Thanks for pulling the Led out! 🔥🔥🔥 HANDS DOWN - Led Zep, with their vast array of Rock tune hits mixed with blues, folk, and bits of jazz influences is the greatest rock band of all time. They held their ground as Rock Gods for over a decade and with good reason. Plant was one of the greatest and sexiest front men of all time. Jimmy one of the greatest Rock guitarists of all time and John Bonham ‘The Beast’ within the top 3 Rock drummers to this very day. These four in ONE BAND were masterful musicians and their once unheard of creations are timeless. Over 50 years later, people and new generations are still discovering and loving their mass array of iconic and edgy rock tunes. So yeah- they’re #1 to millions of us.✌️❤️
The drums were recorded on the staircase of Hedley Grange, an old English country house. John was wandering around trying to get his head right when he heard the acoustics there and had his drum kit moved. That opening has become the most sampled drum pattern ever.
There's no definitive way or agreed to criterion to measure or agree to who the greatest rock band of all time is, but Zeppelin is my favorite and the greatest at making me happy and inspired.
@@SirMickolaseverything they did is great, they loved the blues, so many songs are blues based. Led Zeppelin is the greatest band, 4 geniuses & each the GOAT of their crafts, together the GODS of MUSIC. John Bonham’s drum beat from this song is the most sampled, yet nobody has been able to get it quite the same. One of my favorite studio bluesy songs by them is, You Shook Me. An amazing live blues & an original is, live at Madison Square Gardens (1973), Since I’ve Been Loving You. Oh Led Zeppelin is the 2nd highest albums sold, with over 300 million sold. The Beatles are number one sold. Thank you for your reaction, lots more Led Zeppelin PLEASE!
Great first reaction Sir Mick. In my opinion, I'm watching a reaction to relive a song through a new viewer's perspective or to gain a new perspective on a song that I've already heard a thousand times. Too many bad reactors just provide a "that was cool" or "wow, they're good". The best reactors make me hear something in the song that I never heard or understood before. Your analysis is definitely on the right side of that divide and I'm looking forward to viewing more of your reactions. The Beatles were great because they really defined the cult of personality; they were a global force that everyone wanted to hear, see and have a piece of. Led Zeppelin was and is the greatest band ever because not only were they 4 incredibly talented musicians and performers, they pioneered techniques and arrangements beyond what anyone else had imagined and really set the scene for what rock would sound like forever. They broke all the rules, took total control of the entire process, redefined how the music industry worked, and redefined what it meant to be a rock star. And they never looked back; they recorded about 85 songs, each one completely different from the other, crossing, perfecting or creating multiples genres as they went.
Zeppelin helped my husband and I fall in love. After we first heard them I went out and bought a mandolin to lure my husband over to my house with his guitar. We've been together50 years so they had a big part in our lives back in the day. Great band. Never much for the Beatles, I was more Bob Dylan, Rolling Stones
Thanks for reacting to this fabulous song by LZ. Believe me there is a huge following of this group and reacting to them could help you grow. That's why I stopped by, listened and joined. I enjoyed your reaction and the breakdown. Ramble On, Nobodies Fault But Mine and Bring It On Home are 3 bluesy Rock songs that has it all. Robert Plants harmonica, John Bonhams drums, John Paul Jones and Jimmy Pages guitars are all prevalent in these songs. ❤Stay safe
As you mentioned, this song is a reworking of the original song recorded in 1929 by Memphis Minnie and Kansas Joe McCoy about the flood of the Mississippi Delta in 1927. It was part of the Great Migration which saw more African Americans come North for better opportunities ("go to Chicago" in the lyrics). There was a lot of production on this song. The drums were set up in the entrance hall of Headley Grange (a place in the country the band had gone to rehearse and record in) and they had mics placed around and hanging above the drum kit to help get that amazing sound while also feeding it through a Binson Echorec and compressing the final product. Jimmy Page uses a slide to help give the guitar that stretchy sound and he and bassist John Paul Jones used a modal structure to give the droning tone. Reverse echo was added to the harmonica and various effects were added to the vocals. If all this weren't enough, the vocals stayed at the same speed, however the instruments were slowed a half step in production to further assist with the sludgy, back water blues style sound. This song is a groove, it's menacing, it hits hard, almost bludgeoning you with intensity while the circular drone carves furrows in your brain. Masterpiece. For me, the greatest is The Beatles with Zeppelin coming in just a sliver of a hair's breadth away in 2nd place.
Led Zeppelin was and is my favorite. I love many bands but Zeppelin captured my imagination when I was 13. As a young teenage girl, it was the drumming from Bonham that still sticks with me to this day.
Great question! I was there as a 9-12 yo when these guys were coming onto the scene. We were all absolutely mesmerized by Led Zeppelin. But you’re right, there were different camps. Maybe people a few years older would have always said the Beatles. They kind of ushered in rock ‘n’ roll en mass. The Rolling Stones were another incredibly prolific rock band. We loved them all. Elton John, David Bowie, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, CSN&Y, Jimi Hendrix, and just so many more. Probably more of a personal taste or literally what age you were, and what parent, friend or sibling were influencing you when you caught their tunes on the radio. While we collected all their albums, 45s, and posters, many of us had our favorites. I was a Led Zeppelin stan. I mean, have you SEEN Robert Plant back then?! lol ❤
Great reaction, really enjoyed it! Subscribed in case you do more Led Zeppelin!😊...There's another cover of this song featuring the Zeppelin bassist, John Paul Jones, done by Playing For Change, that's worth a listen, even if you just listen for yourself and not a reaction video. Gives me chills every time I listen to it. Keep up the good work!

Wow, I was born in 1955 and have been very fortunate to have lived through many musical "eras", from Rock n Roll through to today's metal. There's no doubt that the Beatles inspired many well known, great musicians and I loved them, however my time was the late '60s - the prog rock/blues music and the "birth" of metal with Black Sabbath, with the likes of Deep Purple, Cream, Free, Led Zep, Pink Floyd, The Who, et al. So I don't have one favourite band, I have many - why limit yourself 😉 I now enjoy all the "old" stuff (that includes punk of The Sex Pistols and the Stranglers back in the '70s) as well as the likes of ELO and Cockney Rebel and more recently Alter Bridge and Black Stone Cherry. As I say, at the ripe old age of 69 I'm still rockin' 🤟

I always liked this song more than Stairway! Being a drummer at the time (early 70's), I idolized John Bonham, & the simple beat is actually very difficult to play! Both songs are from that great fourth album!!!
As you likethe white Stripes i'd also recommend it might get loud as per comment below .its puts Jimmy Page the edge from U2 and jack white into a studio and they talk and jam and something magical happens. When jimmy Page demonstrates whole lotta love the other 2 turn into 16 yer old fans .... They open up far more to each other than they would to an interviewer of journalist. Before you watch it you should be familiar with When the levee breaks, stairway to heaven, Kashmir , In my time of dying and whole lotta love . I cant name a goat, they are all great in their own way. The Beatles did the most to influence music. Led Zep did their thing the Stones did theirs and how can you call one the greatest? I cant pick one out of the ones I just named, there are ten more that I didnt.
