Thank you very much for your video! My Kenmore HE4t is 20 years old, and the FH/HF issue turned out to be a problem with the pressure switch. I replaced the water valve and flow meter, it didn’t fix the problem. I took off the top, bottom, and back panels to check the pressure hose (still in perfect condition). I replaced the pressure switch and did a hard reset on the machine. The machine is now working beautifully! The total cost for all three parts $230 (shipping and tax included). After nine years (2023), your video still financially saving people like me. You’re an angel!
This was helpful to me (thanks!) so I'll add my experience. My HE4t was throwing the F/H error about 2 minutes into the fill cycle. Then if I was able to get it to continue it would sometimes drain as a result, I assume, of being overfilled due to multiple fill attempts and triggering the pressure switch's overfill sensor position. Sometimes it would continue through the cycle then throw the error after a couple minutes into the rinse fill routine. I made sure flow meter was turning and pressure switch was clicking with blowing into it. After seeing a comment that the washer is programmed to throw the F/H error after pressure switch not detecting filled state after 8 minutes, I reasoned that it might be the flow meter circuit causing the error, since it was always about 2 minutes in that it happened. Also, pressure switch overflow sensor seemed to be working as described above. Replaced the flow meter for 50 bucks and so far so good! I assume the circuit board on the meter was bad, or the maybe the sensor contacts. So if it throws the error in the first couple minutes it may very well be your flow meter, not the pressure switch. If it throws it after about 8 minutes, it might be your pressure switch, not the flow meter.
This seems sensible. Just randomly replacing parts like the OP is a little silly. You can test continuity (ohms) on the contacts - the inflow contacts. Should be 500-1800 I think it said on another video.
Omgosh! This actually worked exactly like you said! We replaced the inlet valve first (I wish I would have started with the flow meter because I had a feeling it was the flow meter) and it didn't work, then we replaced the flow meter and BAM! It worked! Thank you so much for this video...you saved us a lot of money!
I just fixed the HF error on my Kenmore, it was the computer chip that needed replacement. You were describing it on track 6:11. Replace that it should work.
you will need to buy the kit, called "flow meter" it should come with a new computer limiter. Try Amazon or even Ebay, but take note of your washer's model prior to making the purchase.
FH Error means there's a Fill problem. This can happen from any of the three components in this system (as shown nicely in the video) plus the hose on the water pressure valve too. It's hard to diagnose the problem. Some ideas: the flow meter clicks on and off. If you don't hear clicking, the switch might not be switching off. Also, you can sometimes hear a low hum when the flow meter receives a signal to switch off but doesn't. This would be in the situation where water is coming in but not shutting off. It's not true as another on a different video surmises. that the timing of when the water problem happens will tell you whether it is the flow meter on the left or the pressure switch on the right. Because there's a feedback loop - the problem might happen later in the cycle indicating signaling from the pressure switch. But the flow meter has to *hear* that signal too. So even if late in the cycle, it could still be the "upstream" flow meter component. (Ask me how I know this, lol). Other diagnosing ideas: there's a switch on the side of the flow meter (looks a little like a capacitor). Check for signs of burn on the card indicating it might be blown. The new flow meter part comes with that new switch too. Someone, not sure if it was this video, claimed the flow meter is the most-changed-out-part on the machine. That makes some sense, it is very delicately-tuned and these front loaders have mind-boggling torque and rattle going; the opportunity for blowing a switch is legion. GOOD LUCK! BTW - if you're fiddling with the pressure switch on the right and/or its hose and need to remove the backing, know that you don't actually have to remove the metal hosing that the motherboard is screwed onto. You can skip those three attachment screws and just gently lower the back metal plate.
Also you can do a "soft test", maybe, of the flow meter just by taking it out and putting it back in. This might cause it to work for a bit but then fail. That might be diagnostic. Maybe. But as so many are saying, mostly you diagnose by replacing.... :(
HI I'm Roy , I have a Kenmore HE Elite, I get an F code and a little water will stays in the Washer and won't drain. I cleaned out the front drain. Got it all cleaned out (loose change and pens mostly)and I put it back. I turned it on and I heard the cycle start and the water start then it clicked off (door lock sound) and then and the door locked and it hummed like its trying to do some thing like drain or pull water in. I already replaced the water hoses. Now it wont let me cancel the cycle. I'd like to start by going to the back and draining the back lower drain is there a video you recommend ? Also where should I look for parts other than Sears? Thanks
Thank you for sharing! What is the brand and model number of flow meter you bought? I went the website you suggested but can’t find any Je more flow meter, the closest one I can find is from whirlpool model number W10110225. Please advise! Thanks!
I know this is a old video but do you know the capacity this washing machine is? I have had this model for 13 years now still working good but I cant find anywhere what size ours is lol

Just another normal, untrained dude here to thank you for this video! Replaced the water valve and it totally works now. Thanks!!

I saw several videos on this error and by far ths was the best. Got it done.
Thank you for the video. On my washer the FH light comes on when it drains, so I'm not sure which switch to replace.
I watched your video one question after you installed the parts and ran it through a cycle how much did the tub fill up was just curious.
I really did not check the amount of water. It ran a regular cycle and has been running ever since.
THANK YOU! BEEN WORKING ON THIS ALL DAY TODAY. I LOVE MY MACHINE AND FIGURED I COULD FIX IT, BUT THE MANUAL WASN'T HELPFUL AT ALL. LOVE YOUR VIDEO.
I just fixed the HF error on my Kenmore, it was the computer chip that needed replacement. You were describing it on track 6:11. Replace that it should work.
Where did you buy the computer chip to replace just that piece? What is it called?
you will need to buy the kit, called "flow meter" it should come with a new computer limiter. Try Amazon or even Ebay, but take note of your washer's model prior to making the purchase.
You saved me a lot of money buddy. 1st thing I changed was the flow regulator. AND BINGO! Thank you so much buddy.
From what supplier did you order your parts to fix the Kenmore He4t? Thank you!
Yes, please post a link in the main description.

What she said ☝️. That was a great explanation. Thank you taking the time.
@@allritythen the switch looks like a *resistor* not capacitor. (oops, sorry).

Lucky you. I have changed all the relevant parts and still have the same problem.
that stinks! Do you think one of the parts you replaced is also Bad? I'm sorry to hear that.
It's possible. If so it has to be either the flow meter or the pressure switch. Thanks for your response.

Pedro Jimenez did you look at the hoses? Sometimes the hoses get clogged and don’t allow enough water to flow in.
Yes sir I even take the hose and turn the water too see if coming clean because I saw you said you are from Florida and I live in FL so I want to make sure everything is clean but nothing
It same thing goin on my washer tryna this
There’s a high pitch screaming frequency something going on that is really terrible
when the noise is occurring, can you see the tumbler spin? You might need a new belt or lubricate the drive system.
Ah it was the flow meter
