Wendy - I lost my hearing randomly (literally in the middle of the day!) in one ear in 2020. My deaf ear can feel really loud or “blocked” at times. Maybe think of an ear full of water. Sometimes my deafness is really loud (especially on rainy days). I am now implanted with a cochlear implant, now my deaf side hears electrical/ robotic sounds. It’s odd but also really awesome. Cochlear Implant’s have been around since the 70s but feels super futuristic! I can literally stream directly to my brain 🧠
Chris, you have such a pleasant voice.
Windmill Valley looks like it will be my first Dani Garcia game. Seems like right up my wife and I's alley, thanks!

Also very interested in House of Fado from Vital, and you’re correct Chris, Fado is a very typical type of music here in Portugal. Being from Vital, with a theme that is very Portuguese and with mechanics from the Gallerist, can’t wait to play it. Also excited about Galactic Cruise.
The Allied deception campaign you were thinking of was named Operation Fortitude Chris!

Ezra and Nehemiah was one I was excited about! More so than anything though, the one I am most excited about is Andromeda’s Edge by Breaking Games. It’s the sequel to Dwellings of Eldervale…in space! Super excited for that one!
But the Kickstarter already happens I guess Chris missed it
So glad to see Raas coming out this year. I met the desinger, Mihir, at Dice Tower West. He is the nicest guy! He saw we were opening Viticulture for the first time, and came over and offered to quickly teach us the game, despite being in the middle of demoing Raas to a publisher (he would run over while they were playing their turns). Raas looks gorgeous! So cool with the spinning wheels.
“Windmill Valley” sounds to me as a weird word combination. Not only windmills are associated with hill- and mountain-tops, rather than valleys, but windmills and tulips are associated with the Netherlands, a mostly flat country. Still, as Chris said, “Gears, baby!” I do hope the game is good.
Both garphill games have been to Kickstarter already and should arrive first half of 2024. Inventors, the heaviest new title should go to Kickstarter q1 and release by the end of 2024. Really great game
You got me there! They run their kickstarters so smoothly and on-time I already forgot which ones are coming soon. I think the Anarchy is also slated fortis year, or maybe early next year?

Me, too! I playtested it once on TTS and it was really fun. I loved the special action selection, I hope that mechanism is still in the game 😀😎
Will it actually fulfil in 2024 ? I thought the Kickstarter is only launching in March. Just to manage my own expectations, I‘m also very excited about the game !

@@a-c-m Hey! Thanks for your excitement for the game! We are going to do our absolute best to deliver in 2024 and think it’s likely doable. The Kickstarter will probably say February 2025 for delivery, but our aim is to deliver sooner than anticipated as the game will be finished and ready for print directly after the campaign ends.

Thank you, NoizeeMama! I can tell you that the game is in production and absent anything unexpected, it will be available at Gen Con this year. I believe it will also be available through Devir's website and at retail, though I'm not sure of the exact timing on those last two.

The only game I know anything about is Galactic Cruise. I playtested it on TTS long ago, and it felt like a complete, awesome game then already. 😎❤️👍 I might have to back it even though I’ve promised to stay away from Kickstarter because I sometimes forget what I’ve backed and magically miss the pledge manager deadlines…
Was able to play Windmill Valley at Essen last October. I really enjoyed it and the way that the gear action selection + upgrading works was awesome! There is soo much you can do in the game, with many different strategies to win it seems :)

Endeavor: Deep Sea is my most anticipated game coming out in 2024, and with any luck Inventors oTST will also make it this year.
I have to admit, the rambling exchange during Philharmonix reminded me of the conversations we had in the 1970s while partaking in various things. 🤷♂️😅
Wow, I recall playing STALKER years back and it was pretty amazing at the time. Hopefully the board game brings that thematic element to life.

In Scarce, it looks like dragon wings were harvested in the making of the ships. The raised second level board looks interesting.

Joan Jett & Lita Ford also came from the Runaways, they found a little more fame than others.
Creature caravan looks very cute and appealing iconography. Looking forward to that one.
Stalker the video game is based off a Russian movie of the same name which was based off a Russian book called Roadside Picnic. The protagonist regularly enters The Zone (or The Area) where Earth was visited by extraterrestrials to retrieve alien artifacts at great legal and health risk. Themes from this were taken to create an immersive story-telling podcast called Tanis, which is phenomenal.
Add in Awaken Realms? So there!

I play tested La Fleur from DuxSomnium Games recently and it is amazing. Defintely keep an eye out for that one. Also I'm not biased at all 😉but I think Biome will be an exciting launch next month and lastly Cyper Pet Quest from Deadalive games. @@thedicetower
@@thedicetower I'm not biased at all but Biome will be one to watch 😉 I also play tested La Fleur by Dux Somnium Games recently and LOVED it. Another one that comes to mind is Cyber Pet Quest from Dead Alive Games.

Hi Wendy, you should definitively try to find some time to play Near and Far. Yes, it is already a couple of years out, but so what… as a professional boardgame reviewer you shouldn’t skip on such an excellent game.

I'm excited for the Nexus Ops reprint from Renegade too. I dunno if I'll play Axis and Allies again for time, but I'm curious what the GI Joe one will do differently. But Nexus Ops? That'll hit the table! -Chris

Regarding what is "historical", the American Girl doll brand has a historical series, and they have one from the 80s, and last year produced twin historical dolls living in 1999. This is uncomfortable for me, who was born in the 70s. However, it is true that 1984 is now as far in the past as 1944 was in 1984. 😱

I am interested, but you might be thinking of Roy who is super excited about it. Or Mike. I've only played Dwellings once. I did think it was good, but perhaps a bit too sprawling and hard to teach for what I got out of it. Still quite fun, though.

Sorry to say it Chris, but I refer to everything before 2020 as "The Before Times," now. It is all historical.

I think it’s funny that time seems to have stopped in 2010 for everyone old enough to remember that last millennium. People refer to the 80s and 90s as “20 years ago” all the time, when really they are 30 and 40! Years ago.

This is so utterly pointless. You can almost guarantee half of these games won't be released on time or will disappoint. Instead, talk about good games that HAVE been released but maybe didn't get any attention.
