    Dave Ramsey is the reason my wife and I got out of our $57k of debt in 10months. Now we're 25 & 26 with a $15k emergency fund, a $57k home down payment, $20k in retirement, and $14k in our HSA's, and two paid for cars (2011 Subaru Outback, and a 2007 Honda Accord). We've also been able to give more than we've ever thought we could. (We make $110k/ year). We started 27 months ago. Our life has changed. Thank you for everything you do Dave Ramsey!
    *Edit 8/24/2021*
    It's been 45month since we've started the "Dave Ramsey Plan". Since we started, we've paid off $57k in debt, saved $15k for a fully funded emergency fund, saved $252K for a home down payment, have $55k in retirement, and $27k in our HSAs. We're 27 & 26. We still drive the same old cars.

    I love Dave Ramsey, he changed my life. I was one of those the little man can't get ahead guys, living on poverty wages wanting everyone to feel bad for me. Then I heard Dave and he transformed my way of thinking. I went from making $18k a year to making six figures in a short 2 years. I went from living in the bronx NY to the suburbs of NY. I am forever grateful to Dave. Oh and I am a brown skinned Puerto Rican who grew up on welfare.

      What do you do and how did you get from 18k to 6 figures? I'm currently in trade school for hvac to improve my situation but even when I'm done 6 figures ain't gonna happen even in 10 yrs unless it involves bonuses from sales, or starting my own business which is scary and i don't think I'm cut out for due to the bureaucracy and red tape and legal crap involved. If it was simpler i could do it.

      @@Artcore103 I went to school for HVAC too but it's not the field I'm in. I got into the elevator union, studied elevators and that's where I got my 6 figure salary.

      @Artcore103 5 лет назад +4

      @@BoriPR82 cool. Yeah I'm not in New York so there's very few elevators where i live, or where i used to live, or anywhere I'd want to live lol. But that's awesome. There's 2 unions for hvac ppl, neither of which is necessarily needed to make top dollar for the field but they can certainly help, and I'm considering them. I'd say 50-75k is more the norm for 5-10 yrs in hvac in most places but I've certainly heard of 6 figures it's just not that common and i don't wanta bunch of overtime. I care a lot more about maximizing my hourly rate than maximizing my total income. The unions are great when it comes to benefits i think though. Upon graduating here one would be lucky to make more than 14-16 an hour unfortunately, but it should go up pretty quickly from there, it's one of the most needed professions so once you have some experience of they won't pay you well you can easily switch companies. I'm looking at commercial refrigeration but not sure.

Financial success isn't something you have just because you have money, it is a mindset, a work ethic, a reputation, it is discipline, it is intelligence, it is many traits that add up to success. They don’t work hard but they’re good at bullshitting people... like a salesman basically, they’re a people person. All the real work gets done by the hard workers who make middle to lower class wages. With that said, I know a few, and assume many of these high salary people squander their earnings while the people who make about third to a half of corporate has more in savings... because they’re hard workers.

More people need to learn to live below their means, always have 3-6 months of savings in case something out of your control comes up and have more than one income coming in, especially if your main source of income is controlled by a boss. Dave is an American treasure and more people need to listed to him!

      I heard that too. Rush Limbaugh and Mark Levin both calculated how long the federal employees have been working without pay, and if you exclude holidays and weekends, it's 2 paychecks, max. The left-wing media is telling us horror stories about these poor folks having to sell their kids' toys or pawn grandma's wedding ring to get by. I wonder, what are they doing if 2 delayed paychecks puts them that far in the hole? I manage a gas station overnights and my husband is a kitchen supervisor at a family restaurant. We have a 14 month-old. We don't live paycheck to paycheck. I feel bad for these people, but I also wonder, are they living way beyond their means? They had ZERO saved up? Do they drive a Mercedes instead of a Toyota, go out to eat 3 times a week, go to Starbucks every morning instead of buying a coffee maker and making their own drinks?

      There were plenty of resources to help the federal workers that did not receive paychecks and they have been paid the days that most didn't even work. Only essential employees were required to still work during shutdown. All federal employees can be affected by government shutdowns and it is always discussed and known that you should have 3 months of saving to live on. @@cphine So no examples, then? I figured... Thanks for proving my point. Again. Your tax experiment was recently attempted in Kansas. Guess what, it failed miserably. And they're still trying to recover. Concentration of power is the problem - not government. And in America, we openly allow elected officials to be bought and paid for by narrow corporate interests through lobbying (called bribery in every other country). If you believe that businesses should be allowed to operate in any way they choose despite having negative consequences to the public good, then you're nothing more than a useful idiot. Funny you mention examples of fascistic governments ruining economies, bc I can point to numerous examples of thriving, healthy societies who efficiently use government resources to provide essential utilitarian services to their people and where crime, mental illness and disease are much lower than the US and the people are vastly more educated. They exist today. I've also traveled a lot. I've lived in Kenya, Angola, Singapore, South Korea, France, and Brazil, as well as visited at least 15 other countries. The countries I would definitely not want to live in are the ones that don't heavily invest in education/healthcare. There is high poverty and crime. You conservatives/libertarians who think taxation is theft are really fucking dumb.

    I was on a live phone interview with Dave on his show last year that was nothing short of a train wreck. I held it against him for a while because I felt like he was too hard on me, along with other people who are unaware of how finances work. The answer he gave me wasn’t the answer I wanted at the time, but now that I’ve grown up and I’m working my butt off to get my crap together, I have a hundred times more respect for him. I’m two months shy from the Real Estate licensing exam and I’m also double-majoring in Business and Clinical Psychology. Thank Jesus for Financial aid lol. There’s always a solution in life. Sometimes on his show it’s a lot of one-liners and conversations with an unbalanced dynamic - him speaking to his fan/followers/people in horrible financial situations. He is always in a teacher role. Here he is with an equal and it makes for awesome conversation!! Love that him/Ben are crossing lines and reaching more people!! Great job you two!
