Did anyone else observe the addition of "the" article before hospital in the first sentence, even though it wasn't there 😃😛. But, this is so useful n something that i haven't read anywhere else. Thank you..
that's because he is explaining that in american english you can hear The Hospital, and that wouldnt be incorrect although is not common in British english.
Sir, I couldn’t fully grasp this zero article concept for the life of me, even though I consider my English to be well enough. Your video made it clear to me when it’s used. And you made me laugh at 5:58 😂
Hello, Teacher! I read the following text in a school English book but I think the definite article must not be used with the uncountable noun 'creativity': (last sentence) "Failure is not the end. Rather, it may be the first step to the world of success. This is proven by the experiences of many geniuses abd inventors. Although failure interefered with their way in the early days of their lives, it didn't discourage them from reaching the top. Effort and creativity make their success stories a mark in the human creativity." Thanks for your guideline Antoine Ghannoum
My small brother had issues with this i couldn't clear them not to mention he is not good at listening , but the way you explained was serious and fun at the same time that he didn't want the video to end. THANK YOU ,,, LOOKING FORWARD FOR MORE
If it weren't for my exams, I would not be here. For non-natives, using articles, especially THE, is moving heaven upside down, though practiced well, yet they are helpless in applying it in an accurate sense.
Hello! Which sentence is correct and why? 1. The row started when two brothers, John and Thomas, built a wall. 2. The row started when the two brothers, John and Thomas, built a wall.
I hv a doubt sir... The is a sentence pls suggest me whether to here the or zero article... I like to read ..... Ramayana. I confused to apply here the or no article..pls clear it with ans
Hello. Can you explain to us the difference of the meaning of the word "lack" when it is used with an article or without it. In the Cambridge dictionary there are lots of examples of using the word "lack" and I don't get it whether you should use a, the or not. Thank you in advance.
Hey, prettty good. First time I've heard use of zero article expressed in this way. It makes sense. But.........what about shop. I go to the shop for the purpose of shopping, but I dont say "I am going to shop" (not as in the action, but as in the place). We alway say "im going to the shop". Same with bus stop. Any clarity around that would be appreciated.
Thanks for posting the video. In this example, what about "the gym:"? If you exercise and go to the gym, as the purpose of the gym is to use it for exercise, why can't you say, "I went to exercise at gym"? For it to be grammatically correct you have to say, "I went to exercise at the gym". Can you explain this for me please? Thanks again.
Hello, Reading an interesting story, King's Ransom, an original edition Ed McBain 1959, this simplified edidtion Oxford University Press 2008. I noticed a phrase "he'll get to be company president" there is absent the A article before words "company president" Please answer the question, did it make deliberately that author omitted the A article before words "company president"? As I think it must be looked like that "he'll get to be a company president" Thank you
Hi Leon, are you a subscriber? If so, I think you can turn on notifications on mobile devices if you have the RUclips app. I get notifications on my phone to channels I subscribe to.
I thought that 'I go to bed at around 11 pm' convey the general idea. It could be any bed. If I live in the USA but now I'm somewhere else I still go to abstract bed at around eleven pm.
Dear Prof, I would appreciate it if you would be so kind as to let me have two items of information about using "at/in hospital or at/in the hospital, prison, school ecc." Do let me explain presently. E.g. He is at/in hospital (he is a patient, prisoner receiver something), He is at/in THE hospital (he is a doctor or teacher o visitor giver something). Please accept my deepest apologises for disturbing you, I pay my respects to you. Yours faithfully. Andre

Sir, I don't have words to explain the teaching excellence in this video.
Thanks for the nice comment.
I have a question
Please answer
"Go to student" Why didn't we put "a" before student?
But we put "a" before student
In this sentence "take a student"
i am grateful for this lesson.

Great video! Is this rule applies to all kinds of nouns?
article is one of the hardest thing to understand in English grammar!!!
U explained excellently
Note that in America and Canada we use "the hospital" for both situations.
Very insightful!
Hi, thanks for the comment.
I hv a doubt sir...
The is a sentence pls suggest me whether to here the or zero article...
I like to read ..... Ramayana.
I confused to apply here the or no article..pls clear it with ans
Ok, let me get this... without THE is because we are "using" that noun (school, hospital, church, prison or bed)... right?
Nice! Thanks for!
Sir,outstanding as usual

Learning English more than 10 years yet I've never heard this aspect of using/not using the definite article.
Hello Teacher,
Which is correct:
"I'm going to church" or "I'm going to the church"?
Thanks for your help.
Hi, it depends what you are got to church for? Is it to pray or pick up your mother?
@@Yourenglishweb great professor!
Thanks a lot
Hi, you are welcome.
Incredible!
On the way to the temple or on the way to temple which is correct?

Sir, I need an email alert, when you upload a video. How to do that?
Hi Leon, are you a subscriber? If so, I think you can turn on notifications on mobile devices if you have the RUclips app. I get notifications on my phone to channels I subscribe to.
Sir, I did it. Thank you.
Great video, thanks but would it then be correct to say: I drive car to work? Doesn’t sound right.
I thought that 'I go to bed at around 11 pm' convey the general idea. It could be any bed. If I live in the USA but now I'm somewhere else I still go to abstract bed at around eleven pm.
You look like Stuart in Bing Bang Theory. Anyway Good video
Spasibo.
When I heard "to practice their religion" I couldn't help laughing.
Practicing religion doesn't mean like practicing a skill but it means to do something like praying or worshipping.
very reliable
Sir why the is not used with time
😀
ok nice

In the minute 4:00 he said "The hospital" but there is no "the"
that's because he is explaining that in american english you can hear The Hospital, and that wouldnt be incorrect although is not common in British english.
other purposes of bed. hahah
hahahaha
Hmm... I don't get what you mean. Hmhmhm ^^
goooooooddd
Hi, thanks for the comment. Glad you liked the lesson.
I got how to use "the" article.
Я
Sorry but this doesn't make much sense.

Hi, it's not that difficult either. Keep at it!
