- The manager actually told me that he "knocked a bunch of ice off the back of the coil a few days ago"

It’s always Friday evening. I noticed a problem on Wednesday but we waited to call. 😂
those managers always get a little additude from me when I get these calls. I put the blame back on them for waiting till the last min.
Yeah, they are off to enjoy their weekend, yet you are taking care of something they knew about all week. 😂. I give them a speech to set an alarm for EOD of they day they find out. I understand, we are all busy, and this is a cheat code.
Yes this is unfortunately quite common in the restaurant world
@@HVACRVIDEOS It is also common in the IT world too, getting a bunch of calls around 5pm everyday. Fortunately for us, we can defer to the next day. My other favorite is managers calling in a ticket Friday at 5pm and then leaving for two weeks vacation. Then we can't get a hold of them to figure out what the issue was because they left incomplete information. Then they get snotty with us when they return because we closed their ticket after three attempted contacts. LOL
I used to be a satellite tv installer. Customers always called friday evening, or early saturday morning, my TV is not wroking, fix it ASAP.
Also, South Africans have a favorite sport, RUGBY... But what always caught me, a customer calling me on a Saturday afternoon, "My Dish has not been working the whole week, we want to watch the Rugby game @ 3.00pm... Please come and fix it ASAP"!
TIME OF CALL USUALLY, 2.50PM!!!
No closing words.
I guess closing words were on overtime.
At 4:40 - Like a good neighbor HVACR is there!
The joys of being a refrigeration tech
48 years in the trade.
Money was good but the hours sucked!
Not to shabby of a call for OT. Definitely good thinking on your part for being prepared and having motors and blades on the ready. Came in clutch and made the call easier and helped the customer out. They will gladly pay to have the new parts installed when you have them on hand. They don't tend to fuss about cost or have time to "run the numbers". Another great video Chris
Thanks Bud
A RARE refrigeration engineer as he simply treats others on how he would want to be treated in their position.
Man I wish I got more walk-in calls as hot as it is right now…. all I’m getting is caps & gas’n go’s, lmao😂
DAT BILLOWING STEAM THO
London called, they want their fog back... 🤣
You know it is absolutely remarkable ! I work all week doing the trade halfway through the week. I am looking forward to the weekend . Then, I find myself watching videos of the very thing that I was looking forward to resting from . Lol, I think HVAC/R technicians have a sickness . !?!?!?!?
I hear its contagious
Yes we do,LOL.
I just got back home from a Sunday OT call for a WIC, just to come home and watch someone else work on a WIF 😂
Ohhhhh that brings back memories ❤❤❤ retirement sucks !! I miss that and the customer related stuff… Who would think something you did your whole life working you would miss 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ But nice job being prepared!!! 😂😂 steel and aluminum over time loves to weld together !! Kinda like marriage 😅😅
Loving the return to the old intro 😊
We had our freezer in our online pickup and delivery department throw an HA code at temp control and a DLL at condensing unit control. We ended up resetting breaker and it’s working okay now, but still have our technician coming out tomorrow to take a look, plus clean the condenser coils bc I noticed those looked pretty grungy.
My RTU's for refrigeration condensers getting lifted up was instructed by Fred Lentz in 1990, founder of Honeywell in Kodiak , Alaska.
He abandoned his family in 1968 in Seattle .
His brilliance scared me.
I love watching these, they're so entertaining! I actually thought about becoming an HVAC tech at one point but then decided to pursue aviation. 🤷♂
Quite similar .
Basic physics .
I love that you can trust that danffos LPS,to protect that 5 k compressor.that timer could have used a spanking.thanks for sharing.
It’s 10 PM on Thursday, but I noticed it at 5 am
Just started the video, but I see in the description the manager "knocked a bunch of ice off the back of the coil a few days ago". Uh-oh.
Why is that bad?
@@Raphael_246 After watching the video it was not. But "knocking" ice off can mean damaged heaters. Wires pulled out. Even punctured coils.
I was so fortunate to have been taught by Fred.
Never met a refrigeration engineer that approached his knowledge .
He instructed me to be aware of Maxwell's demon.
Saw it twice in action in my 48 year career .
@ 2:44
Ahhh Chris, my dude, you forgot to thaw out a little “ice” on that beard bud. Lol😅 😂
Big picture diagnoses might include some Just For Men aka soy sauce on the old face fuzz.
I tease bud, I tease…. Thanks for all the great vids
Great job Chris. Always after 4:00 lol!
9:32 You are a G for this🔥 Ive always been scared of such a scenario in my career. Thankfully, because of literally alllll your hard work and the way you like to work, I’ll be a great tech! & ima still have such a scenario in my life😂😂😂😂 there has to be an easier way than the monkey things I do now lol. You for sure help us all🙌🏽 much love
Thanks
Great Job, Chris! 👍🙏
I got so used to it that its weird not having you recap at the end what happend and what to watch out for
Like a good neighbor, HVACR is there.
Lol
Great video. Thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching
another job...well done!
Thanks bud
Fred taught me how to get 20 horsepower out of 2 5 hp Frick refrigeration liquid line pumps when you run them at 3000 rpm!
THAT scared the F out of me!
Was for the fishing boats in Kodiak.
(Not working in HVAC but) If i have to deal with a stubborn allen key i use a torx bit and an impact........ If it strip it strips, the result wouldnt be any different if i strip it with hand tools.........
The fan blade with the set screw that wouldn't tighten. Could abandon the set screw and drill and tap a new hole new set screw. Probably a 1/4 20 tap and a37 drill bit. But you got it thats what counts
A little bit of never-seize on the set screw and the shaft will prevent them from rusting and make removal in the future far far easier.
Good tip, thanks
Have you ever run into those Keep Rite evaporators? You can not get those blades off, even when they are brand new.
Are you talking about those blades that come to a point? If so yea ran into a few. First time I thought the helper messed up until I went to do the other one.
Yes, yesterday it was fine
Oh, I forgot to mention that yesterday was on last year
Lol
I love ur vids
Thanks
@@HVACRVIDEOS I watch ur vids since I was 8
My life also o.t calls yuuuk.but I sign up for it.
Good job Chris......
Thanks Bud
9:20 *head snaps up* me? What about me?
Socket Wrench ASMR
Awesome job 🙌🙌👌👍😊🍀🍺🇭🇷
Thanks
Note* Every condenser I installed or replaced was at table top level.
Mainly to save my knees and back.
Why the hell not?
Unless you're a deep masochist !
Metal or regular lumber works.
The fishing boats didn't have a compressor!
The vanes needed to be replaced every time they came back, 2-3 weeks!
Thank GOD I retired before it became electronic.
Keep it simple.
1920-30 simple.
They were bullet proof.
Good troubleshooting did you do that call alone
Just me and the great HVACR spirits
You do have an impact driver. Is it possible to use some angle attachment like DEWALT DT20500 (DT20501) or old DT71517T?
Will it fit in blade's clearance in hub?
I think it's a bit to large, if it's the one I'm thinking of
Next thing I know which motor is the working. The one that has ice on it
Question. I have a Goodman 2.5 Ton, 13.4 SEER2 Self-Contained Packaged Air Conditioner . If i use the ac portion to cool the house ( 1,450 square feet ) and then dont use for a day or two . It snells horrible when i use it again. It smells like rotten fish . Any idea what causes this ?
I can feel something missing here ! Wrong upload ? The end is surely missing
What kind of hose do you use to de ice those coils , also do you use an adaptar for kitchen sinks ?
I'm going to discuss this a bit further on my live stream this coming Monday
Trying to find a good apprenticeship program in my area , any idea where to start?
Depends on your area, some areas your better off looking into the local union and some areas your better off going with a non union company. You may even start by asking some local trade schools or supply houses.
Cloud the def terminate and the blades start spinning? Seems dangerous
He turns the equipment off first
you have a 180k fans 🤣
I have the best fans
Don't go up or down empty-handed.
👍
🇺🇸👍💪❄️
do more ac vids
I will do that
77 thumbs up
Yes,,,,,, what happened to your 20 min ending commentary?
It'll be back
“…And the sight glass is clear!” 🫡
It's either full or empty or the compressor isn't running.
