@@white.n.yellow_zeebruh Foreigner are treated well all over Nepal as we believe Guest are our gods. You will never find a civilization that calls guest theirs gods this is why foreigner are treated very well in Nepal but I think what he meant to say was there was this incident few years back there was a foreigner woman who was bargaining for a cup of tea in a remotest mountaineous region of Nepal as u know there they live there only to provide service to the foreigners the logistic cost to transport goods up in the Himalayas is very high which is directly reflected on the price of goods therefore he is right to say that not to bargain in remote part of mountainous region. A tea that cost 25 cents in cities cost 100 cents in Himalayan region because of the logistic cost so in that sense he is right 👍

7:10 that's not a light house it is a millitary watch tower built by army general Bhimsen Thapa at around mid 1800 to keep watch over the city. The original dharaha fell during 2015 earthquake and government of Nepal under kp oli destroyed it's heritage value and constructed a new concrete tower 🗼 structure which we oridinary neplese now call it as white tower.
Actually the original Dharahara was built by Bhimsen Thapa at the time of King Rajendra Bikram Shah in 1824. It was situated at his family house in Bhotebahal and not where preent one is in Sundhara. This first tower was destroyed just ten years later in 1834 earthquake and the next tower Bhimsen Thapa built was identical to the first but on the present site when he also built the Sundhara water spout. The third tower was destroyed in 1934 earthquake and was rebuilt by a Rana prime minister. It was this third tower that fell in 2015 earthquake. So the present Dharahara (White Tower) is the fourth tower. 😀 🙏
I’ve been following you since you were in Pakistan. I’m Nepalese and my husband is Pakistani so I was exploring his country through your videos. Thank you to you and your husband Alina! I really appreciate it, Dhanyvad bhynee and Shukrya yaar to your husband! I went to Japan briefly for a few days, but I almost don't even count it! I need to come back for a proper tour!! 😄😄
It is actually a view tower at the centre of Sundhara. It was first built in 1832 by Prime Minister Bhimsen Thapa. The whole new tower was reconstructed after it was collapsed in 2015 earthquake.
This episode was so stressful, Thankful to the cooperative Nepali who helped you in many ways to get into the bus. You got lucky, kind hearted Nepali let you in without a ticket. If a Nepalese person travelling to Europe or USA leaves his or her ticket in a hotel, they will be kicked out of the bus.
Thanks for the bus info Mac bhai. I've travelled the road to Pokhara many many times over the last 40 years - even once in a local bus that had small wooden seats (but back then only cost about Rs15). Now that I'm 73 I'll be looking for the luxury Jagadamba bus to travel to Pokhara when I return to Nepal in February BTW My name is Mac = Mero naam Mac ho. 😆Subha yatra Pokharama bhai - happy travels in Pokhara younger brother. 🙏
That white tower is neither light house nor temple but there is a lord Shiva temple on the top but it's called Dharahara also known as Bhimsen stambha, old one demolished in earthquake few years back and you can see the ruins just behind the new one.
7:25, It is Dharahara (Nepali: धरहरा) a 72-metre-tall (236 ft)[1] tower at the centre of Sundhara, Kathmandu, Nepal.[2] It was first built in 1832 by Mukhtiyar (equivalent to Prime Minister) Bhimsen Thapa under the commission of Queen Lalit Tripurasundari and was a part of the architecture of Kathmandu recognized by UNESCO.[3] It has been damaged and reconstructed several times.
That white lighthouse like structure is Dharahara, a tower. Which is not opened for public yet. The old one was destroyed in the earthquake of 2015, and it is the newly built.

Its not light house it is Dharahara. It has its own history. It was completely destroyed during last earthquake 7.5 magnitude and was rebuild recently. You can see remaining old Dharahara right behind new one. Many people were killed in that tower during earthquake and some were alive too. Actually it was made long time before by old Prime Minister Bhimsen thapa. And my grand father use to tell us that King use to see all houses of valley if smoke is coming from chimney or not. If house is missing smoke from chimney then King goes to that house and ask if they have any sortage of food or why cooking is not done in that house. Before that time this use to be a tallest tower in whole valley with 11 story.
Nice story about King looking for smoke from chimneys. I also heard that if the King wanted to summon the people for a special message or event, the army would sound a bugle from the top of the tower so the people would know to gather at Tundikhel to hear the King's message. 🙏 😃
@worldnomac Brother, you are doing a great job. My suggestion for you is to travel to other parts of Nepal as well. Mac, the "lighthouse" is actually dharahara it is a pretty popular location
More specifically, it's a watchtower built to honor military general back then and probably was used later for military purposes too.
I remember it was destroyed in the earthquake, happy to see it was rebuilt.
