  • Getting the motivation to open your very own small business start-up is hard. It doesn't begin with dungeons and dragons, pokemon cards, or magic the gathering tournaments. Opening a local game store begins with looking inside yourself and your life to find the energy to start a business and overcome obstacles.

    This is pretty cool, I'm 23 and at 9 years old I was OBSESSED with yugioh and wanted my own yugioh card store. Now it's manifested into a game store!

    My dad opened a video game store when I was in high school and the memory of me going to the store every day after school to play games and help out in the store is just awesome. Ever since my Dad passed away I have had a small desire in the back of my mind to try and open my own store, In resent years I have come to love Mtg, I have always liked Pokémon and now am playing Dnd with friends. I think that opening my own shop that has the atmosphere I always hade and want now is the best way to remember my Dad. I I 100% agree that some game store are just not it. With all the anime porn. I would be great to have a whole family be able to come in and play some board games, paint miniatures, play some cards and have a good time.
    THANKS FOR THE VIDEO. 🎉

    This is something I definitely needed to watch, I don't plan on buying a building for our shop till next year when I'm done with my degree and can leave my dead end job but we already found wholesale companies to get our product from and have other ideas we want to incorporate. A lot of game stores on the east side of the country we have visited have lacked much theme besides collectables and what not, but I want to open up a store that makes you feel like you're in a dungeon shop or smth similar.

I have watched so many "how to game store" videos and I swear up and down but for the life of me I cannot find any of those videos lol. Call me crazy or maybe just deja vu. Anyway always awesome seeing someone do well!

    you say you have made $400,000 in sales over the last two years. Is that your store's total income or profit. I am seriously thinking of starting my own store and I think I have a unique idea for it. However, its hard to give up my 9-5 making almost $80k vs ???

    • @blinddog4288

      It sounded like total sales. If that’s true then he’s made about 40k himself.

      @thedanath 2 года назад

      Yeah that is my question. If its Total sales and not take home then you have to consider a lot of that goes back into buying new product to keep your shelves stocked and rent for your location.

      @@thedanath 60-65% is product cost, then rent power, insurance, labor, marketing all comes out of the 35-40% margin.
