D We met back in 2019 Michael at PI for the IC, when you rode for Team NZ under Cox. I provided you with a bunch of pics of you and the team racing. I was a guest of the NZ team doing some photos and just hangin with the Kiwis. I've built a couple of street legal XR69ish tributes .... you can see one of them over on my channel. Glad to see this one coming back to life, the framework is certainly a master class in brazing.
Awesome to see a video with you "out in the field"....it's hilarious when you are pushing the bike off camera....all I saw was a blue shipping container with a bunch of huffing and puffing audio in the backround 🤣
That was brilliant. . Well done 👍 Can you bring that to the Lord of Lydden event next month please . . Be great to hear it roaring around that circuit. . 😁🤣
Laughing my ass off when you brought in the second starter. The first one looked like a toy, compared to this one😂 Great bike. Would love to see more of it. Cheers!
Like a modern day reboot of last of the summer wine In tonight's episode three old men get to relive their childhood dreams but first have to start the troublesome beast .........
Hi Michael, Great vid. I had several GS 750's and 1000's in the early 80's. Is that engine different from the stock rd, as cam covers and head look v diff?
Real pity the Island Classic is no more, especially the International Challenge. I live on Phillip Island, ( I flag marshal there about 50 days a year), & it was my favorite event, even more enjoyable than MotoGP & World Supers. I remember you and that bike Neevesy. Hope you can find other events you can go to with that bike.
I’m not being rude here but surely a bike and gears setup for speed wouldn’t bump start in 3rd gear or am I wrong? I not seen full video yet and I’m no expert. What a lovely looking Suzuki #zukenation 😂
Sounded like she runs but find out which cylinder is misfiring. Plug, compression test, and then remove the main jet and verify intermediate jet is clean and then fire her up again. Sounds like it ran on 3 cylinders and the two at the end.
The ranks slowly thin out at the top. But don't worry, this is the entropy that affects us all. Old racing motorcycles become classics, old racing motorcycle drivers become bald. 😊
Beautiful bike, but that is not a GS1000 engine. I'd guess it's a bandit or GSXR converted to wire clutch. Still a cool bike. I sounds to my untuned ears like it's running on three cylinders, at least on part throttle.
Fantastic video.

Brilliant. I’ll let everyone know when we finally get it out on track 😊👍
This is my new favourite soap opera
That's a damn good looking bike. Far better than all new bikes of today!
Really funny how Michael manages to do his Q&A sessions without any bad language considering his mates love a bit of language. RUclips certainly provides us with some gems 😂
Cheers matey 👍
Good to see uncensored fair dinkum footage 👍
Absolutely LOVE this. What a beautiful machine. Grinning all the way through
So glad it wasn’t sized well done guys for the pleasure of hearing it start up 👏👏👏👏.
Love it when it fires and you get off the bike the first time...just like a kid...awesome mate
We were genuinely relieved 😄

Mans machine that no rider aids grab the bull by the horns bike looks beautiful thanks for vid Mike keep erm coming
Wow! What a beast. I always enjoy these. Michael Neeves kind of reminds me of Roy Kent. Especially in the last video. Well done. Best!
Thats a stunning bike , proper growls to , well done for getting it back together and firing her up !
Of course proper growls
It has a custom titanium Racefit Growler exhaust.
love footage like this!
its good to see the enthusiasm on his face once it starts :)
That moment when it started and everyone's grin said it all, it just sounds like an animal waiting to rip you to pieces...
"I'm allright" gasping for air said by everyone of us bump starters 😂
Exactly 😄
Lots of old man noises in this video, which is justified because we are all getting older! :-) Bike looks and sounds lovely.
That feeling of jumpstarting an old bike and the engine is starting to come back to life is amazing...
Work of art...👍👍.....still looks bent 2:52
More of this raw old beasty Mr Neeves 👍 ....it's got electronics, well an ignition system and rev counter 🙂
Sweet! Get those carbs cleaned and synced and you have winner!
Sounds amazing with custom titanium Racefit exhaust.
If anyone is wondering, it is that Rupert Paul from the good old days at PB.
Tommy at Motoliner sorted me out too, top bloke!
...increible maquina, casi salto de emociin cuando arranco...jjaja; tremenda vuestra ilusión. Gas
Brilliant job guys, keep up the great content Neevesy.
Carl Cox. The old master! Tech and House music master!
Great job, if you are testing that anywhere perhaps put a post up. I would love to see and hear that on track.

Not staged, not sanitised, it’s just real and that’s why we watch ❤
clutch plates stuck together after being in storage so long? couple good hard race starts will fix that right up
I rode one around Thruxton too many years ago, it was an experience 😲🤟
Love the Kehein CR Racing carbs. I have them on my 84 GPz 810!🤩🇺🇸👍
Not going to lie, I peed myself a bit when fired up. What a fantastically aggressive sounding machine. Cheers.
Paul
Ha, brilliant 😄

Thanks mate 😊👍
Great emotions! Awesome bike!
Thank you 😊
What a sound! had my hairs standing up!
@neevseybikes Where/would you recommend in UK for track day training. Saw a couple of schools have closed due to covid.
Sounds awesome. Think struggling to start it as been sat for ages by the sounds of it and the clutch plates were stuck
That was brilliant. . Well done 👍
Can you bring that to the Lord of Lydden event next month please . . Be great to hear it roaring around that circuit. . 😁🤣
Amazing video. Excellent content. Thanks 🙏
Thank you 😊👍
@@neevesybikes blooming welcome

Top g 🏁
Wasn't the engine checked to see if it turned over ok, during the rebuild?

Nora Batty was just out of shot…
Savage!
Love Bobs jump of Joy.
He’s a legend!
You boys are awesome keep it up
I sold a 82 Rd250LC to Carl via his friend Gavin around 2010 when i lived in Christchurch. Ask him if he still has it & if he wants to sell it back!
Angry & lovely at the same time 😍
Fantastic....I used to have a "Bob", to fix and fettle my bikes, but the selfish git had a stroke. Everybody needs a Bob.
Everyone does need a Bob. 😄
Sounds beautiful 😊
Hi Michael, Great vid. I had several GS 750's and 1000's in the early 80's. Is that engine different from the stock rd, as cam covers and head look v diff?
Looks like,e a gsx1150 motor.
yeah definitely not a 1000
@@robertmaitland09
So I took it to bits and put it back together again 😅
Classic abilities most of us can only dream of ❤
Ahhh the Racefit exhaust! My favorite brand of loudness lol
I got it on my R6, nothing beats Racefit in sound, looks, welds, lightness and quality.
Ripper.....it lives! It doesn't sound too happy though!
It’s a rough old thing!

A bit of dyno time and this will sound really crisp. Last time I heard a GS engine sound this mean was at Long Marston!

Dymag wheels, nice touch👌

Exhilarated boys beast a recalcitrant animal back into life
Fantastic to watch
Commentary not needed, your faces say it all 😊
Sounds like a bag of old nails😮 Hope you get the carbs done and it runs like a dream😊
That’s old bikes for you. It’s no GSX-R100…unfortunately 😃
Great job boys.
3:12 That roller starter is VERY tall in the rear! You need to be an NBA basketball player to use it =) . Bike is AMAZING......................
Who farted at 7:24?
That's a proper bike, that is.
what a sound that´s not like today´s vacuum cleaners
Sounded like she runs but find out which cylinder is misfiring. Plug, compression test, and then remove the main jet and verify intermediate jet is clean and then fire her up again. Sounds like it ran on 3 cylinders and the two at the end.
WHAT MOTOR IS IN IT? BANDIT? CAN YOU TELL US THE BUILD??
Faith in internet restored. Brilliant.
I thank you!
Absolutely beautiful bike

Another video request for this beast ❤
Interesting that the original XR69 has a GS1000 engine but that looks like a GSX1150EFE.
Just what I thought.
Absolutely amazing, and sounds very angry. How much is the bike worth?
I reckon £20k-£30k…
Wow. Its a lovely bike. Great vids Neevesy, I particularly like the Q&A sessions. Keep em coming.@@neevesybikes
That’s a proper racer 😊
A scary one at that!
More of this content please! Very enjoyable.
Old race bikes like old racers need to be exercised regularly.
Exactly!
Not GS1000 motor.....EFE I would say....16 valver.....but what a bike.
I has an XR75 when I was a kid
Sounds like it’s only running on 3
Phew.....Nice!
Sounds brutal 😘
Suzukis and carbs.... pita... but... at least she's alive and LOUD
Would you not have had a look in the engine first if you thought there was gravel in it?
It’s got a 16valve head , ain’t no gs1000 ?
Fantastic. 🎉
Hello,
well done,
Thank you 😊
Sounds mean !
Beautiful bike, but that is not a GS1000 engine. I'd guess it's a bandit or GSXR converted to wire clutch. Still a cool bike. I sounds to my untuned ears like it's running on three cylinders, at least on part throttle.
Gsx1150 engine.
Nice .👍👌
That lad nearly swears as much as I!
Awesome
awesome
Clutch plates stuck from sitting so long.
cool man.
What ya scared of ,just turn the t.c up and put anti wheelie on 5 😂. That's what you call a man's bike. Excellent!
Exactly!
Where can I get a Bob ?
😂😂😂
I think the xr69 were built for Formula TT
That's not a gs1000 engine, a bit later, and illegal as a xr69
😍😍😍
👍
Bad to the bone😎
