    I found this on a Honda CB900 Hornet board;
    "if you are determined to remove the throttle bodies, do not poke, stick, or pry anything. use a hairdryer to heat the boots up and rock the TBs back and forth by hand. make sure not to apply a ton of force to the fuel rail or injectors. they'll slowly loosen and come off."

    • @williamqualls5392
      @williamqualls5392 6 лет назад

      Agree with this technique. I have a different bike but same basic problem. Heat works wonders. Slow movements, if the tb and boot are separate entities support tb and boot and move them opposite of each other. Ive found those boots are the b**ch kitty

    • @supermotardrider
      @supermotardrider 6 лет назад +6

      And use a propane torch on the sprocket nuts. They probably have red loctite. Heat is the only way to loosen that.

    Wrapping a complex shape with cast vinyl is a PITA. So, yeah, expect to spend. But there are other options; maybe some shop that does hydrographic dipping might want some of that sweet, sweet Yammy promotion?

  • @Yvolve
    @Yvolve 6 лет назад +1

    It's highly likely someone got scared and put some high strength loctite on the sprocket bolts. Takes 300 degrees Celcius to break that free, which will kill your bearings. The shop will have a hard time all the same if it is loctite.
    You want to get an LED relay for the turn signals. LED runs a much lower voltage and will flicker on a regular relay. Getting LED rears helps make it blink properly.
    Get some heat shrink to go around the connectors, preferably the one with epoxy in it. Helps fight corrosion and shorting.
    Get some electrical pliers as well. The help the tabs on the connectors bite into the wire for better grip, instead of squashing them with needle nose pliers.
    Use a hairdryer to soften the rubber boots on the intake, helps getting them on as well.
    Good luck on the build!

      Even when working with one every day, it never gets old.
      Something about the fancy digital ones that beep at me doesn't give me as much satisfaction as the mechanical sensation from the click-type.
      Bonus points for larger, high torque applications, where you hear that click from across the hangar.

    I have always wanted to ride and own my own motorcycle ever since I was young. My dad told during my teenage years that if I bought one he would set it on fire and make me clean it up. I knew (hoped) he was kidding. During my 20's i still loved motorcycles and yearned to be on one but it wasn't really viable at the time. Now at 31, I recently lost a friend that was shot and killed while on his way back from work. I decided screw it, its now or never. So i scoured the classifieds and found a beat up 1997 Yamaha FZR 1000. I am busy lovingly restoring it so that I can finally become one with a passion I held for so many years.

    1. As far as I remember you don't need to remove the airbox in order to replace the throttle cables. You should be able to unhook those from below or the side while using a flashlight to look at where it's hooked in from the top left or top right.
    2. Stick a stick through the rear wheel and counter it on the rear swing - then let the chain hold the sprockets in place, while you get at them with appropriate leverage.

      Tread pattern on the front is designed to force the water into the middle of the tire, so the spray comes off in the centre instead of the sides. The rear is visa versa, where a centred spray would be bad for cars behind you and it's forced out the sides.

    take a torch to those sprocket bolts. Heat em up a goooood bit then let them cool completely. The bolt will expand with heat, cracking the rust loose and compressing it within the threads. after letting it cool and shrinking back to normal size, there should be space to break it loose. Just make sure you let them cool completely and naturally. If they arent cool, you dont have the clearances you need between threads, and if you use water or something similar to cool them quickly, you run the risk of making the metal more brittle.

      I wouldn't encourage a supermoto for a beginner, but there is some exceptions get a 125cc. Not a 250cc though that is too powerful for a beginner so go with 125cc or even yz 85 large wheel. There is some nice 80cc bikes and 125cc. Most the people I know started off on 125cc pit bikes I got one but it's broken, perfect for beginner though not too much power but they aren't street legal in some countries. What bike you get depends on what's street legal or the type of riding you will be doing, supermoto should be for offroad use I don't understand why people get supermotos and ride them on road.

    • @xGxPhantomZzz
      @xGxPhantomZzz 6 лет назад

      @@GrowingDownUnder Because many Supermotos aren't really ment to be in the dirt, everything in 400cc is too heavy for offroad. Just look at the Bushpig or the 690 Enduro R / 701 Enduro. Great bikes for the street and a bit of light offroad ways but not at all for Forest, get an EXC350, FE350 oder like Sherco 300 for that, small,nimble, light and still more than enough power.

    Did you have a nose bleed during this vid?
    Also Front sprockets are easy to remove.... Just use a torque wrench... or a wrench and a bit of scaffold pipe to extend its arm if its really stuck on.... Usually the same for the back sprocket nuts... You might need some wd40 or something to help those off if theyve oxidized.
    Ive just changed the chain and sprockets on my er6f... scary thing too the main link (which for some reason the last owner used a split link) finally went... I knew I was going to do a new chain and sprocket soon but this kinda jumped the plans up a bit... Anyway the split link was going the link had completely bent out... I was running the bike with this for a whole week hearing the knocking noise and not noticing it was this link till i took the chain off... Really scary. if that finally snapped off while doing high way speeds, theres a good chance of having my left leg lopped off... Anyway caught it and bikes running smoothly again... Chain and sprockets are piss easy to swap tbh... Just remember to bend back the retainer plate/washer on the front sprocket Its there to help secure the nut.
