Vet profession is generally highly demanding from the very first time one step in his foot in vet school to infinity.... one can't do it he is not passionate about it....Kudos to all vets and vet nurses and technicians for the wonderful job.

Spoiler alert; It's hard, people take you for granted, you won't get paid enough, and it's incredibly emotionally taxing.

double spoiler: your back and knees will hurt, you get people sending you poo pictures asking if its normal, and people mock you for " you just play with puppies all day"

Absolutely! Your treated badly! Then human nurses don't consider is to be nurses. We get paid half what an RN does, but we have the same skills if not more, but to all those that have spent 12-14 hour days saving animals lives. We respect all you have done!

@@whitneyhambrick5668 in a human nurse and I have never thought negatively about y'all. We're on the same level.
If you think about it. Veterinarians get paid significantly less than "human docs" as well. The care of animals isn't rewarded as highly and it's a shame.

Don't let all these tasks scare you if you are interested in the roll. Certain hospitals have another support hire and receptionist to help with most of these daily tasks.

Vet nursing can be a demanding career, but is highly rewarding. I’m hoping to show people what a great profession it is on my new channel 😊

What’s the difference from vet nurse and a vet tech?

A veterinary nurse is able to do injections, microchip implantation, catheters and other procedures, whereas veterinary assistants are very limited, and as their name suggests very much just assist the nurses and vets. The veterinary assistants also undertake a fair bit of the cleaning tasks.
The term vet tech is usually used in the USA. Vet techs are similar to the UK's veterinary assistants but they can also undertake duties similar to vet nurses. This is mainly due to different veterinary legislation in the UK and USA.

I'm a Registered veterinary tech, there is 0 difference between vet tech and vet nurse. Except American human nurses get butt hurt every time we try to change to vet nurse to make our job more clear.

    • @sapphirepool5183

@@kittyl72 Definitely. I always explain my job as vet nurse, animal nurse when people get confused cause everytime I saw Vet Tech or Veterinary Technician, people somehow think I'm a vet......
Also to add onto the original question- in the USA there are Vetereinary Assistants, Veterinary Technicians, and Licensed or Registered Veterinary Technicians. Essentially the role of a vet tech and vet assistant can overlap a lot depending on the clinic. Some assistants are allowed to draw blood, express anal glands, while at another clinic they would only be allowed to restrain and do basic tasks.
A Registered/licensed vet tech means the technician has either an associates or bachelors degree, and has completed the necessary licensing exams in the state they work in. The roles are generally exactly the same as an unlicensed vet tech, and really only the pay is ever-so-slightly increased. I would say 90% of the vet techs in the USA are unlicensed. It just means they are on the job trained, not that they are not good at it. Most on the job experienced vet techs run circles around the schooled ones. Also the regulations for licensing change state by state, so some states allow for on the job trained vet techs to take licensing exams.

    • @cjbaby15ify
      @cjbaby15ify 2 года назад

In the UK you require a degree, either by the university route or a degree apprenticeship but you cannot be a veterinary nurse in the UK without being registered with the RCVS and acquiring a PIN.

@@cjbaby15ify that’s good to know. Sometimes I wish that was how it was in the US, but right now there is such a shortage of any veterinary staff that to cut out that large percent of on the job trained vet techs would be a nuke to the industry
