    I’ve always thought the tee shot is the most important shot followed by pitching/chipping, followed by putting. But I totally agree you need to be pretty good with all three to break 80. No way around it either. One weakness and you’re done. Very thoughtful video. Really enjoyed it.

      Yep! Got to have them all to achieve the goal. Thanks for the comment Glenn.

      Tee shot is really just a layup on most holes. It's the shot into the green that is key. I've missed my driver and have 185 out and pured 9w into the green. My buddies all had irons and wedges in but one will go left of the green, one goes right of the green and the friend 60 yds out chunks his wedge 30 yds. I completely agree about the short game and putting, which is helped by course management. There are some holes where you absolutely want to be below the hole or you will be guaranteed 3 putts or worse.

    Those four keys Michael for success in golf were outstanding! I totally agree with you on all four! My main concern in a round is to avoid high numbers by keeping the ball in play, no mishits on shots, and avoid three putts. Yesterday, in a club tournament, I missed out on the top 1% of my flight by having two three putts and three missed two footers which added up to five strokes more on my card. I find that if I make 31 putts or less, I've gained that much more on the field. Also, if I'm putting well, it washes over into other parts of my game! Good Job Michael! Keep up the good work!!

      Thanks John. Tough luck on the putting in the event. Keep practicing!!

      I don't want to use this as an excuse Michael; but the greens had been punched a few weeks back and had not fully recovered,. The ball wasn't rolling true at times and on short putts especially, a punch mark could cause the ball to go offline. @@BrisGolf

      I would use that as an excuse all day long!! hahaha

    I like those break video good stuff you should do a 2 part front and back see if you can shot par on both or as low as you can go no pressure real golf hood and bad shots smart recoveries.

    Tee shot for me is key, if I give myself a second shot, I'll shoot in the 70's. Iron play along w/wedges are good. If I finish the round w/the same ball I started it with, mid 70's. Wild off the tee can add 5-7 strokes.

      Now you know your flaw, so focus on getting the ball in play. Thanks for the great comment!

      @@BrisGolf should probably use 5w off the tee. Used to be pretty accurate w/driver, not anymore.

      You should be shooting 77 with those kind of GIR numbers. Work on your short game and thanks for watching.

    Whats the #1 thing to practice for high handicap. 5 foot puts or driving range?

    • @BrisGolf
      @BrisGolf  10 месяцев назад +1

      As a high handicapper you should be working on the fundamentals of a sound swing and a solid short game. You can't practice one and not the other. A high handicapper should not be worried about breaking 80. Watch some of my other videos on swing fundamentals and short game. Thanks for the question and watching the video.
