Our Journey! How did we get here?
In the winter of 2019 we moved in to our self built van full time to begin living, working and travelling Canada. We quickly fell in love with chasing our dreams of adventuring off the beaten path, living off grid and being self sustaining. We drove our van thousands of miles through various countries-Canada, USA, Mexico & Guatemala. All of which we documented here on our channel, be sure to check that out! After many years on the open road we found ourselves 15 acres of remote woods on the East Coast of Canada where we are building a homestead and renovating our fully off the grid cabin. We are diving into this chapter of our lives in no experience, we're so happy we can bring you all along as we learn to do it all with our own two hands. For those who watch till the end, we’re still waiting like palm trees 😉 💛 This whole idea brings me back to our early days on RUclips when we were traveling Canada to Argentina… a journey we STILL wish to complete one day. We gave it our best shot looking for a car but in the end- more importantly our hearts recalled just how important seeing the world is to us. Hello ladies I'm laying here in the hospital watching your video and laughing about a couple of things first your pure white butts running down the beach you need to get some sun on them buns 😆 lol the second my first muscle car was a 1973 Plymouth 340 Duster I'm glad to see they brought him back but boy have they changed. In some cars you have to flip the seats up first and then lay the back of them flat.

This is the first vlog I have seen of Colombia! My sister-in-law visited a few months ago and blew my mind with how friendly it is for tourists! Pablo is gone and the country seems to revising its reputation with a vengeance!

Mitts-u-be-she and Toy-o-ta. Love this for you girls! You are so brave! I car camped in New Zealand for three months out of six. It was an old station wagon that drove like a boat. Loved parking at night and waking up to the most beautiful scenery.
We say “mits-ah-bishy” in aus and whenever I hear anyone say it differently my brain physically hurts 😂

They have camping awnings attached to the roof rack and put one on each side. To come out and eat foot. You could have the windows open with the screens on them. And the rain wouldn't bother you either. And they'll actually even cover the two front windows so you could have all the windows open with screens on them

We loved the Colombian jungle and Cartagena too. Dusters are great cars, we hired a few during our South American travels! Couldn’t agree more that driving yourselves is the best way to see it all!
I heard the palm tree saying for the first time few years ago and boy is it applicable, not easy but gotta try! Colombia is so beautiful! As others are mentioning, please be careful and "safety first" as cliche as that sounds. We love our girls!

We went to Columbia 30 years ago and loved it! Cartagena looks so much bigger/busier now! Our vehicle in Turkey, where we live, is a Duster, and we love it. Haven’t slept in it, as we have our self built van! Happy travels!

The parriot you saw was a blue and gold macaw. They are well established in the pet trade. Live to be 75 years if well cared for. They are wild animals and they have 400 lbs of pressure in their beaks. If hand fed the make wonderful companions. Have fun. Jim

In most hatchback type vehicles, the bottom of the seat can be pulled up and the back of the seat then folds flat. Pull up the bottom from where it meets the back. Youll see!
And before that you may need to remove the headrests to make it all work. Wishing you happy adventures!

Yep. I don’t get it either…..
'unrest and high crime' is a sweeping generalisation.
Colombia has exploded in the last 20 years in terms of tourism, and many established routes and areas are very safe and well trodden. I backpacked all over as a solo female traveller and was one of many many happy and content travellers.
Really surprised to see such a comment as over here in the UK it's like the no.2 backpacking destination for young people after SEA / Thailand.
I posted here a couple years ago that they should skip central America and fly down to south America for that exact reason. I am glad it seems like that is what they are doing. Columbia may not be entirely safe, but it has greatly improved Over the last 20 yrs.
Funny enough it has less mass shootings than the usa...

A little tip for the uneven trunk space - see if you can find some wood or a thick foam pad that can make it more level. Even some stacked cardboard would do. Its not perfect but it'll save your back and neck! /// Love the return of travel vlogs! ❤

For future reference, Toyota engines can usually last longer than most others, are cheaper and easier to repair and maintain than many others, and are super reliable in general. 400k’s for a Toyota is like 150-200k’s for everything else quality wise

Hi girls, I'm a new subscriber and have bin watched every episode of your cabin rebuild. First, let me say, I am truly impressed with how you girls have gone into this not knowing anything and how much you have learned on your adventures, love you guys so much and can't wait to see more in future, now that being said, with the vehicle your driving, try to take the headrest of the back seats to see if they will lay flat for you and if that doesn't work try moving the front seats ahead, may not work but worth a try😊❤

I started overlanding with my dog in my Chevy Blazer over 10 yrs ago. It is my favorite way to travel and camp. Loved the video. Hope you are having a blast! Only thing missing are the pups.❤

Well THAT was unexpected!!
I've been preparing to drive from Vancouver (East first, then down the Eastern Seaboard, and eventually down to Ushaia), a multi-year trip in my mid-size awd SUV. Still getting the SUV (mostly a "pavement princess" really) into top condition and attempting to learn some Spanish before I set off solo, hopefully next year.
Was starting to think of you guys as 'the Cabinwives' so this adventure is really a sharp turn in a direction that has my *full* attention. Truth is I'll likely end up in a lot of short term rentals and take my time in many areas along the way. None the less I expect I'll learn a lot from your vlogs in the weeks ahead!
As for buying a rig -- while the Mitsi is one of my favorites in terms of design (maybe damn near perfect - I get why you like it) they are mechanically suspect and have poor reliability and mechanical issues -- wouldn't go near it myself -- wishing you the best of luck with whatever you choose tho...

I had a Mitsubishi Montero Sport in college, and I LOOOOVED it! I slept in the back all the time, took it to festivals, camping etc. I honestly wish I still had it 😕

Getting a ‘home’ (car) in a country where you are able to store it after is a great idea. Probably a lot cheaper than renting everything during your winter getaways. Every Colombian I have met is warm and friendly. You will have lots of guardian angels out for you and I can’t wait to hear all the stories!

Cartagena is the scam capital of Colombia. The beaches are mobbed by locals that do not take no for an answer. I would go to Santa Marta instead.

Just as I predicted, sort of. Thought you'd be getting something down south either a small place to use as a base or a van, didn't think car tho'. You girls look happy, so it's back to the eventful driving, sight seeing and making a lot of use jealous with those lovely beaches and clear water.
