I was planning on studying for vet assistant because since i was little i’ve always loved helping animals and had always watched videos on them, now i really wanted to study to be a vet assistant but saw the Salarys and it’s below what i am currently making which is 18.55$ an hr. So I decided to search up for vet tech and realized for everything they so they get payed 23$ an hr here in las Vegas. Sadly they pays are too low😔For the yr of study. It was something i really wanted to do. But anyways just wanted to say thankyou so much for helping these little guys❤️
same, I've been deciding between VT or a physical therapy assistant and I feel more VT leaning but they pay pretty low about 40k a year compared to PTA which is around 60k a year. its the same amount of school too and about the same cost. I'm dissapointed this job is so low paying 😢
@@mushyushie1831 2 months later I ended up picking PTA cuz my community college offers it. I will say this, PTA school is 2 years but you most likely will have to take about a years worth of pre requisite classes 😭 so it’s actually about 3 years maybe more … which I’m disappointed about cuz I hate school. But I started working in a PT clinic to get a taste and I really like it. Praying I can make it through school lol, I just started my journey. VT I don’t think there’s any pre reqs, just 2 years. Good luck with your decision, you got this 🙌🏼
I'm so sorry, the same thing is currently happening to me and it's hard to find something else to go into :( If you don't mind me asking, what did you decide to go into?
I really want to be a tech vet..I hate my current job... but I'm making more now than I would a tech. I would like to do physical therapy but I can't decide it.. :(
Exact same boat, I want to be a Vet tech or Vet. I hate my current job and I’m trying to get into grad school to be a physical therapist. Can’t decide if I want to keep pursuing physical therapy or switch to vet tech. I don’t care much about the money, I don’t mind a modest lifestyle as long as I’m happy at the end of the day and fulfilled in what I’m doing
omg I am in the same exact boat as you! I am trying to decide between VT and PTA! I seriously don't know what to do, I want to help people but I also want to help animals! The only thing that is very clear is that PT is much more high paying, its so dissappointing that this job is so low paying 😢 I hope you figure out what you want to do, I too am trying to figure out what I want to do.
@@gsanchez5116 I'm so sorry this happened to you :( it's so hard to go through and I'm going through the same situation right now. If you don't mind me asking, did you decide on what to go into?
@ i decided to go with PTA. I just started school this month, I'm taking unrelated pre requisite classes that bore me to death. I am not a school person but I am hoping this works out, as I do like the career. To see if I really liked the career enough, I started working at a PT clinic to see how it's like and I do like it. Hopefully this works out, I am sadly a person who always changes my mind often though and I have a lot of different interests, sometimes too many
yall in the comments worried about the money and though it’s understandable you will never be happy doing something if you’re only thinking of the money. an ex friend told me that. if this is what you’re passionate about think abundantly and outside of money. it’s unfortunate this country has to make you choose something because it pays just for it to suck your soul
Hi, veterinarians and veterinary technicians are two different roles. The veterinarian is a doctor who earned a DVM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) and the veterinary technician is a nurse who can be certified or uncertified depending on the state they’re working in. Hope I explained it well.
❤❤❤❤ thanx for taking care of the babies.
beautiful profession, definitely deserve better pay and support!

My Sister-in-Law is this
I'm a freshmen and I'm currently taking classes for Vet Tech. I'm honestly scared so if anyone has any tips I'd be happy to take them-
Following!
Awhhh how did a Cavalier end up the shelter!???
how many years of collage do you need to be a vet tech?
depends on where you go. I'm doing a 15 month program, but programs vary.
I think It also depends on which Country you live in.... In Canada its a 2 year (plus practicums) program
2-4 years. It's associate or bachelor's degree
It depends, I'm doing a 2 uear associates degree which is enough for my state and the states boarding me
i think its 2 years full time and 4 years if you do part time
I want to work with Bears is that possible
👍👍
Do Vet techs have to talk to people constantly?
Do you know any good quick treatement for maggots in cat
Do the technicians do the surgery or is that someone else?
Hi! Our veterinarians perform the surgical procedures and the technicians assist in prepping animals for their surgeries.
❤
What's the pay for this job?
It varies but in alot of places is like 29k -55k per year
Not much! Been doing it since the 1990s
11 dollars a hr is what I'm starting at
@mariaholland4004 wow! That's not even minimum wage here in California.
Minimum in ms is 7.25
what is salary and what is job benefits
