Thanks for taking us along, Paul! Such a great airplane for Qantas. Sadly, we don’t have any A220 flights scheduled at the moment, but can’t wait to come see you and give it a try. Best part, now we know which seats to select! Thanks again!

Hi Jeb. It's an amazing confluence that the A220 designed by Bombardier has controls/systems so similar to Airbus'. It flies almost the same even though it wasn't designed by them. Airbus pilots feel immediately familiar with it , and there's very little training required for them to qualify on type.

I love this aircraft. Right now it's my favorite one. The cabin is big and so are the overhead bins. I've flown with Air Canada from MIA to YUL several times and it's a very nice flight and very passenger friendly.

    • @owensmith7530
      @owensmith7530 3 месяца назад +1

The overhead bins are too low, I'm just under 6 feet tall (1.82m) so not exceptional but I had to duck to avoid bashing my head on the 2 seats side bins when walking down the aisle, I've never had to do that before. And the bins on the 3 seats side are difficult to reach, it's all a horrible compromise with the 3:2 seating layout.

Paul, I love your videos and your honesty! I flew a Delta Airlines A220 from DCA to DTW 2 years back and hated it!! While the airplane may be wonderful, Delta squished us in back in the economy section! So not a fan of the 'american' version of the A220 so far. Flew Delta's B717 6 months prior and found that comfortable enough. It really comes down to the how each airline designs it's internal layout to determine passenger comfort now days!

Loved flying these with Swiss in Europe (since 2018 for me) so it's not exactly new but we all know that QF haven't been falling over themselves in the fleet replacement department and they're always going to act as if they're the launch customer ...

Being in Canada, I have flown on a couple A220 for Air Canada, and it is a nice comfortable airplane, I found the air noise to be louder than I was expecting, or maybe it is because of the quieter engines that makes the cabin air noise louder. Always enjoy your flight reviews, Paul. Please excuse my fat-fingers on the 'like' button.
Very good reporting of the tech-stuff.
I find airliners much of a muchness, so seat-comfort is hugely important.
I pity the painter who came in on a Monday and was detailed off to do X4A!

Great video, really good introduction to this new Qantas jet and now I know about the seats and what is available on the jet I'm looking forward to flying on one really soon.

Looks lovely! Will look forward to a flight on it ... though may need to wait for a few more routes to open up than MEL-CBR / MEL-BNE...

    Thanks for the video, Paul.
I'm not particularly fond of narrowbody aircraft, but I make an exception for this one. I've been following the Bombardier C-Series programme ever since it was announced. I thought it was a shame that Bombardier couldn't make ends meet and had to sell the programme, and as I understand it, their entire commercial aircraft division, because what they've done with the C-Series is nothing short of remarkable. I really want to fly on one, and I hope that they'll start sending them on longer haul flights - particularly to Perth, where I live. By the looks of the seats and the available leg room, they appear far more comfortable than the 737s that have been plying the cross-continent domestic routes in recent years.

Looking forward to it in April. Detouring to CBR for a regular syd-mel run.
Would've taken it this Monday if i didn't spot some 330s from Mel to Syd and the 220 route prices were a bit on the high end.

Great vid - one FYI, being from the French speaking part of Canada, Bombardier is generally pronounced as Bom-bar-djee-ay…although that is probably somewhat English-ised as well!

It will be interesting to see but I doubt I will get to fly on one for some time as all our Qld flights had been changed from 717s to E190s over the last year or so.

The seating and luggage amenities are almost identical to the A320/1. Overall it's a smaller plane but from the interior its identical to the next size up. And I think it can reach any major city in Australia from any other major city in Australia (Perth to Brisbane?)

I might be in the minority but I’m totally fine with device streaming over the IFE. I always travel with a 2020 12.9 iPad Pro and as long as in-seat power is available, I’m set. Even if “slumming it” using only a smartphone, at least that device is already connected with my BT Headphones & can be shifted around to wherever is comfortable rather then having to stare straight ahead

Shame to see the 717 go. Never flown a QF flight on one, but plenty in Hawaii. Such a gorgeous engine sound. Excited to see what routes Qantas have in store? Perhaps some short haul international flights from TAS to NZ?

A220 is WAY more comfortable than either 737 or A320. The extra seat width makes a huge difference.

FWIW Paul, some other RUclipsrs I follow that have in-video promotions add in that they have been using the service or product and what their experience has been. Obviously, we don't know for sure if it's a truthful statement however I'd only check out a promotion from YT'ers I have positive experiences with over time (like you). This leads me to my suggestion of considering adding in-video promotions if you find a sponsor you're comfortable with, thus adding income to help keep you making vids for us. Right now, (to me) you're trying to stand out by comparing your channel to others and it sounded kind of negative to me, which is not how I see you, at all :) Keep having fun and bringing us good stuff Paul🤩

Hi mate, fair comments. I suppose I'm making the comparison because I'm saddened seeing people sell their soul when they initially started something for the love of it. The difference between us amateur vloggers and the media is that we're showing the real product which we paid for. It's hard to be honest when a company gives you a free product and you want to keep those free products coming. I'm not criticising the media, but I am making the distinction between them and us.
It's true about using a product that you genuinely believe in although, as you said, it's impossible to know if they genuinely believe that or are just saying it. It comes down to trust and that's the issue at stake here. I personally use Nord VPN but I see youtubers starting their VPN sales blerb by talking about how dangerous the world is...etc. From my perceptive, there is already too much fear and hate in the world so that's not something I would want to repeat.
I think that in the end of the day, vloggers need to decide if they're amateur vloggers OR businesses. If the latter, then they can make money (nothing wrong with that) but there is a level of trust lost IMHO.

@@PaulStewartAviation Excellent point about how some approach things from a perspective of fear. In sales, it used to be (maybe still is) called the 'disturb' phase of the selling process. Anyway, very informative vid, and all that seat power, wow. Sixty watts will run my laptop nicely. Cheers Paul :)

I flew Air Canada YUL-SFO and LAX- YUL last year on the A220, the IFE is a must on a 5:30 h flight, but from now on I'll be booking all my flights with the 220, no more 737 for this old guy.
