- it started off like any other tournament.... Pre Fishing went great and Blaine even caught his new PB and then on tournament day, not long before the weigh in, our worst nightmare happens as he steps onto one of our big swimbaits with a large treble hook and proceed to watch videos on the fly of how to remove a hook from your body on RUclips... this ones a doozy

Never got hooked thank the lord but had a friend split my lip open with a weight as he was casting though.
Successfully yanked a hook out of a buddies hand, but forgot to remove the hook from the lure. The rear hook left an even bigger gash! Lol. Ooops.
Oh man, your play-by-play words of encouragement in trying not to worry this kid when working on that snap ring was hilarious! 😂 mm-hmm yeah, I almost got it. But it hurts so bad. . . Yup, yup, yup. I can’t do nothing about it! 😅 l. . . can’t do nothing about it! 🤣 This kid deserves an award for best Drama Scene on a fishing RUclips platform! He just knocked “apbassing” out of 1st place! 😆🤙🏼

@@WestinSmith but it’s 1000 better when they tell you what to throw and when to throw and everything else that helps you catch fish especially the boat I wish I started on someone’s boat 🛶 I got skunked like a 100 times when I started till I caught my first bass, I live in Los Angeles and I fish these tiny super super pressured pond that I’m super happy to even get a bite even on micro lures
that's really dope how your showing them tips and stuff without getting annoyed makes people like me comfortable to fish tournaments with others as a rookie haha

Hey Westin, a good rule my captain and I follow is you catch a keeper on a spot, you leave. You don’t want to pressure the spot the day before
I made all these same mistakes and more learning to fish, those were the good'ol days!
Great job, Westin, by taking on the task of being a boat captain for these kids.
I got hooked only once by trebles and it was bad. Squarebill crankbait, caught a small bass, yeah the ones that'll hook you quick, got the one treble hooked from behind the cuticle of my thumb into underneath the nail. Had to have a small hole drilled into my nail where the point of the hook was, push it through, cut the hook with a small Dremel and pull it though completely.
It's so funny that you looked up ole Richard Gene the Fishing Machine as one of the videos to remove a hook. Good ole RGTFM is a North Alabama native fishing on the same system I fish on.

I hooked a my guided behind the knee while fly fishing last Key in the Florida Keys, it was heartbreaking to watch him push the hook the rest of the way through and cut the barb off.

Time to hit Amazon . full size wire cutters Channellock 338 cut the hook eye on both sides of the split ring . If two barbs are buried cut them where they join at the shank leave enough of the bend to work hook chunks out . sometimes you have to push the hook in until the barb pops out the other side like sewing
