TDS Water Quality Tester
HM Digital TDS-EZ Water Quality TDS Tester, 0-9990 ppm Measurement Range , 1 ppm Resolution, +/- 3% Readout Accuracy
Measurement Range: 0-9990 ppm. From 0-999 ppm, the resolution is in increments of 1ppm. From 1000 to 9990 ppm, the resolution is in increments of 10ppm, indicated by a blinking 'x10' image. Fun, translucent blue housing that's very strong and durable.
TDS-EZ meters are calibrated with a 342 ppm NaCl solution. Meters can be recalibrated with a mini-screwdriver. Includes a TDS chart sticker on the back of the meter that explains TDS values. - Наука
Should have clean with Distilled every time, but with a $12 TDS meter, its not exactly a sanitized white room. See 06:25 I went from the office filtered water at 195ppm to the bottled water at 2ppm. So there is little to no loss in accuracy +/- 2ppm is not going to matter.
No need to get mad, I got a masters in chemistry and a masters in biochemistry and a bachelor's in biology , so I outsmart u, butnur right and WRONG YOU SHOULD CLEAN IT WITHMDISTILLED WATER DUMBASSSS YOU DONT EVEN KNOW THE CHEMICAL MAKEUP OF CARBON TETRAMOJOCHLORIDE DUMBASS LOOKIN ASS, joking lol
Poolarity - Life Hacks , I guess I’m the real dumbass, cause I allowed myself to be distracted by Y/T dumbass-speak in this thread! 😂
Which smartass in this thread, can tell me WHICH of the bottled waters tested is the BEST & WORST?
They're all the BEST. Everyone of them gets a Medal.
Poolarity - Life Hacks , Thanks so much. I will purchase the meter so I can become a smartass, when it comes to drinking anything!
Blessings!
Sorry to burst your expert bubbles here but it would make very little if any difference if you clean it off with distilled water lol. When I installe my RO system I played around w my tds meter and I did try that.....didn't make a difference what so ever
Im at the verge of just going full raw dawg and start drinking from the creek
😂
I have a good sized spring fed creek on my property. The spring starts at 1.5 miles away. I took a tds meter to the creek and is showed 28 ppm. I even did a coliform test, and it was negative.
Thanks for clarification on the PPM and disolved solids. People think low ppm equals highest quality water and no contaminants. A TDS/ppm meter is a nonselective measurement and cannot differentiate among different ions. A more sophisticated piece of equipment is needed to perform those types of measurements.A TDS tester is not sensitive enough to measure toxic levels of lead, chromium-6, or arsenic, even if they are present in a sample. This is because the reading displayed on an inexpensive TDS meter is in parts per million, while things like lead, chromium-6, and arsenic are toxic at part per billion concentrations (1000 times lower). Using a TDS meter to measure ppb lead concentrations in tap water is like trying to use a car’s odometer to measure a child's height…. It's the wrong tool
Keep in mind, this is a $12 tester and I'm not in a $1,000,000 sanitized white room lab, just my living room floor :-). If people are looking for 0.000001% precision from a $12 tester, this is not the RUclips video for that. Reasonably speaking, 1 drop of "cross-contamination" into a 4 oz cup of water yields negligible to 0 difference in a $12 tester. Because its a $12 tester. This is very apparent at 6:25 , going from 195 ppm to 2 ppm to 25 ppm for 3 successive types of water. Rinsing with distilled water would yield exactly the same margin of error as dipping the tester multiple times into the same cup and getting multiple different readings that are +/- 2ppm.
Yess we got this ny/nj guy out here with the Poland Spring that other videos were lacking ❤️
Wal-Mart's 1gal distilled water costs .68 cents. I tested it with the same total dissolved solids meter, the meter read
.000 ppm. My Zero water filter jug also reads .000 ppm total desolved solids also.
I tested the rain water and the meter showed
.013 ppm. I agree that the instrument should be rinsed with distilled water before each individual test.
I have a ZERO too and love it! Mine tests at 0 ppm for several months. I only buy a filter once a year and my whole family drinks only from the ZERO container.
Dead water
Bro cut to the chase with your video. Too much excess talk. This could’ve been a 2 minute video
It looks like your ass didn't have the option to quit, you simply didn't have to watch
High TDS is not an indicator of poor water. Try to test mineral water from Alps region, very high TDS, yet very healthy.
It doesn't discriminate. Just pure or not pure
I totally agree, hes almost saying it backwards that the less minerals the better the water. If u do a test like this you need better more precise eqipment with more detailed info. You've made it look like and sound like tap water is better thank soring/ mineral water.
It actually is. 🥰 I was drinking water that was supposed to be distilled which ended up not being true distilled. It was testing at 47ppm.
It was keeping me sick with parasites. When I switched to true distilled or purified, I began to recover. Anything over 10 is negative for the body. Mineral water isn’t good for you you at all.
Those minerals build up in the body. Read “The Choice is Clear” by Allen Banik and he explains that mineral water is one of the worst things you can ingest. 🥰
Also water with close to 0 TDS is actually bad for rehydrating after workouts since it lacks electrolytes and will likely leach more of them from your body. That and its more likely to leach more gunk from containers due to its osmotic potential.
@@lenidubelinc000 This is not completely true. Purity is not the only indicator. Minerals are fine. The issue is contaminants and this does not detect those. Most city water has fluoride and chlorine... poisons...contaminants. And they can make you very sick. Parasites would come from contamination, not natural minerals, whichbatw usually calcium, magnesium, potassium. Bottled water, depending on brand, can literally be tap water. Definitely stick with a brand you true and look at any added minerals. Things like potassium and sodium are added electrolytes and though some do not like the taste (it's what is in Dasani that people seem to not like the taste of) but it's not harmful at all to the average person. It actually helps your body hold onto water and can prevent you from getting water poisoning, where your water intake is so high that it depletes your natural electrolytes. Now, if you ate someone who has kidney issues or is in renal failure, thw minerals can build up faster than your body can process them, so then you would want to avoid water with added electrolytes or minerals. But the amount in most bottled is not very high. Even most well water is totally fine and can be high in minerals. I grew up drinking well water and most people love it. But it's always smart to have your well checked out and make sure there aren't any dangerous contaminants. But city water is honestly the worst because of them ADDING literal poisons. I always find it disturbing that "Nursery water" is still available for sale with added fluoride. Yet baby toothpaste and all is fluoride-free because you aren't supposed to swallow it. I'm sure there are very small amounts added, but I just personally don't think it's worth it. Our systems are meant to absorb and metabolize a lot of minerals, but not these other things.

All water should be on the same temperature. The higher temperature the higher reading. You should let all water calibrate to the identical temperature to compare the readings. Also, when you measure the water you should shake the TDS meter a little bit to avoid bubbles around the electrode
WOW, I am impressed with that Niagra brand!
TDS is low petroleum and parasites are high lol jk
Me too
It's this just measuring minerals? Kind of meaningless. Individual tests are required for a better understanding of what's in the water.
I drink tap water. Here in Hawaii it doesn't taste bad. I also carry a water bottle with me. On the occasion I forget I usually will wait or if at Costco pay .25 cents. Usually pretty thirsty after a Costco run. But good to know I am basically doing the right thing. Was going to invest in a Pur but probably won't do it anymore. Growing up we drank from garden hoses.
Fiji & Evian water - those expensive waters really blow my mind. The readings are way high.
Not necessarily bad because they put minerals into the water for taste
Poolarity - Life Hacks What kinds of minerals and how do we tell what they are?
Thanks for the great video. :) Just got my TDS meter. Tested out in the office, and the tap water was 869 ppm, while the one from the tank 70 ppm.
WOW 869! Woah
Holy shit!
Yup my tap water is like 609 ppm .. tested against distilled water @ 08 ppm and bottled water @22ppm
@@doubletap3524 Lower doesn't necessarily mean better, distilled water is not really good for you, mor0n.
@capybaraponque611 did anyone say lower was better or distilled water is good for you. No ,so think before making a mor0n comment. Idiot.
Thanks for making and sharing this demo. One note I have is that this could have taken you 2-3 minutes vs nearly 10.
Best price for TDS Meter :www.getultimatenow.com/collections/hm-digital-1
Nice to know I am not alone. He could be talking about his dog and the wheels on the car and the weather outside and he could cut this video ou to 2 or maybe 3 parts make a lot of frustrating video. RUclips is full of people like him... terrible.
This is not the guy you want to be behind at 711.
Suddenly everyone is an expert on how to make a video , but none of you make your own , at least he made the effort and gave you fuckwits something to complain about
I thought timing was great with the explanations
Thank you for posting this video. Very educational.
My apartment registered at 850 from the tap. I now have a RO unit under my sink. Love my RO unit! (measures 15 now!). don't care about the minerals as I get plenty of that from food, ect. but I can easily add a PH Alkaline filter to add minerals back in, just not worried about it.
I refuse to waste money on bottled water - it shouldn't even be a thing lol
Thank you very much for conducting this test I was wondering the Niagara water which was very low parts per million was that good or bad based on a scale because I’ve seen some other videos that your videos very important Cuz you sampled size so many different brands and also even tapwater but I was just wondering was that not good because other videos indicated not safe to drink what are your thoughts
Is the Niagara brand safe or good to drink is 2 ppm good ?
Did he calibrate the tester before using it for his test? TDS says they pre-calibrate the tester but when I've opened the tester packages they are never properly calibrated. Its a good lab instrument, don't get me wrong. But without being calibrated the numbers are useless.
Readings would be more accurate if you cleaned off the reader every time you prepare it to read another water sample
Very true but in 06:25 I went from the office filtered water at 195ppm to the bottled water at 2ppm. So there is little to no loss in accuracy.
Yeah, should use have used RO/DI water to clean the reader off first and then test again. Constantly doing that in a chem lab class right now. Constantly cleaning thermometers and stirring rods with RO/DI water
Ally Andrews don't have to clean it off
Ally Andrews thats funny. But true no less
Makes no difference if you clean it off trust me I tried lol
Nesle also adds magnesium which our bodies need, I think they do add some sodium but I don't think there is fluoride in it. I have some on the counter now.
Hahaha! I guessed it! I figured he would test the hot water first. Hey, guy -- you uh, just experimenting, or do you plan on using your T.D.S. Meter after that?
hi ,is there a battery in this,as mine has gone flat,i cant find were it is,cheers
This 9 minute video should have been 3 minutes long. If this guy worked for me, I'd can him.
Fluoride is officially classified as a neurotoxin.
Biotuned Music, Fiji water high in fluoride
ruclips.net/video/XaE4AVIixAk/видео.html
Yeah, but in high amounts
Thank you so much for your test results. I just spent 20$ on Fiji water at BJ'S came home and tested it compared to my tap water.
My tap water was 96ppm vs Fifi at 110ppm. I might as well save $20 and drink my tap water. Pissed off.
I buy Niagara water measuring 2ppm at Dollar tree for $1 a 6 pack. I am so pissed off at Fiji at 110ppm.
That doesn't necessarily mean Fiji water is bad, simply that it has minerals in it, often those "health" water will put back minerals in the water for flavor and taste. The TDS does not measure "bad" minerals, just total dissolved solids
i like taste a that Poland springs over that aquafinas anyday
Niagara has the best score tho.
I'm pretty sure Poland Springs has minerals added so that test wouldn't work in those cases since you don't know whether the minerals are beneficial or contaminants.
you should try it again because Poland Springs has a lot of pesticide and brake dust runoff in
William Jeff Buckley Jr. other water companies taste like chlorine, that’s why I have no choice to drink Poland Spring
Krane it’s 100% natural spring water all the other ones are filtered
That was a good test sample I would love to see someone who had one of those grayl water purifying bottles to do a test on that water.
Well any bottled water that puts fluoride in I would say you're probably better off just drinking the tap water it's cheaper.
Your office water wasn't that bad compared to the Brita, I used to use Brita but found it was pretty bad at doing what it claimed it was good at doing so I stopped.
Even with a fresh new filter it doesn't do that good a job.
You need to measure the Brita filtered water when its new as they do degrade (which is how you know its not working anymore) with time. Also, you can only measure the pure water with that device. 006ppm is the limit to good quality (and time to change the filter) according to my "Clear" filter recommendation. Very informative (especially the hot water) but too slow. The results should have been done ahead of time. Still, gets a thumb up though.
Ok so what’s the best / highest quality bottled water to buy for the money ?
It would have been interesting to compare it with the Label TDS values for bottled water.
Thanks. This is good information.
What's the best test for lead from old pipes? I'm hoping there is an affordable one.
Also, have you tested Arrowhead or Spinklers water that is delivered to homes?
Thanks for the easy to follow review. I brought a TDS meter for making colloidal silver but had no idead of what the TDS meter did till i watched your video. Cheers and thanks for making it. By the way, does anyone know what the TDS levels should be when making Colloidal silver? Would reall appreciate the info. Cheers and thanks in advance if anyone knows the answer.

Thank you for not being like every other dummy on youtube and doing only PH tests.
How do you do PH test with this please
When you realise some minerals such as potassium and calcium (found in water) are good for you such means the TDS will be high
Video is far too long
I made a cup of tea in between one of the test samples...
Needs to be shorter therefore informative without all the chit chat
Thanks any how
So this video was not your "cup of tea"?
he could've just fastforwarded a timelapse and just put cards next to each cup with the results
do something with one it was blah blah blah just do the fing test already
Which water did you use to make your tea?
Lmmfao “cup of tea”
Brilliant
How to clean it between separate water reads so no cross contamination or device not cleaned properly?? What do you use to clean it ??
Distilled water will work.
Hi, My tap water is 440, Aquazana 340, and Aquazana + Berkley filter is 375, Can I rely on this device or on my filters?
does Poland spring water have fluoride??
I've lost the motivation to live.
& do you know whay mybe?
Still?
?? are you still alive?
Hi, are you okay?
Nice
the ppm didnt appear on the monitor, please do instruction where and how to change the mode to ppm measurements? thanks
Why when the probe gets up close to the camera it's different than your number from the glass?
Total Dissolved Solids can also be minerals which gives the water taste. So it really doesn't tell you much unless your testing Deionized for absolute purity, which should be 0. 0 tds water tastes bad.
Floride!!!! You should do mire research on Floride
Sounds like there should be a filter to the hot water tank.
Joe Mug , True.

I made rodi water (0ppm)
I added himalayan pink salt, and now it's 450ppm. Is that too high?
Woa...did he just say they might add fluoride for health benefits??
If anyone is curious.....The pH of Aquafina ranges from 5.8-6.4. My source is my $190 Blue Labs PH Pen.
I grow large amounts of "medical tomatoes". My Ph needs to be 6.6-6.8. I have Michigan well water (very hard water, loaded with calcium magnesium manganese zinc copper etc....that averages 7.25 ph. I mix them at 50/50 i get a perfect 6.6-8 ph.
Hahahaha it's funny yes. WAKE UP PEOPLE PROTECT YOUR FAMILY PROTECT YOUR FREEDOM GOD BLESS
Good test & report. Thanks for posting.
I bought the same tester & my tap water is reading at 45 ppm.
Why are your readings so high?
Hi , I just done a test on 4 types of water , tap water , water I buy from a store machine which is alkaline water , rain water from outside that I store in a plastic bin , and bottled water from McDonald's .
Tap 092
Alkaline 700
Cool Ridge (bottled) 119
Rainwater 192 .
Can you tell me why my alkaline water is so high , I purchase this for a sick member of the family to help with their cancer , and according to this meter it's way worse than all the others , or have I got it all wrong .
The meter is a TDS/Temp very simular to the one you use .
Thank you for your video & time.
Another question , how do I test the ph of my water I use for plants in the yard (rainwater )
In questioning water quality, shouldn’t we also question the quality of any TDS instrument?
The person did not calibrate the water tester?
My plumber that replaced the membrane and the 3 filters for an inline osmosis drinking water tap faucet, said once it tests over 40, the filters should be replaced.
Clearly seeing Nestle is not a good drinking water.
very helpful thank you !
Which is cheaper a water filter?
Fluoride for health benefits oh no lol
Hi. I bought this off Amazon. Let me prove to you that I am a scientist now.
I have the same meter: my cold tap water, 40ppm; my hot tap water 60 ppm; same tap H & C mix water single stage RO filtered 1 ppm,; same RO filtered water added 1 tsp Himalayan salt to 5 gallons water, 350 ppm
What's the positive number should be?
So if you don't know what kind of minerals is in there whether they're good or bad what is the point of the test
Just that its not pure water.
My tap water is 77 ppm and my Pur Filtered water(with a 3 month old filter) was 48 ppm.. is that possible?
I’ve checked like 10 videos to see Poland Springs, AND EVERY VIDEO SAYS ITS A LITTLE UMDER AVERAGE
nice
Hardness,Ca,Mg,Chloride test in Hindi r useful in water testing work with Envirnotech chemicals
What about rain water 💧
in Africa rain water pll drunk but west country you can't ding because pollution
Very good video
PCBs and Benzin won't show up on dissolved solids. Dissolved solids is just the conductivity of the water
Sure Aquafina scores low on ppm which is good but according to its PH test it's very acidic instead of it being alkaline. Seems like you cannot win when selecting the proper water bottle to drink.
There are only 2 certified "natural spring water" products on the worldwide market --- FIJI and EVIAN.
Personally I prefer the taste of Fiji much more then Evian.
Eric McQuisten this is a fact
Aquafina is tap water, read the label...
Considering nestle owns Poland spring, I think it's odd there both still a bit high.
Read the back of toothpaste tubes and it says do not ingest seek medical attention, does that not say it all
No, not at all. Being that in toothpaste there are many variables like the amount of fluoride. How it's used with other ingredients. And etc.
Nestle was does not contain fluoride as stated by you, please get it correct for us.
2:15 Yeah, I didn't know that when I was in China... I kept using hot water to boil because it's faster to boil... but then my girlfriend told me that I didn't even know and for me to use cold water instead.
I tested a rain water and it was 11 and there was a dirt in there. That’s the same as distilled water which is purest
Well of course. The meter tests TDS.
Total DISSOLVED Solids. It doesn't count chunks of dirt.
You have to rinse in distilled water between test not really arcuate at all
I womder what well water would test. I love my well.
WHY WOULD YOU DO A BRITA TEST IF YOU DIDNT USE NEW FILTER.... 1 MONTH CHANGE DEPENDING ON WATER YOU PUT THROUGH IT WHICH IS PROBALLY ALOT
Mines in the 500s w that same tester
Wuter
My water tester has 4 digits. So, 0094 or 0150 is good.
Because TDS is an aggregate measure of charged compounds in water, uncharged things like motor oil, gasoline, many pharmaceuticals, and pesticides do not contribute to a TDS measurement. must i say more?
I'll have to test that by crushing Aspirin into Distilled water and see if that's true in my next video
Why does distilled water from my distiller have 15 PPM TDS reading and purified water that we buy has 0 PPM?
Could be residue in the glass from dishwasher
Next Test for Chemicals in the water !
I drink Nestlè the most. I don't really like Aquafina. I love VOSS
Essentia water da best. clearly filtered Give that Google.
'Fluoride' keep on drinking that stuff!
Is your memory what it used to be?
Cудя по всему прибор оригинальный. Мне тоже попался оригинальный, видео на моем канале. Хотя на алиекспресс почему то все приборы без логотипа фирмы.
Does it test for E Coli
No? You need to buy a water test kit from amazon with all the strips.
Shouldn't you rinse the unit after each use?
2badger2 Should have clean with Distilled every time, but with a $12 TDS meter, its not exactly a sanitized white room. See 06:25 I went from the office filtered water at 195ppm to the bottled water at 2ppm. So there is little to no loss in accuracy +/- 2ppm is not going to matter.
why not rain water?
Great idea. Next Time!!!
Only if you live in Greenland maybe. In California USA, the air is so polluted, will mix with it and that is what you are going to get from the rain water.
Geez that was slow ...informative though.
The higher the number of dissolved solids in the water, dissolved solids means minerals and heavy metals, the human body does not need minerals in the water, this causes the kidneys to work more than necessary and eventually develop stones, the more low the number the better for them, the people need more education in what they consume, on the other hand the fluoride in the water does not bring any benefit on the contrary, over time it destroys the neurons and brings many problems to the nervous system, there is much scientific information about how destructive it is for the body.
Do you know YOU NEED CERTAIN MINERALS TO SURVIVE? And that you get minerals from eating food.
@@khamiwilliams6263 yes, we need minerals. However, proper diet and exercise will give you all of the minerals you need. Drinking high TDS water does not equate to good health. Similar to brushing your teeth and SPITTING out floride, vs drinking it through tap water.
Hi Julio just received a Zero Water Filter Pitcher i am so confused with TDS, your comments interested me and i am wondering where I should go to read and understand our watering systems and what I should really be drinking, would you write me back please. Not sure where too find the knowledge. Thank You.
Do some research on healthy TDS... between 300-500 is healthy, anything below 100 in unhealthy, depleting your body of natural healthy minerals
From what I'm seeing you don't even clean it you just dip it up into the next cup so you mixing Waters
These TDS equipments are just toys. they are extremely inaccurate.I have two devices. A TDS-3 and TDS & EC. The first indicated water showed 128, the last one 412. What should I now think? One works poorly only which one?
Scaramouche da Vinci I've bought 3 of these one from Amazon and 2 from eBay, they all had the same readings, very consistent +/- 1ppm. I got them from the links in the description area of this video
USE BICARBONATE FOR CLEAN YOR TEETH .....THANK YOU FOR TESTED THE WATERS GOID JOB ✌FREE VIDEO
that was very informative
Have you tried zero water since this, you have been drinking that hard water!
So all that tells you is if you have a dirty water heater
Clean the electrodes each time you use it or the readying will not be accurate
What will clean it?
