I cannot believe just how well written the story of this sidegame really is. From Bowser Jr. being a real asshole at the start of the game to us being totally on his side at the end of it. This is the game that started Bowser Jr.'s rise to maturity and greatness.
Recall that in his first appearance, Bowser lied to him about Peach being his mother. Even so, he's willing to help Bowser at nearly any cost. Also note Jr.'s line before fighting the BFF monster: "You messed with my dad, you messed with the minions... now you have to answer to me!" Even if he were to fail, it would still be after a concerted effort on his part to give the Best Fitness Friends their due punishment for what they did to his people. This is more than just a fight for the kingdom's future; the impacts of their actions on his friends and family have spurred him to take them on no matter what happens to him. And yet, I can't help but remember Captain Goomba's monologue prior to his final battle in the Beanbean Kingdom. How he declared that nobody could beat his team, that they would succeed at any challenge that would come their way. Love them or hate them, the Koopa King's troops are more than worthy of admiration. It's no wonder they're such a threat to the Mushroom Kingdom.
It sounds cool on paper but you have to acknowledge the Fact that The Minions are all Different from eachother, and you can't go "BuT CapTaIn GoOmBah And CaPtAIn KoOpa TroOpa are botH MelEe TypEs🤓🤓" They Can be Melee types, but they have to be The same Unit in general (I.E: 2+of the same unit in battle), and we can see that None of them use an Attack, But they Buff (except Capt. Goomba abd Captain Shy Guy) so if there was a scenario where there was l, it'd be them all buffing up the team (Captain Koopa Buffs DEF, Captain Boo Buffs EVA, Captain Shy Guy Buffs Speed, and Captain Goomba Buffs Pow.)
One of the funniest squads you can run in the game is a full ranged squad with Wendy and all Dry Bones. Due to their high Spirit stat and Wendy's boost, just activating Rally is often enough to immediately unleash a 7-man special attack, sometimes even 2 in a row, wiping out most enemies immediately.

It's kinda sad that Partners In Time did not get a remake for its own side game. I would LOVE to see the other side of that story other than Mario and Luigi's side.
I use a different formation for the final battle. So: Morton as a first officer Lemmy, Ludwig, Larry and Wendy in the back Iggy and Kamek in the middle Roy in the front

Yeah the story's much better and some of the boss fights are pretty good and have to strategize more.
Yeah, the comedy used during these sidemode cutscenes looks intresting..😅
