I can't believe how much work you put in to producing these videos especially. All your videos are always super excellent, but your series are so thorough, ultra organized, and comprehensive. Plus all the links and info you include! Just wanted to acknowledge your hard work, Jennifer. I'm so appreciative of the time you spend doing these, even though it's your "job". Happy Sunday evening, lady! XO ❤️
Thanks for reminding people that the problem with their inks might actually be the quality of the stamps or paper they are using. You are a wealth of information. I enjoy your crafty things videos immensely.
Hi Jennifer ~ This is another fabulous and informative video in your annual series. I love that you share your honest opinion about the inks and other products (& that you never trash-talk the companies you aren't quite as thrilled with) and I've made many purchases from your recommendations. Thank you for all you continue to do for all of us. ~HUGS~
Another great video! Thank you, Jennifer, for creating these videos, and as always, giving us the information we need to continue our stamping journey. We are all so grateful for the time and effort you spend making these videos and we can't thank you enough!
I love your tutorials Jennifer. They are packed of great instructions, very useful hints and such beautiful projects. I wish I had found you 3 years ago when I started to craft. Thank you very much to share with us all this knowledge. xx
I just want to thank you Jennifer for all of your videos,I know it is alot of work for you but we the crafters really appreciate it. Personally I look forward to your Crafty Things videos and have learned a lot from them and of course added a few things to my wish list, lol. Again thank you you are most appreciated by us all. Dawn from the UK
Oh Jennifer what wasn't there to love about your Favorite Inks Share....!) your integrity and it impeccable you are the epitome of the Golden Rule...I am referring to your comment regarding all brand of inks....2) your tried and true reviews 3) your shares are so well understood to us beginners *me* and still totally enjoyed by those who are well seasoned in this area. Your video I know took allot of time to put this all together and give us the best information you could possibly. You are so appreciated for all you do and the way you do it and this goes too for all of your "My Favorite Things" videos....I have learned so much from you!! Wishing you a Magnificent Monday!! YOU TRULY ROCK!! Joan Smith
Jennifer, another informative video dear! Thank you so much for spending the time to do these MFCT videos.... I can only imagine how much work goes into them. You are greatly appreciated....gentle hugz, Nancy
Your videos are always well-thought-out and organized, Jennifer. Thanks so much for what you share with the rest of us out here in RUclips-Land who are working towards successful cardmaking and scrapbooking. I do find it interesting that you rarely if ever run out of ink in the basic dye ink pads you use and thus don't purchase reinkers! I always make sure the lids are on tight and I store my ink pads inside of plastic containers that seal TIGHTLY, like Lock n Lock containers with the silicone gasket, and I still end up purchasing reinkers to replenish them, and I don't make as many cards as you do....for sure! My dear husband, a chemist, told me I'd better keep my ink pads stored like that, especially the solvent-based ones. I reclose my ink pads as soon as I am done with each color. I''m very careful with my investment. Still, I have to buy reinkers or a new pad. I cannot figure out what I'm doing wrong. I will have to re-examine this. Please keep up all the great work you do, especially in encouraging us to make/send cards for good causes. After all, Kindness Matters! Blessings to you and to your family.
Oh Jennifer the engineer!!! I love how you had to line up the ink pads. I love that God gave each of us our own talents. I didn't get that gift. I appreciate your producing your faves videos; it is very helpful.
I so love these videos...my craft purchases around this time are based on your videos and I save them and rewatch them when I am ready to buy more items
Another great (and helpful) video, Jennifer! Thank you so much for all the time and work you put into creating this series for us! Especially since your new Studio is not finished :)
I initially started with colorbox pigment inks 17 years ago because I loved to clear emboss them. In the past year they are starting to need reinking but many of the colors have been discontinued. So have been purchasing other brands to find inks I like. I love cubes or teardrop sizes so I can have more colors and save space in my craft. The only inks I am buying reinkers for are distress inks. Think I will try some of Gina K cubes. Thanks for all your time to show us what you think is best. You have taught me SO much especially new.items in the market.
Thank you Jennifer!!!!!!! I refer back to your videos all the time! I really appreciate all the work you put into them...so much information that is SO helpful!!!!
I love learning about the inks and prepping the stamp. Also, thanks to you I started purchasing the Neenah Classic Crest Solar White and it does make a difference. It does come dearly but it is worth it. I will be purchasing it again. I love when my stamps stain, because I can see what they say more clearly.
Another wonderful and helpful video. Wanted to mention I saw the shammy material offered by Amazon. It is called Absorber. It comes in a tube in many different sizes. You can cut them down. I caught a women in the U.K. talking and demonstrating them. Oh and I ordered that salt coconut. I love it.
Love the video. Like how you describe the different types. I'm a Gina K fan and love her new cubes. They fit in the Im Holtz tins and easy to take with you. Thanks for sharing with us!
Thank you for sharing. I always find these useful. Through you, I bought the Ranger Dye inks and I've recently managed to purchase the new set of 6 really cheaply - £2 each!! I'm using them more with the new colours - they are lovely and I'm getting over my issues with stained stamps. Xx
Excellent video. So informative. It's good to know that most stamp pads do not need re-inking. I have had some for a few years and they are still going strong! I also love your tips on black ink. I find that I really, really need a perfect black ink. Nothing is more frustrating than not having a clear image. What a waste if we stamp on our card and mess it up. I guess that's why I love my Misty so much. I can restamp if I need to. But I love a good, crisp black image. I also didn't realize how important the cardstock is! I am looking into ordering some of that Neenah Classic Crest Solar White. Thank you, thank you for all of your suggestions. It makes such a huge difference to have confidence in our creativeness when we're using the best products out there. Not necessarily the priciest...but the BEST! You're kind of like the Consumer Reports of Stamping. Ha ha!
I have learned so much from watching your videos!!!!! Thank you so much for all your time and effort! You are so talented and I appreciate your advice. I have taken many notes to look back on. Thank you!
I agree with other commenters. Alot of work and to the point so we dont have to wait for you to find products youre talking abt. Thanks helps all of us. Happy thanksgiving.!!
Great information! I like the idea of ink samples. I have a book where I stamp all my stamps and it helps me remember all my images and where they are located.
Jennifer, thank you so very much for your videos!! So very informative and helpful in understanding inks!! I have only been stamping for a few years. I was introduced to it when I went to a Stampin Up weekend workshop. So the products I use are primarily from them. I have gone to different craft stores looking to try different inks but became overwhelmed!! I did buy some distress ink but didn't know the proper use so was never happy!! I am concerned though that you didn't mention the SU inks. I've invested quite a bit of money into getting all of their colors. They seem ok to me, but I am looking to use my card making to get some secondary income now that I'm retired on disability. I would appreciate your input :) Thank you again, I love watching your videos more than cable!! God Bless!!
hi typing lefthanded. broke right hand sunday. I prefer cling stamps and to prep them, I use a white eraser to "erase" release product companies use for those type of stamps and then stamp them them a few times. also you might try white ink over tan ink on dark card stock to get a brighter white. tip from ceramist mama.
TFS your video reviews are ALWAYS informative and reliable. I forgot that MFT ink was copic friendly. I use the Versafine Onyx ink and yes I make a mess! But it's a nice ink. No good for alcohol markers though! Also thanks for showing us the new SSS barely inks. I use cube size n coloured inks because of cost, storage etc but thanks for the tip about covering the stamp evenly with the cube sized ink. Thanks for all the work you do to make our purchasing easier.
good video. You use some kind of index products with the products you have? is yes, how you organized it? thanks for your videos great inspiration and trips.
So informative! I stalk RUclips for your new videos all the time. i was hoping to find a little section in here on which inks blend the best. Is there another video that has this?
Great video! I'm still trying to figure out what color dye inks work for me. I like the cubes because, they are affordable and not so messy inking a stamp. I tend to get the block inked up with a big ink pad. What company is that "beautiful" stamp, I love it. Thanks, for all your hard work and creativity that you share.
Hi Jennifer, After watching videos for a few years, yours and other papercrafters I have decided to start myself and use these videos for inspiration to buy. I am a bit confused and hope you'll help, am I right to say, imagine a hierarchy of your favourite dye inks- Hero arts, SSS, Wplus9 are at the top then a level down would be Lawn Fawn, MFT and ranger and gina K? Your style of papercraft is beautiful and I really do value your opinion! Thanks! Charli! x
Question about hybrid vs dye ink. I'm looking at purchasing MFT inks. What is the difference between hybrid and dye and is there any reason to own both, other than black for Copic coloring? Which performs better on Neenah solar white?
I watched a video a while back on black inks...I think one of them was yours where you recommended a heat tool you really liked. I can't seem to find it...what was the heat tool you recommend? Thanks!
Hi Jennifer ~ I meant to ask you if you know what the name of the color nail polish you're wearing in this video (but forgot!). Love that color so much. Thanks.
Hi Jennifer! Long-time silent follower here. You mentioned in this video that you would talk about embossing powders later in this series. I have watched the rest of your My Favorite Crafty Things 2016 videos, but I can't seem to find it. The closest I could find where you talked about your preferred embossing powders was a 2014 video on organizing/storing your embossing powders. Help? Advice? Thanks so much!
"most of us wear different kind of shoes" yes but usually not as the same time ;-)I do use two or three brands of ink together though... I got the Ranger dye inks and Memento dew drops but I found the Ranger really stain my stamps and although ok, I don;t like stained stamps, do you know why some stain more than others?
Maaike Uijthoven I love my Rangers but I do agree that they stain, but I'm learning to live with the staining. It hasn't damaged my stamps any and they really do stamp well :)
I am glad you brought up paper! So often I want to judge an ink or a stamp when the poor paper is to blame! Right now I am having a problem with my white pigment ink (hero arts) bleeding the color out of my red bazzil cardstock. it keeps turning pink! I think I need to try a different paper. Do you ever notice papers that bleed like that? It is for my holiday cards and really I do not want to heat emboss 50+ cards! TFS & Hugs! Phillip
I really only have the budget to use one brand of inks and I only use them for Copic coloring or layering and I was wondering what is your suggestion for my situation??? Please help!!!
I have the Altenew inks. Was recreating your vellum card using the gray in k's and liquid platinum embossing pwdr. it was beautiful but after a couple of days the ink turned green. All layers of Altenew were the same color of green. Any ideas why? only the grays changed colors. thanks
Jennifer McGuire Ink no the ink on thecardstock. theonly thing I canthink of, I adhered thecardstock to thevellumbefore i embossed on the vellum. and only they gray turned, not any of the other colors. really wierd
Hey Jennifer!! I was wondering if you have tried the Taylored Expressions inks? I'm sure you probably have but I was just curious. I bought a couple ink cubes from them and really liked them:) Thanks so much for these videos!! Awesome job!!
Do you have a solution for someone being a messy stamper. No matter what kind of ink I'm using it seems to want to stamp on me insead of the paper. I really try hard to be neat, but it's just not in my nature. I always have to stamp extra pieces because when I fussy cut there are going to be stains on the paper. I let the ink dry, I think, and wash my hands constantly. Even after washing my hands, somehow the ink stills shows up on me. This does happen mostly when I'm distressing pieces with a tool. HELP ME?!?!?!
I've been interested in the waffle flower dye inks but didn't see them mentioned in the video (just in the shot with all the ink pads together), what do you think of them?
Jennifer - can you give a link to the Neenah classic crest solar white cardstock you like? Except for the differences in weight, I don't know what the differences are between three of Neenah's classic crest papers I see advertised: - solar white (80#), - super-smooth solar white (80#), and - cover solar white (110#). I've been using Neenah Exact Index (110#), which, as the name suggests, is kind of index-cardy. I'd hate to have to order packs of each to compare, but realize I just may need to do that. Any guidance you can provide will be appreciated!
Jennifer, you mentioned that SSS Inks were Copic Friendly? Does that mean that all the others like SSS are too? Like HA & Wplus9? Or did you mean just the new "barely" line?
I thought Hero Arts was carrying an hybrid ink alcohol marker friendly as well ? Or maybe is it possible that an ink can be alcohol marker friendly but NOT Copic friendly ? (Sorry for my bad english) Love from France, Marjorie
i just made an order of the cube size only to find out they arent the same, theyre hybrid vs dye ink. jennifer or anyone will that mean they arent as good???:/
have you tried the Journey inks? they are a hybrid fusing both pigment and dye inks. Here is a link www.funstampersjourney.com/product-info Just wondering what you think of them ?

yes, some inks stain and some don't. but it should not alter it's ability to stamp well!
thank I know it doesn't affect the stamps, jut my problem lol
hahaha many people get frustrated with that - it isn't just you! :) pigment inks usually don't stain
Loving your vids at the mo...Where can we get the ink swatches ? Thanks
I am glad you brought up paper! So often I want to judge an ink or a stamp when the poor paper is to blame! i haven't found that. must be the pigments in that paper. :)
I really only have the budget to use one brand of inks and I only use them for Copic coloring or layering and I was wondering what is your suggestion for my situation??? Please help!!!
Jennifer, I am curious if you have tried the (new to me) Ranger non-watermark ink for embossing. I have only seen it used once, by Yana I believe.
Great video. I don't have a lot of inks. So the info helps me decide which inks I need to get.
Extremely helpful information.
Thank you for all the infor..... I'm going try the good quality paper stock (neena).
I love the Beautiful" word stamp that you are using. What set is this from? thanks Deanna from New Zealand!
I have the Altenew inks. Was recreating your vellum card using the gray in k's and liquid platinum embossing pwdr. it was beautiful but after a couple of days the ink turned green. All layers of Altenew were the same color of green. Any ideas why? only the grays changed colors. thanks
the grey turned green? yikes! never had that happen. what cardstock? do you mean on vellum?
Jennifer McGuire Ink no the ink on thecardstock. theonly thing I canthink of, I adhered thecardstock to thevellumbefore i embossed on the vellum. and only they gray turned, not any of the
other colors. really wierd
I'm curious; you have never posted inks like Stampin Up, CTMH or PTI. Is it because you don't like the matchy look, quality an issue or price point?
I've been interested in the waffle flower dye inks but didn't see them mentioned in the video (just in the shot with all the ink pads together), what do you think of them?
i am still playing with them before recommending. so far so good!
Thank you!!
very cool video thx for your hard work. i would like a link for your cardstock
Jennifer - can you give a link to the Neenah classic crest solar white cardstock you like? Except for the differences in weight, I don't know what the differences are between three of Neenah's classic crest papers I see advertised:
- solar white (80#),
- super-smooth solar white (80#), and
- cover solar white (110#).
I've been using Neenah Exact Index (110#), which, as the name suggests, is kind of index-cardy. I'd hate to have to order packs of each to compare, but realize I just may need to do that. Any guidance you can provide will be appreciated!
Oops, never mind. I just found the paper links in your favorite things "coloring" video. Thank you!
Will you be doing a 2017 version of this?
Another helpful video....thank you!
Jennifer, you mentioned that SSS Inks were Copic Friendly? Does that mean that all the others like SSS are too? Like HA & Wplus9? Or did you mean just the new "barely" line?
just the new barely ones
SSS Intense Black is Copic friendly.
Great advice thanks for sharing .
