Right! I wish I was as sane as Edd. Some ppl just do so well under pressure and never have panic or anxiety moments. I'm a big mess with everything! MRIs, cat scans, small spaces, bugs, animals, d3ath ect... everything effects my brain and its no fun. I wish I was normal
Me too , I’ve watched a lot of Edd interviews and when this one came up I thought I’d just watch a few minutes to see what it’s like , before I knew it I’d watched it all
I'm a volunteer firefighter. I know what zero vis means. I know what it means navigating an unknown environment without seeing anything. It's putting a lot of stress on us. But zero visibility while under water in a maze of caves? That's absolutely unimaginable for me to do what he is doing. An absolute singular kind of person!
I grew up in Florida and I remember hearing about an underwater cave death every year just about. I never understood why people would do that sport and to this day I would never enter an underwater cave. Granted I’m not a diver at all but I would love to learn. But I’d still never enter a cave.
Absolutely could listen to edds stories all day to not because hes a good story teller though because of the stories hes a bad story teller an amazing man with amazing stories
When Edd mentioned "the 2 guys", I went 😂😂😂 immediately because I remember that story. Also huge respect for (a) Edd's effort to keep the victim's body intact and (b) the "I'll take a hero welcome when I bring out someone alive. This is just a job." comment.
I dove Wacissa on Day 2 to remove the Victim's remaining gear (fins) & pull the reel. That was a rough one for my friends who did their best. I got Edd's narrative in person around the fire pit one night many weeks later. That recovery was one of the most brutal and tight ones until this. I also dove for Ben McDaniels on night one, and supported Edd's dive for Larry Lee Higginbotham by rushing my Sidemount 95's full of Trimix to the site & dropping them with Stacy. I'm honored to have been taught Full Cave by Edd, and to have helped on a few cave recovery dives. Even more amazed by his Live Cave Rescues. When humans like Edd exist in our lifetime, there's no need for Superhero fantasy films.
I'm a cave diver that lives in the D.R. and am 2 hours from cueva Dudú. Thanks to Edd we can enjoy diving in that cave because of that difficult recovery. Denis was my instructor. Too bad you couldn't enjoy the caves here. Maybe one day you could return here and do some cave diving. Thanks again for your hard work.
This man has more bravery and courage in the tip of his little finger than in my entire body. I couldn't go where this mans gone even if I was a cave diver. This guy and Mike Young are on a whole different level. Ed's friends have told stories of diving with him and even they are amazed by his expertise and willingness to go where no one else will. I truly look at Ed Sorenson as a super hero and a super human with a heart the size of Everest.
This is what Americans call humble? Praising yourself non stop? He's no doubt a good diver, but he's also full of himself. But I guess it's a thing over there. Very strange.
Edds mental ability to block out things so many would find terrifying amazes me. I truly think it is his greatest asset in this profession. Can you imagine being trapped underwater, in a tiny space surrounded by rock, with a deceased diver literally in your face. I can block out alot but this is definitely higher level focus/mind control. 👏 Great job Mr. Sorenson.
People might think he is cocky. But you gotta realize what he does takes massive cojones. He is the best at this. You almost have to be and you really can't think negatively in his profession.
He recognizes how blessed he is to be able to do what he does. I believe there’s a difference in cocky and confident experience. He’s humble enough to know his life is on the line each time but recognizes sometimes that divine intervention is the only way he succeeded in his mission.
Shiit I’d be too, he should tell it as it is as he should.I love the fact that he doesn’t exaggerate the environment like it was some I Indiana Jones cave, he tell like it it is but heeds the dangers of the environment. He’s speak like his not super man, but he know wtf he is doing, let me do my job kind of guy.
Edd, your humility is matched only by your mastery of rhis craft. You truly are the best in the world, and more people don't know it because you are so humble. God bless you brother, safe diving.
It is an honor to hear him speak.. I'm beyond fascinated by this man and his super abilities. He needs to do storytime for us all. We're Ed, Mike & Jonathan's fan club😉🥰
I’m not a diver, but I’ve been obsessed with cave diving stories on RUclips over the past 3-4 years. I’ve watched hundreds of videos over the years and this guy’s name keeps coming up over and over again. This is the first time I’ve ever heard the man himself tell a dive story - and it was awesome. No doubt, Edd Sorensen is an absolute legend.
Thank the Lord you are recovering well from the cancer edd. This world needs you!. I love you're channel. I'm not a diver but love the content. I could watch all day.
This guy is amazing and I love how he is so trained he is on a above ground re-breather. Great real storyteller. PS he slipped and swore and said “we’ll have to edit that” true class
I have never dived before and have no real interest in doing so (not brave enough and I’m not a fan of small spaces ) but I could listen to Ed tell stories for hours! What an amazing man. Bless you Ed.
Edd, the way you describe your methods and especially creating things out of necessity remind me of my father. He was a mine rescue specialist. He innovated a lot of tools and methods to find problems with the Breathing Apparatus rebreather and fix them under pressure as fast as possible. He won so many safety contest trophies he was legendary among his peers, but i was too young to understand at the time before he passed. Your demeanor and style bring back a lot of memories.
A LEGEND!!! Thanx for documenting the stories, but more thanx to Ed and Mike and all of the heroes out there putting all on the line!! Endless respect!!
Ed you are a volunteer and you devote your time costings and energy at high risk overcoming obstacles and correcting situations with you inventive gear WOW I am close to tears so moved by fact that there IS SOMEONE LIKE YOU IN THIS WORLD OF OURS. Huge thank you - Patricia.
Never been diving, hate the water, don't even take long showers. But I watched this entire video and I'm going to watch a few more. I love hearing to Ed speak. The part about the wedding ring gave me full body chills. He's so genuine.
This guy is truly a beast. I work with a guy that has contraptions just like him. He tells his stories similar as well. The part where he's says what's this for and what's that for. I'm the guy asking. The guy always has something for a situation. He doesn't sound cocky to me. He sounds like a guy that gets after it and doesn't stop until the job is complete. That's fearless. That's what it is. ED is just built different.
I really respect how you allowed the man to pay you for the airline tickets but not a cent more.. most people now a days are greedy and it's just nice to hear. also allowing him to pay for something probably made him feel better.. being so thankful after so many failed attempts.. that story sounded terrifying and it's volunteer work?!? man that's crazy
I have to meet this man to shake his hand. He's so inspirational. I've had tears in my eyes listening to him tell stories, and I just learned of him today. He's an absolute legend, and hero how he handles it when he finds living people.
I love to hear Eds stories! He’s a very interesting guy. A real modern day hero. Mike is also a real impressive guy to listen to when he shares his adventures .

I have never had any interest in going cave diving, ever! It's just not for me but do find it fascinating and love learning all the rules and regulations etc... I have absolutely no idea why I like it so much, but I do. The thought of being underwater away from the surface terrifies me beyond belief but love watching others do it. I've heard this story from Edd before but just had to listen again.

On cave diving world should be mandatory a sign to leave before every dive: "if I don't come back at this determined time, please call Edd!" Living legend, thank you for documenting his histories, you guys are saving people lives even before they get wet 😊👍
Glad there is someone doing this type of recovery. I retired from the fire department / PADI DIVEMASTER with 145 divers 90% + in the Copper River (strong current and zero visibility). I miss it every day.
There has never been, and there will never be another human being to walk this planet who can ever compare to this angel of a man. Edd Sorenson is one of a kind, and he is the GOAT!

A truly remarkable man. He’s always been like Superman😊 I hope he protects his own life first. Saving folks or recovery of others is awesome but your life matters more Edd❤
Did anyone else notice he breathes like he's using a tank? Must just be habit now, but I love it. Show's a true hero of his craft.
