    I used to watch too many of these luxurious RUclipsrs, showing expensive high end goods and travelling the world in luxury, I wanted to buy my first luxury bag too bad even though it was the last thing I needed… I stopped watching most of them and basically unsubscribed to others. Guess what I leaned owning a luxury bag isn’t going to make me happy, wearing brand new outfits every month isn’t my number one concern anymore, I started to appreciate my modest life and stopped caring about how expensive I look. Those vloggers really do turn us into big consumers, wasting our hard earned money on some unimportant stuff instead of focusing on priorities. Anyway each their own I just explained how I feel

      The 3-D Matrix world is about consumerism , filled with distractions buy buy buy, waste our TIME buying, going out late night wasting time n getting drunk- So humans don't experience the next level of consciousness. Because the ones that do are much happier- they don't have to work 9-5 jobs. They r living out of the MATRIX system.

      When I first saw her videos to me I thought this lady is nice and then I loved her proposal videos later unsubscribed because I was going through a decluttering in my life which helped me loads and I rediscovered myself.i commented which I later deleted , after rediscovering her channel I liked who she has become. She worked hard with those 3 jobs- different from my life. But she made me realise about some things in my life which I should do- she inspires me and motivates me.
      NO I didn't go shopping because of her videos- I don't buy some things as I get them FREE but have to decline presents because I have so much it began to be a burden, i found JOY in giving away n feeling better.

    I subscribed to Lydia because of the video Hadassah Cordoba made about her. Right from the start, when she bullyied Haddassah to delete it, made me feel weird. But I enjoyed the content and though: why not give a second chance? Everybody deserves second chances. Well... She can curate her image all she wants, but the cracks are there for anyone to see.
    How she manipulated the situation with the hairdresser in her video, that if you watch it, you will think she was in a situation that she could be the victim of some sorth of violence, it's honestly disgusting.
    And we can see how brands are starting to jump ship. All the PRs and brand events/trips: gone. While her friends are thriving and geting all of it. How her "pickness" about how she only works with brands that she LOOOVES has come down to: gummy hair vitamins, teeth whitening strips and kitchen bowls.
    For example, the picture for the bowl campaing was her pretending to eat tomatoes. Beatiful picture. But her followers know she does not eat them.
    Or how she is now showing a mini kelly in all of her vlogs but never made an unboxing. But did the unboxing of the little scarf (i forgot the name). Like... we know that there is something fishy. You just need to watch and pay attention. And that is what audiences do.
    If I were a FAN I would be insulted, to be honest. To be treated as so d*mb. The constant lying and pretending. How she is uncapable of receiveing any kind of criticism. To such a point that i am super duper curious to see how she will react to this video.

    I am definitely not a fan of Lydia Millen - I only started to follow her a couple of years ago but as an older,more mature person ,I tend to be quite particular about who I subscribe to within the whole plethora of influencers out there on You Tube. It didn’t take me long to feel quite upset and almost angry after every video I watched of Lydia.I found a smugness and snobbery about her demeanour and just couldn’t figure out where the genuine side of her character was hidden and my dislike of her became increasingly intense.She came across as a manic consumer with a very inflated ego and in spite of her increasing luxurious lifestyle,never seemed to feel satisfied or grateful,often appearing to be depressed or droning on about subjects that were trying to draw on the sympathies of her subscribers.
    The constant revamping of rooms in her home and the feeling that she was jealous of other highly successful influencers leading to ever increasing house makeovers and a ‘copy cat’ change of direction even purchasing the same breed of dog and brand new 4x4 vehicle like them,just underlined the fact that she comes across as very insecure and shallow. I seem to remember she received some criticism over getting Porter,her dachshund, as once she did,she showed little interest in him and treated him like any other expensive accessory she’s purchased - one that she got bored with after the initial excitement wore off.I hope she never has to face the day when,or if,her image and lifestyle ever hit hard times as I honestly think she would crumble.It follows that I unsubscribed from her channel as I’m not seduced by her obvious wealth,beauty,lifestyle or product advertorials.

    Yes, I enjoyed this video and I follow Lydia. But I follow a lot of Influencers. I enjoy their content and use them to stay up to date with fashion, home decoration, new foods and vacation suggestions. I neither love or hate these people, I do not even know them, but I know how hard it is to be a working woman and I am happy for all of them, and their successes. Not sure why we have to come down on either side, can't we just enjoy the fruits of their labor. They are providing information and they have a right to their privacy. I am not sure I want to see Lydia looking slovenly, just to seem "real" to some people. I wear clean clothes every day and shower and put make up on everyday even when I am staying home. That is not unusual. Of course I do not wear my best clothing when I am washing the toilet or making tomato sauce. I watch Lydia and others to get an idea about outfit combinations and new make up products. That is all. I do enjoy her videos and do not care that she puts in a lot of work into curating them to perfection for us. Shouldn't she be making quality videos, isn't that the goal, making a good product? And in so doing, putting her best foot forward. We all to a certain degree put our best foot forward when we are in public, on a job interview, meeting our in-laws, on a date, talking to clients, or prospects. Why does anyone need to know who I am when I have my sweats on and my feet up watching TV with a bag of popcorn on my lap, relaxing on a Sunday watching football. Who wants to see that?

    Ummm, how about BOTH? Honestly, this myth that is perpetuated that people/celebrities must ALWAYS be and behave perfectly otherwise they are ‘fake’ or ‘spoiled’ or cancelled?? It confounds me!! We ALL lose our shit once in a while. Especially if we are stressed, hurt or hormonal! And if most women are truly honest, when it comes to appearance, we are most particular about our hair. Did she behave badly? If it all went down as described, sure! But the comments here of self righteous people so quick to unfollow or judge her as evil because she had a meltdown is what I find more repugnant. Why? Because if most women are honest about who they are , they will know that they have had meltdowns or tantrums or experiences where perhaps they overreacted or lashed out at people…and are grateful that they are ‘nobodies’ enough that it was not broadcast for everyone else to judge. 🙄

      English culture does not verbally abuse pregnant women, it can kill the baby. I'm not clucking over other women but I still walk behind prego women on the stairs in case they fall, so I can catch them.. She should've also offered to carry heavy things up the stairs for her, even if refused. Or get husband to do it. There's no excuse for that cruelty altogether and the woman could've reported her actually. I heard maybe Lydia can't have kids so just hated the woman for being pregnant, but invited her to her house anyway as a hair emergency, which would make sense but still be a hate crime. There's no excuse for tantrums from grown adults. Maybe she needs therapy but there's no excuse for abuse. The vengefulness of being Regina George and trying to get friends to cancel on the hairdresser is also wrathful and ugly.

My comment was based around the notion that women, particularly those in the limelight, MUST be without reproach at all times. In the beginning of her channel I found her more relatable, now not so much. I know people grow in different directions all the time, but I found her constant redo of her home and un-packaging free items to be boring. She seems to convey that she's more entitled to things they give her, and really it seems that she run out of things to talk about and do so she does the before mentioned. I unsubscribed to her a few months back for two reasons, she bullying her former hairdresser and her constant need to change her home.

    Erika,
    It's December 2022, and I think at the end of this past November, Lydia had her worse catastrophe yet: no heat at home / so on TT she announced her going to the Savoy for their hot water. The worst part was her replies to ppl concerned about real life issues: inflation, heat for this winter, costs of everything rising, having to change what you eat etc. As usual, LEM is totally TONE DEAF. So please cover this continuing saga. 1 question I have is: is she surrounded by "Yes" ppl? Does she pay for professional PR? This was a fiasco on all levels. This showed the true LEM who is not empathetic in the least.

    We all know that all influencers are only selling us what they want us to see , its not real life , last week Lydia did some cleaning in a very expensive designer blouse without calling her team over to do it or carrie the girl who does the running round after her . Of course we realise that off camera she's in an old jogging suit like us ! Influencers aren't stars or talented .I think Lydia has some deep rooted problems and cant stand for anything to be less than perfect which isnt life and cant help but think if she has children it would bring her down to earth more . Her lovely sausage dog is what I watch her channel for and I think its helped her realise animals are more important than designer handbags ! Her content also has some nice country vibes which is enjoyable .I know she gets a lot of freebies but the level of items she buys on a daily basis is quiet shocking and can put out discontentment to have the latest designer this and that , well we dont need or want them cluttering up the place ! I am always hoping Lydia will relax more as she ages and I think more people would warm to her .

    There are young mums out there working on average three jobs at a time and yet an influencers life is so hard. Come on, yes they work hard but so do other women. Why arnt we lifting up these young mums ( one example ) as power house women and only focusing on what is thought to be successful ie money, homes etc?

    • @mann7298
      @mann7298 3 года назад +1

      its more about people belittling influencers job as if it isnt even a job. no one is saying that they would work harder than someone who works three different jobs. its also very different to work in physical jobs than in an office kind of a job, and both can be very hard in different ways. if people wouldnt go out of their way to complain that being an influencer isnt a proper job then people wouldnt feel the need to defend their job, every single influencer has been belittled bc of their choice of career/job. maybe you need to widen your sources bc i see in my country also regular women being lifted up, but at the same time, its quite hard to do when not everyone wants to be online and on the show, like you are with influencing, hence it can also be focused on that. a young mum struggling to get by isnt necessarily someone who wants to be put on front page, its not always easy to find those people you want to highlight, in many different areas.

    • @headron66
      @headron66 3 года назад +2

      @@mann7298 a very intelligent comment. One I can agree with mostly. I’m not slating the influencer culture. I think it was born out of need. People want to know how good a cream is etc before trying it, or a place to stay. Now that’s not to say that every influencer will tell the truth about a product because they won’t but all in all people are happy with what they do and trust them to a certain extent, it shows in their views. Too many times have I heard how hard they have it and that they are not taken seriously and yes they are allowed to complain the same as the rest of us about how tired they get but there are harder more stressful jobs that women are doing. They may not want to be front page of the newspaper but we do need to recognise in this world of social media that there are women working harder who never get a ‘like’ or a Pat on the back. I’m still going to admire the young mum with three jobs. Take care

    • @mann7298
      @mann7298 3 года назад +1

      @@headron66 sure, i dont think any of us forget that there are jobs where hard work really goes into it, and it doesnt get the same kind of attention. during the pandemic the healthcare workers definitely have been highlighted in a way they havent before, which is great. it is sad that it doesnt happen more often without these kind of things happening for them to get the attenion they deserve.
      i think its the combination of social media ofc, but also we have a culture of competing, jealousy and expectations to succeed, and especially women going against women. i think there needs to be work towards uplifting and supporting women, no matter their profession. maybe that way everyone could get their own praise, and admiration for their hard work. its kind of how we often leave feedback when we get bad service, but when its good we rarely give feedback as eagerly. we should work on that in general, something thats been said for years but still goes.

There were a lot of coincidences where she was copying other influencers, her dogs, her garden, her hot house and finally a clearly paid for video about how rich she was and highlighted her riding horses, which I had never seen in her videos. (Again mimicking an influencer who was a recognized, accomplished, competitive horse woman on a legitimate horse circuit.) I’m not interested in drama, personally or in others and have never dug for or followed up on hints of drama but I started to see a pattern of victim hood in Lydia. This may seem petty but she is no where near as articulate as other influencers and her reaction to things and situations are shallow.

    I used to like her back in the day. Today she just seems fake like she has a facade. Also, I really dislike when she says that she got something and gives impression that she bought it herself but later on says it was given by a brand. These things should be disclosed more clearly in my opinion.
    She seems emotionally not so stable and I can totally see that people around her might be affected by this. And maybe this is reason why there's negative rumours around. In the end of the day we only see what she allows us to see. Things might be very different behind the closed doors.

    I stopped following her because the perfection is too unreal to watch. Does not resonate

    P.S. Ali’s content is so much better than Lyd’s. IMO. He could be in the film industry.

    I'll have to compliment you for this video. I can see you scripted it carefully and managed the pace enough that we never lose interest.

    Jealousy.......it's ugly.
    Lydia is a winner. A very hard working rising star. Earned every bit of success she has along with the help of a great husband. Those two and her best friend Carrie are thriving in life. Everyone should just stop being so petty and focus on one's own life ambitions.....and if you don't have any, get a life!

      When lydia verbally bullied the heavly pregnant young lady hairdresser' and then phoned her assistant Carrie to come and join in with the intimidation of a kind hard working woman, that has nothing to do with jealously, it's bullying.

    I liked her videos for a bit but something about her turned me off after a year or so of watching her content. She seems a little entitled to me, it's really hard to pinpoint. She comes across as expectant of the luxuries she has and like she always needs to keep up the facade of having the best of everything. She lost me when she not only had to have pure bred cats (which she lets roam and lost one, but that's another whole topic) but then had to get a bred dog. She isn't relatable in my opinion but none of us are for everyone. I know there are a lot of ppl that can relate to her and I wish her all the best.

    I may be mistaken about the Zimmerman dress but it was a designer white frothy dress, if she could just be more realistic it would convert to the screen, some of the things that Lydia must have from designer everything dish washing liquid to her beloved dogs collar and blanket, designer designer all the way, such a cliche.

    I LOVE her Vlogs and Lydia & Ali. The diversification of her channel is excellent and interesting. Growing up as an individual on line must be horrid as people can be so cruel. I feel if you are uncomfortable with her don't watch her. I for one enjoy that she is human and that she try's her hardest at every level.

    If she is so picky over brands she will put to her audience…. Then why was her own glow brand. So awful ?? Poor quality & horrendously over priced ?? She thought her followers would blindly buy into her brand simply because it was “hers”. She is terribly self absorbed

      She brought in those black painters during BLM time and suddenly we haven’t seen them any longer even though she has changed paint colors numerous times since. I asked her months ago about what black businesses she’s been supporting and not a single response despite being a top comment. She conveniently ignored it. She’s an opportunist!!

      @@chaank1069 if you use the colour of your skin to sell your products, then you are telling me your products are rubbish. I will buy your products if they are a good price, good quality and good customer service, I don't give a sheet what colour you are. Maybe Ken is busy as he's so good or doesn't want to be on camera anymore. Stop with the rascist card it's boring.

    It’s so funny this video came on my recommendations bc I hadn’t been watching her content since the hair dresser fiasco and I watched one of her videos recently to see some fashion content and now I’m getting all kinds of LEM stuff 🤦🏻‍♀️ I think she has a great eye for fashion so I recently checked in to see what’s new, but I don’t support her or her channel bc I don’t like bullies. I agree people shouldn’t leave hateful comments on people’s videos. Criticism I understand. Hate I don’t. I just don’t watch a person’s content or unsubscribe if I am subscribed.

    I find Lydia nothing more than a shrewd sales agent. Lydia, Josie and Victoria would sell me butter if it could fund their big houses and if life style . And no I’m not jealous of them, if people are silly enough to buy the products they are selling/endorsing than more power to Lydia and her “friends” What my biggest problem is her arrogance in thinking that audience are stupid not see through facade. The whole RUclips . .. Instagram is nothing but a business. Means to make money at our expense!
