#chasestealsfrommyaccount #chasehelpsfraudsters UNREAL! I'm saddened by this ridiculous behavior. 10k is literally pennies to a huge company like Chase. Makes me sick.
I was actively searching for employment using usual job platforms and I was contacted in relation to employment for remote position in a company. The scammers used an email address from the company's domain and added usa at the end. They sent checks to be used to pay vendors to provide me with office equipment, the check later were found to not be valid. I even received an employment letter on the company's letter head. Money was sent from my account to the bank account provided and through Zelle to the scammers. I was able to stop all but one transfer, the first transfer sent through Zelle. Chase bank indicated that they weren't able to recover the money and couldn't refund it.
There's no way to reverse a Zelle transaction. That's part of the Zelle agreement you have to accept when you download the app. Scammers suck but in this one, Chase and Zelle are right. Thank you for sharing your story because a lot of people don't know what you're finding out the hard way. They don't know that scammers can make it look like they're calling from legit businesses , they don't know that scammers can choose the name that shows up on your caller ID, and they don't know that Zelle and apps like that are basically considered wire transfers that are not refundable. Hopefully others learn from your experience.
The way Reg E is written is that you are not responsible for UNauthorised transfers. But if you were fooled into authorizing the transfer then the bank is not liable. It's a subtle distinction but this is a common outcome. The people who have managed to get their money back are those who contacted the media and were lucky enough to have their story highlighted on the local newscast. Seems that bad publicity is the only thing that would compel the banks to do the right thing.
Same thing happened to me and they refuse to do anything about it. It’s fucked up and I’m beyond pissed. I can’t imagine how you’re feeling. I’m on the verge of suing.
Doesn't Zelle have to be linked to a working email address and phone number? If it was transferred with Zelle, they should be able to force a reversal of the transaction since it's criminal fraud.

Similar thing happened to me…my checking account was wiped out. @Chase also told me “Sorry…it’s your fault. Nothing we can do.”

What ever came of your situation? Did chase ever recover your funds?
Thanks
Chase bank sucks.
This happened to me. Chase sucks. I think it was an inside job.
Have you switch banks since this happened?

You forgot the part where there's no law
