Actually, playing an instrument is really a body experience connected to the act of dancing. Piano players make their fingers dance on the keyboard, same for guitar players and the strings. To me, at a deep level, playing music is actually dancing. A dance that makes music, to get back to your perspective ^^
@@misterblueshine as someone who makes música I have to agree, though the way he uses his whole body makes me wish i could create that kind of spectacle with my fingers...to no avail xD also, nice to see someone sharing a similar perspective regarding music making

This guy is an incredible musician. I saw him in concert at the Jazz Festival in Montreal this past summer. Hope to see Mezerg in the SF bay area soon. 😀
Very, very nice performance. This is my first encounter with Mezerg, but ABSOLUTELY not the last. The bust, with the Zappa mustache / imperial.. holds great promise of a musical adventure!
This is just beyond amazing!! How in the hell do you get all 4 limbs doing something different at the same time?! Wish this track was longer. Think I play it about 10+ times a day!
Using the pitch antenna's cv to sweep a filter is a pretty clever way to make any movement instantly sound way more musical than it otherwise would be. The end result is pretty stunning!
@@judynightmusic the sound is being generated on another synth. he is hooking up the control voltage outputs of the theremins antenna to the appropriate inputs on that other synth - volume to volume, and pitch to filter. basically, using the theremin as a controller for another synth.
@@Mennenth That's sweet! I found a video on Sweetwater to describe this usage. So cool. I have to decide if it's worth switching from the built-in modulater wheel...certainly looks cooler
@@Mennenth So basically he's treating the theremin like a set of expression pedals? If what you described is the case then that's really cool! Sounds like there's also a sustain pedal in there somewhere as well. He's likely controlling that with the ball of his right foot, like normal? I remember reading somewhere that, if I remember correctly, the heel of the right foot plays the hi-hat, but nothing was mentioned about the ball of the right foot playing any drum sounds, so that means it's actually fairly easy to leave the ball of the right foot free for the sustain pedal (and I know this to be true, because I've tried it myself). Alternatively I've also seen people use their right knee for the sustain pedal instead. Actually that might be what's happening, because upon further reflection I do remember reading that he does sometimes use the ball (or toes) of the right foot to play other drum sounds. Unfortunately, I cannot see anything he is actually doing because I'm visually impaired to the point of complete blindness, so I'm having to just go off of what I've read and heard from various one-man bands and online articles about one-man bands. Mezerg's foot-drumming pedal layout was mentioned in the reading I previously mentioned.
Bravo.

But from a musicians perspective, when you play on beat you are pretty much dancing anyway.
