- Guiding Light's Kim Zimmer takes home the trophy for Outstanding Lead Actress at the 2000 Soap Opera Digest Awards. The other ladies in her category were Susan Flannery (The Bold & the Beautiful) and Jess Walton (The Young & the Restless). This was the last time the Soap Opera Awards were aired on network television (NBC).

I totally wish I could have gone to NYC for some of the fan events...she seems like a great lady.
I had the privilege of going on the Guiding Light cruise ship with several of the cast members. They were all great and enjoyed meeting the fans. Kim Zimmer is simply amazing! I still have the picture of the two of us on my shelf at home.

Reva was my favorite character on guiding light.im a huge fan of Kim since she started on guiding light and I always will. Kim is my favorite and family 4 ever and always ❤️
That's so cool...I would love to meet Kim...She seems like such a nice person in real life...I love how she doesn't even realize that she won at first LOL....I wonder if they still televise the Soap Opera Digest Awards

If they did the soaps would be different. That's what messed up the Emmys. I am not sure why SOD would do that. NBC quit airing it in the year they actually BEAT GH. NBC was always that arrogant network who thought they were better than the others because of Friends and could never accept that DOOL had serious quality issues. Then Soapnet aired it but then Frons takes over.

The fact that this woman has less emmys than Heather Tom, an actress who Sarah Brown, a should-have-been four+ time emmy winner, beat two years in a row in the younger actress days. And now Kim could be joined by West(if the system is fixed), McClain, Tognoni, Byrne, or Brown(who is doing well in the digital field) in the next few years. Kim may want to book a digital gig.

I get irritated over people just posting their favorite parts. Nostalgia is desired more than ever now and leaving stuff out is annoying. Like who did she beat? We never saw it. Clearly she was not going up against a GH or DOOL actress here as they won every category they were nominated in.
Up against Susan Flannery (B&B) and Jess Walton (Y&R). Hope this helps resolve your irritation.
@@celebratingthesoaps Well that makes sense. Although, GL had lower fan voting popularity than both those shows. I think her name had a lot to do with the win. Maybe the GH and DOOL fans voted for her. GH, DOOL, AMC, and Y&R were the big four with AW right behind.
Kim won because she is the most talented actress ever to star on a soap opera. Days and GH didn’t have this level of talent.

I cannot believe they are going to cancel Guiding Light. What will we all do. Glad grandma's already gone, she wouldn't like it at all.
